we really enjoyed our time at yagils place, its a very quite and clean hostel, perfect to relax!! we loved to spend our time in the beatiful garden or on the big terrace! The breakfast is also very tasty. 
I recommend you to visit the tours of yagil, for us it was the best organized tours what we have done in mexico!! we stayed there for more than 2 weeks and we did nearly all the tours, the hilight was Las Nubes!!

really love this place

Yagil Suites was perfect for our family (including an 11 year old and a 13 year old), with clean, comfortable rooms, located around a beautiful courtyard (with kitchenette and lounge area). Upstairs there is a common deck with a view over San Cristobal and a number of comfortable hammocks for relaxing. Located in the historic quarter of the town, Yagil Suites is just around the corner form the central pedestrian walkway, Real de Guadalupe, and within easy walking distance of all the major attractions of the historic district. We visited a number of restaurants, cafes, and shops that were within 5 minutes walk from Yagil Suites.
However, the truly unique feature of Yagil Suites, is Yagil himself and his wonderful staff who run several tours in the Chiapas region. We went on an amazing two-day, one-night, tour to Las Nubes, a breathtaking series of waterfalls in the Mexican jungle southeast of San Cristobal. Canoeing, swimming, hiking, grilling, campfire, volleyball – everything you could want for a camping trip, all lead by the Yagil's crew – we never had to lift a finger and were free to enjoy the beauty of the surroundings (and nap on the trademark hammocks!). A native of the Finger Lakes, and western New York, I am familiar with many beautiful waterfalls, and Las Nubes is definitely a site worth seeing. Upon returning to San Cristobal we took a shorter 4-hour tour with Yagil to Chamula and Zinacantan, two small, picturesque, mountain villages just outside of San Cristobal. Here we saw and learned about the interesting cross-pollination of Mayan and Catholic traditions, as well as the amazing textiles and crafts made by members of the local community.
All in all, a fantastic experience – our family gives Yagil Suites a well deserved 5-star rating!

Yagil Suites – a great find in San Cristobal de las casas!

First off- check your bed really well. I was bitten by a spider eight times and the staff could have cared less. One simply bragged about his own spider bite a month previosuly. Yagil accused me for not going to the doctor, without offering to call one or even pay for it (it was in his property and they are legally obliged to fumigate). The doors have cracks on them and San Cristobal is very cold- make sure you ask for extra towels (you might need to do this several times) to block the cracks and prevent the cold from seeping in. Also, be careful upon paying. Its cash only (they dont pay tax, so dont expect to get an invoice) and the price can change from your orginal booking - it depends on the exchange rate with the dollar. The location is a little further away from the center than most but it is still walkable. Its nice that they set out things for you to make yourself breakfast, but if you're unlucky enough to have a big family as your neighbours they can finish everything, even if you arrive ten minutes after they set the food. Yagil was initially very nice, but switched with the spider incident.

Its fine if there isnt another option in town.

We were here for one week, had the best time we can imagine. Great team, we will definitely be back here. We went with them to a few tours which we highly recommend. The best tour was the one to Las Nubes

Amazing place 

Yagil and Eloisa are the type of hosts, that makes you feel at home instantly. We were treated warmly from the beginning and to share a home with such a lovely family is a great experience.

+ Very nice courtyard / garden
+ partially rooms with a view of the city
+ a lot of love went into creating it (hammocks, communal rooms)
+ Good "food" map of the area :)
+ good kitchen with free coffee and water
+ Feels like an Airbnb with the comfort of a superior hostel/hotel
+ convenient, quiet location (only a 5 min. walk to the main pedestrian street)

- really no negatives

= excellent value for money

= one of the best places I have stayed in so far. 

If you book, make sure you get the time to do a tour with Yagil. Unfortunately we only had two nights but the places he takes guests to look incredible.
