Hotel Cordelia is a lovely small 2 storey hotel on the beach. All the rooms at the front have balconies and great views over the bay. Definitely worth parking a little extra for the sea view. Our room was huge (3 double beds), clean, had air con and a ceiling fan. 
Cheli on reception can speak a little bit of English and was very helpful. 
It’s a short walk along the rocks to the main part of Puerto Angel but we preferred this bit, known as Playa Pantheon.
This is very much a working fishing village and most of the tourists seem to be Mexican families. Much less touristy than Mazunte, Zipolite etc. 
There are only a few restaurants and by 9pm it’s all pretty quiet. Not a place for those who like to party!

Fab small hotel on the beach

Spent four nights here in March, looking for a little more authentic Mexican experience.  We found it at Hotel Cordelia’s!  Check in was easy.  I wish I knew the young lady’s name who was almost always at the front desk.  She didn’t speak much English nor I much Spanish but thank God for translator apps!  We had an oceanfront room on the second floor with a small balcony and two chairs and a table. It was wonderful to watch the sunrise every morning.  A bonus was that the patio door had a screen on it so you could leave the door open without worry about bugs!  Central air worked great, did not use it all the time. Hot water and good water pressure in the shower which is rare for this part of Mexico.  The beds looked like they would be hard as a rock but, surprisingly, they were very comfortable.  Daily maid service which is another thing that is hard to get almost anywhere.  The place was immaculate! We ate breakfast downstairs every day, except one.  Good basic eggs.  Only negative was only getting one cup of coffee, no refills, and i think it was instant.  The beach out front, Playa Panteon, was great.  Juan was the guy running the show there; I don’t know if the restaurant is affiliated with the hotel or not.  We did have to pay 200 pesos to get an umbrella and two Adirondack-type chairs.  There are several restaurants on this beach but they all close down early, basically a day-time thing.  Walked over to Playa Principal looking for other dinner options, only found one restaurant. Couldn’t find a taxi to get back to the hotel.  Luckily, it wasn’t a far walk.  The other nights we went to Zipolite for dinner. I loved the hotel and beach during the day but because of the lack of dining options, don’t know if I would return.  

Great little Mexican hotel!

If you are into a friendly, native Mexican holiday Join Chepe and his exceptional staff of Cheli and Carlos at the Cordelias.  This is Mexico as we first knew it 30 years ago, a small fishing village with nice amenities like snorkel tours and fishing if you’re into that.  Humberto is the man to see to organize tours , he has 4 pangas and experienced captains going daily.  Tours can include whales, dolphins, Tortugas and nice snorkeling. The hotel restaurant and adjacent palapa restaurants like Suzy’s have lovely breakfasts and will serve you fresh seafood of your choosing daily.  Excellent spot but no kitchen units or pool and the wifi is not always stable.  Adds to the charm, you are sort of off the grid and its good to unplug!  Have an evening swim under a full moon and enjoy being with your partner.

Lovely Truly Mexican Family Hotel

The Hotel Cordelias was a wonderful place for my short stay in Puerto Angel.  In addition to great staff who helped me tremendously when I lost an important piece of identification.  Unfortunately the restaurant on the lower level of the hotel is not operated by the hotel owners.  While the rest staff are pretty terrific and helpful there were a few problems.  The restaurant does not take credit cards. In addition compared to the standard around Puerto Angel it was the food was expensive and not great.  I emphasize that those issues should not be attributed to staff since they do everything possible to provide good service.
I highly recommend the Massage therapeutic offered via the hotel by Krista Williams, an expat American woman living, teaching at the university and providing this amazing service to clients of Hotel Cordelias.
I loved Puerto Angel.  A much simpler, basic place where family and simplicity are key.  Don't expect big luxury.

Resto Susi next door to Hotel Cordelias offers good basic Mexican food at very reasonable prices and the small grocery window at the end of the street is open for business every day.  The proprietress (I wish I knew her name) takes pride in offering an excellent selection of items ... including beer, wine and ice.  I hope you enjoy Puerto Angel and the Hotel Cordelias as much as I did.



Hotel Cordelias staff fantastic! And an amazing therapeutic massage to boot!

This is real Mexico, so look down while walking. The tiny fishing community has more dogs than people, so watch where you step! But this hotel has wonderful beach access, great restaurants right on the beach or a short walk to the town, nearby hiking, snorkeling and boat trips.

Clean, inexpensive, great access!

Easy check in...easy to love every second. Nuff said.  Perfect location...nice rooms...people at hotel are easy to like. We headed off to explore Mazunte and Zipolete....both were fun but Zipolte had a fantastic beach. 


Great beachfront hotel

Our yearly visit to Puerto Angel, Mexico never disappoints...when you get to know the locals, it makes it so much more enjoyable. From the hotel staff/ownership to the beach area staff, even the local town folk who greet you as you enter the property; all creating lasting memories.
Can’t wait to come back next year!

Yearly visit to Puerto Angel

The hotel was very clean.  The location is amazing and snorkeling in the morning was great.  Biggest issue was the beds, new mattresses are needed! Also if you wanted a view, there was no air conditioning in our room.  They did switch our room as we had booked this, but it was difficult, as during busy season.
