We had a wonderful time at the Grand Bliss.  The good -  We both had the best sleep ever.  The beds are very comfortable. The room and entire resort is kept spotless.  The maid service is twice a day. 
The staff are exceptionally helpful and pleasant.  The service was exceptional.  We added 50-100 Mx to every check and tipped the maid daily.

Loved-Cirque Du Solei- The dinner was even more imaginable than the show.  Be sure to get the dinner it makes the night magical.

Wish-The pool and restaurants were closer to the Grand Bliss.  We knew we would need to walk a lot and we did about 6 miles a day just general walking, going to the pool and dinner.
-Food and beverages were less expensive.   115-175 Mx for a cup of American coffee.

Pleasantly Surprised

Wow. What an experience. Amazing resort. All staff from shuttle drivers to cleaning staff were amazing. Shout out to Henderson at reception for his exceptional service. We cannot recommend this properly enough. We will definitely be returning.

1 week vacation with friends

The Grand Bliss rooms are nice but having to deal with Traffic Noise and Leaf Blowers constantly is horrid!!  Rarely come to this resort and Definitely would NOT recommend EVER staying in the Grand Bliss!! Not relaxing- feel like we’re on a freeway…
Also the wood walkways are in disrepair- needs upgrading…
Service is good and  nothing against employees…
Also insane prices for food! Go to a market for provisions- on site store basically has nothing to cook….

Not relaxing - crazy trucks/leaf blowers  noise constantly!!

Our overall experience that the Vidanta Riviera Maya was excellent. We are a family of four (kids are 14 and 11). The property is very big, beautiful, and well maintained. Food is good quality. The staff are friendly and attentive. 

The room: We stayed at the Grand Bliss in a suite that had a separate bedroom (king bed) with a living room (2 couches that double as beds, one for each child) and a kitchen w/ dining table. The bathroom had a shower and separate jacuzzi tub. We also had a spacious balcony with a small plunge pool. As someone who values good sleep and is picky about mattress comfort, I was pleased with the comfort of the king-size bed. The water pressure in the shower was a bit low but fine. Same with the jacuzzi tub, and we thought it would take hours for the tub to fill, but surprisingly, it filled up in about 20-30 minutes. The cleaning staff was in daily and in addition to making the kids' bed every day, they would come back at night for turn down service. The kids enjoyed the two Hershey kisses the staff would leave for them each night. 

The property: Gorgeous and huge! There are six resorts on the property, 22 restaurants, 5 different pool areas (not including Jungala the water park), plus the beach. Walking the property is lovely as there are a variety of flaura and fauna to discover. The hotel has printed guides in the lobby of the various plants and animals you will see while there. I thought it was a great touch to provide for guests. You can tell they put a lot of time and attention on maintenance. To get around are also shuttles that take guests all over the area to the various hotels, pools, restaurateurs, etc. By our 4th day, we had the system down pretty well, but the unsung heroes of Vidanta are the staff who are at each shuttle stop guiding guests onto/off at the right spots. The pool areas are clean, and despite being busy, they have plenty of lounge chairs, cabanas, etc. My favorite were the cabanas in secluded little spaces surrounded by foliage around the property. 

Food & restaurants: I don't have any complaints about the food at Vidanta Riviera Maya. Every restaurant we tried was good. And they have every cuisine you could want (Italian, Asian, Cuban, American). I appreciated the 2 for 1 drink specials! We ate at Salumi various times because of the variety you can find with six different restaurants in that space, we tried the crapes at Joy Boutique, and the bakery pan dulce was delicious. The room service was speedy, and the food was great was well. The breakfast buffet was on point with a wide variety of food. While drinks are included, alcohol was not. The mimosa or bloody mary bar was a separate charge. We did not try the drinks because we opted for the fresh juices included with the buffet. In addition to clothing, beach/ sun needs, souvenirs, etc, that you'll find at Joy Boutique, it also has a small grocery store. But if you plan on cooking, which I do recommend if you are trying to keep the costs down, I suggest going to the Chidauri supermarket in Puerto Morelos to stock up as it's cheaper and have more of what you'll need.

