The staff was very rude, the room was dirty and smelled of mushrooms and cigarettes.The pool was unmaintained, the towels were old rags.The rooms of the 3 days I stayed alone were cleaned once supposedly for hygiene reasons.

The worst service ever.

The rooms were very dirty, towels were given to us with old clothes that we obviously asked to be changed, the old pillows, the uncomfortable mattress, the very rude service staff, when they were asked to clean the room they said they were clean, when we asked for good towels they made us face.

I occupy one of the two-bed, private-patio with kitchen suites and I am very happy here, but even when I was in a single room waiting for this suite to become available, I was pretty happy with the shared kitchen and huge patio overlooking Zicatela beach. So cheap, it leaves you lots of money to slip over the road to Chedraui and get whatever you need. The beach is a 20 minute walk, but I seldom go there because I love our pool here in which I do my daily exercises recovering from a hip replacement. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. The building is aging, but has a real Mexican flair. The only drawback is the traffic noise from the highway right below, but I guess this why the cost is so reasonable. I love it here.

Best value for money

We spent a single night on a couple's trip and met the location very close to the main bay, downtown, from a single chedraui crossing the street and 10 min. from the airport. It has wi-fi and a kitchen with a fireplace, fridge, trastos and kind of lockers to save you if your stay is for several days and you don't want to spend eating out, (although the food is very rich and at a good price) you can prepare your meals at the hotel. It is small but coqueto, there is an alberquita, hamacas and Mexican decoration. In addition they have a piece embedded in the wall that I love, as to consider if it is a good date rest is that the beds give the impression of being something alive since it was not cheap but the colón is very acceptable for a stay.

Well, the cost-benefit ratio.

The manager is a despot, you book a room type and they want to give you a more expensive one by claiming that yours was rented. They give you away when they want without the slightest consideration. No go. No parking and you are treated as if you are going to steal things or leave without paying. Puerto Escondido is very beautiful and does not deserve guys like the manager and apparently owner of the 55 Hostel.

It's really bad.

We visited Puerto with a friend and traveled along the avenue of the bus station in search of a hostel.We found everything, cheap, cheap, but finally decided to go east, which had several services, quite close to the beach (cruises walk, low stairs and encounter the beach).

Not every time you visit a beach destination you do it with the intention of vacationing, in my case I thought staying at this hotel was an excellent option as I needed a location close to the beaches of Puerto Escondido, but also close to the center. For work reasons I needed to be in this strategic location and it was great. Coupled with the good care, the clean rooms with the necessary services must be added to the affordability of the cost. Truly a place where I could get to rest and/or work, be close to places in the village and why not? get to the main beaches and arrive in a few minutes on foot.
