one of the only hotels open during the pandemic so I went there at another time, it really needs a full refurbishment because it's really ruined-down. Rooms are very large and furnished with nice antique furniture XIX century style. it can be very quiet although in the true historic center (it depends on the other guests). The staff is really nice and helpful. so it can be a good choice if you get the right price... do not pay too much!

not bad

I don't know where to start with this place. I didn't check the reviews first because it was a last minute trip. My mistake, all the bad reviews are really accurate.

The rooms are never cleaned. The hotel is old and need a lot of maintenance. There is a musty mold smell everywhere, probably because of the lack of ventilation, air conditioner or a fan.

The bathtub and shower was full of cockroaches crawling and flying everywhere! There is not hot water and the sink faucet didn't work. The sheets clearly dirty from the last guest.

A lot of noise from the restaurant downstairs.

There is no parking lot and the doors just don't lock so we were concerned about our privacy and security.

The front desk is totally useless and rude. We left the hotel without refund. 

So many better places in Queretaro, don't stay here! 

Stay away! Hotel Nightmare

Even though our room was big, the downsides were too many: the bathroom was full of small black ants; if you wanted to shower with hot water, you needed to go to"reception" and ask someone to turn on the boiler, wait for 15-20 mins and then maybe you'd get warm water; there were no bed covers, our door didn't lock, the recepcionist was very rude. It was overpriced in comparison to what we got. 

It is well located and the restaurant looked fine, but we didn't try it. It is important to keep in mind that legend tours go inside the hotel and sometimes they have late night tours (the noise was not terrible for me, but might be for others).

Too much money for what you get

This is a review of the restaurant which is on the first floor of the hotel. The setting was nice enough and the food was OK, on par with any of the neighboring restaurants where you can get comida corrida (full dinner) for about the same price. However, I find no excuse for the fact that there was no toilet seat on the facilities in the women's room. (I know this happens in Mexico, but I've never seen it in a restaurant at this level, in a major city.) Furthermore, when I asked the waiter to add on a 10% tip he said NO and then said: 15%. I was shocked, but I agreed. Then he came back with the credit card receipt and said that the hostess had not added the tip as requested, so we would have to tip with cash. Overall this was an unpleasant experience and I would never return.

For dining purposes you can do better

This is a fair priced hotel for the location. Half a block from downtown and if you go to the main garden downtown, there are free performances almost every night. The room was very comfortable (and large). It had the authentic Mexican charm. The food is ok but you can always get street food anytime. The staff were extremely polite, helpful and accomodating. The cleaning lady came by only three times but that's what I asked her to do. I was barely in the room so not much to clean. Oh yeah, and the rooms are huge!

Old World Charm...

I visited this hotel as it forms part of a tour of local legends (it used to be a convent) and if the rooms are anywhere near as badly looked after as the common areas I would not recommend it.
The dirty textiles and plastic chairs and tables with beer logos made me think of charter hotels in southern Europe from the 80´s (but not in a good way...).

For a group of teenagers doing Mexico on the cheap it is a great deal at the locally advertised rate of 35 dollars (490 pesos), but I wouldnt pay a cent more.

The location is excellent though, right in the middle of the historical centre, just be aware that it is a very low budget hotel and it shows...