 Activities: We decided to check out Jungala and while it was a lot of fun riding the big slides with our kids and their lazy river was beautiful and probably the longest one I've ever been in, it was overpriced for what it was. There just weren't enough big slides as I was expecting. Despite that, I wouldn't trade the experience. My kids had a blast riding the big slide over and over.  I purposely bought tickets for the day that would be slow and it was a good move because it was not crowded. The swim up bar was a great touch as we could be in our floaty, riding the lazy river and enjoying a drink while taking in the jungle all around us. We also bought tickets for Joya the Cirque du Solei show on-site. Now, I've been to other Cirque du Solei both in Vegas and their traveling shows, and Joya does not rank among the top of those experiences. We had not taken our kids to see Cirque, so I thought this would be a good opportunity. My daughter loved it, and my son thought it was "mid," which means "just ok" in kid slang these days 😀. The best experience was taking an excursion to Chichen Itza. Hands down the highlight of our vacation. We've set it up through Laura at Vidanta. The tour was $179/each for an all-day excursion (7AM - 7PM) and included the bus ride to Chichen Itza, cenote, lunch, and stop at Villadolid. The bus picked us up at Vidanta, and it was all Vidanta guests. We got a morning snack on the bus that included a sandwich, juice, and apple. The tour guide explained about Mayan culture during the drive and guided us through the first hour at Chichen Itza. Chichen was really hot. It was 91° that day and no shade! The tour provides plenty of water, so that's helpful.  But bring your hats, sunglasses, and sunblock. We had a really yummy buffet lunch at a local Mayan artisan village. The swim in the cento was fun but too crowded for my taste. I would have preferred a more intimate experience, but I'm glad we did it. My family all really enjoyed it.  My husband and kids were jumping into the cool water while I took photos. I did jump once, and that was enough for me. There were nice changing rooms available for changing our of our wet clothes to get back on the bus. The final stop was a visit to the town of Villadolid, for only 30 minutes, which was a bummer as I really wanted to walk through the town and get to see more of it. My husband and kids got tacos while I ducked into the chocolate store the guide told us about and bought a jar of the region's famous chocolate mole mix to make back home. 

We also took a day trip to Puerto Morelos for snorkeling and to visit the beach town. We took a cab from the resort $500 pesos for 4 of us for the 15 min ride. The cab driver dropped us off near the central square but at a restaurant connected to a nice but high-end tequila shop. I think the fact we were Vidanta guests, everyone assumes you have money. Plus, we have the Vidanta bracelets that you cast take off and are a dead giveaway to the local merchants who will try to charge you more for their goods! We went snorkeling with the local Collectivo (located at the blue shop near the leading lighthouse) that I read about here on Trip Advisor. It was US $21/each for a 1 hr snorkeling trip. They provided the equipment and guidance and took us out to the reef, which is also a natural preserve. We saw a barracuda, eel, and variety of fish and corral. It was not the most fascinating snorkeling experiences, to be honest, but if you're looking for something to do, it was good enough. We also walked around the town, had ice cream, and ducked into a restaurant whose name I couldn't recall, but it was something "beach club." We had margaritas on the deck overlooking the beach. Lovely! 

Checking out from Vidanta was quick and convenient. I was able to check out the night before we left directly with the concierge at our building without having to go to the Gand Bliss lobby, which was regularly busy. He also scheduled a bellhop to pick up our luggage. I forgot the mention earlier that we did not book transfer to/ from the airport with Vidanta. I'm Mexican American and speak Spanish so I decided to wing it and just get a taxi upon arrival and was able to get us transportation to Vidanta and schedule them to pick us up & get us back to the airport for $1500 pesos total which is $93 US. 

Overall, Vidanta is an excuisite resort that I highly recommend. Be prepared to pay for everything, but I suspect that's how they're able to give guests the good quality experience in stay, food, and staff. 



