Stopped in for breakfast. Lovely tranquil courtyard, had the fresh OJ, very good cappuccino and a wonderful Croque Monsieur. DH had the OJ and cappuccino but opted for eggs with potatoes and fruit. 
Don’t come if you are in a rush but do come prepared to enjoy beautifully presented tasty food. 
Planning on a second visit to try the French Toast!

Excellent breakfast

The chilaquiles have amazing tasty tortillas that remain cripsy despite serving as the foundation for a delightfully fresh salsa verde with perfectly cooked eggs, crumbly queso fresco, perfectly cut cubes of avocado, and a light drizzle of crema. You can feel the life in the sprinkle of cilantro that tops it off. Best kept secret. 

While you're there, the fruit juice makes you feel like you jumped inside the papaya. The squash jam that comes with the toast is a wonderful surprise.

The rooms were our favorite in mazunte, clean and sweet.

Sweet spot with the best chilaquiles

My wife and I spent 6 fantastic days here. Owners and staff are wonderful, rooms are clean and well-kept, and the courtyard/hangout area is shaded and refreshingly non-sandy. Delicious breakfasts + an espresso machine for the mornings. We especially loved their cat Sammie and dog Chico. 

Loved Posada Paloma

There are only few really good places to eat in the town. This is one of them. Really delicious simple, solid food set in the beautiful court yard of the posada! The Niçoise salad and the grilled tuna are fantastic. 

One of best food options in San agustinillo

La Posada Paloma is located, within a two minute walk from the beach at the easterly end of the beachfront town of San Agustinillo. The sound of the waves crashing is always present.
If you are looking for somewhere more peaceful and less party orientated than Mazunte, then this is the place, although walking over the hill of an evening to encounter the night life of Mazunte takes no more than 15 minutes, (or 5 minutes in taxi or collectivo) The beach is long, and has some great swimming spots, protected from the powerful pacific breakers. 
The friendly owners Fabian and Paula speak various languages and provide 7 different basic, but clean and comfortable rooms, all with overhead fans, some with ensuite and some with a shared bathroom. There are various open areas to sit, read, talk or just to chill out in the lush plant and palm covered courtyard whilst the Wi-Fi reaches all of these spaces.
The open air restaurant provides a good selection of dishes, prepared by their french chef, along with fresh coffee from their expresso machine.

Considering that this area of Southern Mexico, has been referred to as the Goa of North America, San Agustinillo and La Posada Paloma offer a relaxing, more peaceful alternative to the likes of Mazunte or Zipolite, in a harmonious and secure location.

Peaceful and relaxing two minutes from the beach.

Firstly the town of San Agustinillo is a little gem! Very sleepy and a great place to come to relax and forget your troubles. There are still plenty of bars/restaurants along the one and only road that runs through town but this is not your party town, for a livelier scene you can check out Zipolite to the East or to a lesser extent Mazunte to the West which is walking distance from San Agustinillo anyway.
Posada Paloma is on the northern side of the town road, it is right at the beginning of the town and access to the beach is only a minute away across the road and down an alley that services the beach. It is a mint location flanked by another residence to the East and a vacant block to the West. There are no beach views but the sound of the ocean is constant and once inside the main entrance you are greeted with a large garden and bar area, an escape from the heat with plenty of shade, hammocks, lounges and of course ice cold cerveza’s.
The rooms are basic but have everything you need, they are quite spacious, our room had a table and chair, all the beds have mosquito nets, we also had a private bathroom, no hot water but with an average temp of 30 plus degrees all year round it’s not a problem. (You won’t find hot water anywhere in town anyway). There were mosquito’s about in general, if you are careful with your door not many if any will get into the rooms though, all the windows are netted. Mosquitos aren’t an issue of this accommodation but of this area of Mexico in general. Make sure you bring repellent, it is definitely required.
The Garden really sets this place apart. The midday heat can be brutal and to have an open area outside your room to enjoy and escape the worst of the sun was a real bonus for us. We often spent 3-4 hours in the middle of the day reading/snoozing in the hammocks in the shade of the garden, avoiding the heat before heading back to the beach in the less harsh afternoon sun.
Our hosts were amazing, they weren’t shy of suggestions, happy to have a chat but similarly happy to leave you to your own devices, nothing was a problem. Their breakfast options were great, good coffee and a mix of options from fruit salad, yogurt, to eggs, omelettes and French toast. We were even fortunate enough to share a meal with the hosts one night after they offered for us to join them. All in all San Agustinillo was an amazing place to relax after 3 weeks of travelling around Mexico and sight seeing, The beach was long with golden sand and surf and also had a calmer bay around the corner to swim in should you not fancy hitting the surf. Gorgeous sunsets on the beach every night and Posada Paloma was the perfect venue to make the most of this beautiful part of the world, I can’t recommend enough.

Fantastic Place to Stay

My partner and I arrived over a week ago. We found this place by accident and bookend to stay only a few nights. Over the few nights stay we decidedly to extend it and stay longer because Carlos Monsee and Maria are such welcoming hosts and have made us feel very welcome 😊  We stayed in the very top room that has a private bathrooms and kitchen, it has been ideal as we've cooked a lot for ourselves but also
It's  great because you can make your own coffee in the morning when you want 😊   I would highly recommend this as a place to stay in San Agustinillo it's really relaxed and nice and quite in the day and evening, if you want to party Zipolite is a short 5 minute taxi ride away.

Like a home from home

First the good stuff. The garden is as lovely as other reviewers mention, although during my time here it was barely used. 

The owners and staff are friendly, cheerful and charming. And the wifi is pretty good. Good enough to watch movies on my phone.

But, and I’m only speaking about room 5 which is a double room at the front of the site and close to the road, it was quite simply the most difficult room to sleep in that I have ever occupied. 

My first impressions were of faded charm and slight decay. So much so that I did something that I have never done before and pulled out the pillows from their cases. With 2 double beds I had a choice of 4 pillows and I chose the 2 most adequate and consigned the other horrible things to the other bed. Then I washed my hands. One of them was just shocking…

The room was large but very basic. Ceiling fans and two hard, upright chairs, a table, and that was it. No aircon, no coffee maker (a first for me in a Mexican hotel) no fridge, no CURTAINS, just a couple of tatty woven things in two of the windows (see photo) and on the biggest window a mosaic of coloured glass that was pretty enough until dawn when its light passing qualities were on full display.

Windows…they’re called Ventanas and vents is what they are. To allow air to flow the windows are basically gaps with mosquito screens. No glass at all. And this is the biggest problem because at about 20 feet from a very busy, noisy road traffic noise is your constant bane. The road is very busy: huge engined trucks that shake the room and make a noise like a WW2 bomber coming in to land, cars with loud music and heavy revving motorbikes that seem to run up and down all night as well as all day. 

You simply cannot even begin to think of sleep here without heavy duty earplugs and eyeshades. 

My travel clock has a thermometer so I can factually state that on a typical day my room went from an overnight low of 25 (77) to an afternoon high of 28 (82). I’ll bet that’s why the pillows were so manky; you sweat in bed. 

I had booked for a week on the strength of all these great reviews through a hotel reservation website and 10 minutes after checking in I was onto them for a refund, which was not forthcoming. Why didn’t I just leave you ask? The room cost me £64 per night which I had already paid so I just stayed for a week, waiting to be able to leave, and thankful for my wax earplugs. 

Even at half the price, which I believe the other rooms are, the noise/sleep issue would be hard to overlook. It’s not their fault that the road is now so busy; I’ll bet it was charming before, but the time has come to install the aircon that the room price demands and put decent stout glass in those windows.