Terrific stay with every attention to detail. 

After waiting for over 2 hours at the airport (with 2 toddlers) for a prepaid shuttle, it then took another 11/2 hours to get checked in at the resort and get to our room. We quickly realized that we had to plan well in advance anytime that we were going somewhere in the resort because you had to take a tram everywhere. And although the grounds are lush and very pretty, you basically felt trapped on the property. However, there were a lot of restaurants and places to eat (with very high prices). They had a lot of different pools but you still needed to get chairs sercured early or they were gone & there wouldn't be anywhere for you to enjoy the pools. It seemed like a lot of families with young kids and it would have been nice to gear a pool or two toward them with some slides and other kid amenities other than Jungala, the $100/day/person water park.(They did have a small kids activity area with different activities scheduled by one of the pools). The staff was genuinely friendly and polite. If your idea of a vacation is to sit by the pool, this is it. (They do have an 18 hole par 3 course) Otherwise, to get into Playa del Carmen is a little more than 30 minutes for snorkeling, diving or other activities.

Beautiful and Isolated

Regrettably, my recent visit to Vidanta Grand Bliss at Riviera Maya failed to meet my expectations. A close friend and I embarked on a one-week vacation at this lush jungle property, and it is evident that the level of service did not align with the property's striking aesthetics and idyllic location.

It was disheartening to observe that Vidanta's staff appeared to operate with tunnel vision, limiting their awareness to their immediate surroundings. This lack of holistic knowledge created confusion and frustration, particularly when seeking directions both within and beyond the property's boundaries. Although we brought our concerns to the attention of the management, regrettably, no action was taken to address or rectify the situation.

Certainly, Vidanta Grand Bliss boasts a magnificent setting, characterized by its natural beauty. However, when evaluating the overall experience, it is evident that there is a substantial disparity in the quality of service provided. Prospective guests should be prepared for potential challenges in navigating the property and its environs.

Drawing upon my extensive background in management and operations, it is apparent that Vidanta's management team could benefit from revisiting the foundational principles of operational management and customer service. This would undoubtedly contribute to an enhanced guest experience and overall satisfaction.

Jungle Trap

I regret to express my reservations about this Vidanta based on our recent experience. While the aesthetics of the resort are commendable, the operational efficiency, especially in terms of customer service, left much to be desired. My companion and I stayed for a week, and consistently faced challenges in navigating both within the resort's premises and outside. This compromised the ease and fluidity one would expect from a resort in such a prime location. Additionally, it was disappointing to note that the management did not seem receptive to feedback. The resort's policy of restricting transportation options was particularly limiting, as it hindered our ability to explore the wonders of Cancun and Riviera Maya without undue inconvenience. The stay, unfortunately, began to feel less like a relaxing escape and more like a confinement. I'd hope for prospective guests to consider these factors when making their decision.

Entrapment in the Jungle

This hotel has a SERIOUS MOSQUITO INFESTATION.  There are multiple areas of standing water.  mosquitos biting you CONSTANTLY.  I had to carry OFF and spray it all over.  Had to shower 4 times a day because I had so much Off on my skin.  Bugs were in the elevators, hallways, while standing to wait for the shuttle, and the entire time you walked outside of your room.  I tried to open the sliding door on balcony but several mosquitos flew into the room.  It was so miserable that we stayed in the last night of our trip to avoid the bugs. The room itself was very nice and spacious but the bug problem ruined the entire trip.  Everything is spaced out so you have to take shuttles to get anywhere on the property.  Sometimes you had to take one shuttle and transfer to another shuttle to get where you were going.  It was very inconvenient and annoying.

SERIOUS MOSQUITO INFESTATION

Great place, well located and fantastic ameties. The beach is within the resort and has plenty of green areas to walk around. 
The food is good but it is on the expensive side. 
Cirque du Soleil is a must, wonderful experience!!
