I appreciated staying here for many reasons. The main one is the gracious and hard-working staff of Minerva, Lupita and Cynthia who were incredibly accommodating and sweet. The rooms are spacious and the beds firm. The hot water is actually HOT and doesn't take 5 minutes to get hot. It was a welcome spot to return to due to the tranquil nature of it once inside the gates.
The courtyard is beautiful; filled with lush plants and also a room of antiques. 
I visited half a dozen hotels on foot and this one was by far the most inviting. I will always stay here when I visit San Cristobal as long as the same kind women are running this hotel.

Wonderful hotel!

I have been staying at Rincon de Cuca for several years, both when I come to San Cristobal de las Casas alone or when I bring a small group. It's a family run hotel, with excellent service. The rear patio around the well is charming. Rooms are always very clean and rates are extremely reasonably priced. . I run a non-profit in Chiapas, and I always feel as if I am coming home when I stay at Rincon de Cuca. The location is 5 minutes from the zocalo and 5 minutes from the indigenous market.

A gem of a small hotel

Perfect hotel, close to the center (less than 5 min by foot). The staff is very kind, the room with a king size bed (for only 550 pesos) was super clean and comfortable. After a lot of research, this hotel was definitely the best value we could find in san cristobal.

Very good surprise

Rincon de Cuca is very lovely pleasant family hotel just a few minutes walking from the "Plaza de la Paz". Rooms are clean, comfortable, cosy and quiet. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is very nice and enough. Coffe, tea, juice, bread, eggs, fruits... Fire place in the lobby gives the hotel a special charm especially in the winter seasson. Laundry service across the street. Plenty of restaurants in the neighbourhood.

Pleasant stay in Rincon de Cuca

I stayed with my husband at this hotel for about 4 nights. It was book through another agency so we didnt really knew what to expect until we got to the place. Even though the agency told us it was a 4 star hotel I would consider it more a 3 star hotel. The property is simple overall but it has a very pretty inside garden. The decoration is very colonial and very in tone with the place and the city of San Cristobal. The rooms were very simple but we had a good night sleep and had everything we needed. The bathrooms though lack of privacy when two people are staying because the doors are sliding doors and not a regular door. At least in the room we got. Also the rooms with view to internal patio I think probably are better than ours. The service was very good. We were impressed by the humble and servicial people of San Cristobal. My best experience was with the service we received. People are very charming. As part of the hotel we received breakfast every morning in a little breakfast place owned and run by a very nice gentlemen. The overall experience was good if you are looking for a budget hotel just for sleeping.

My experience in this hotel was charming

I would stay here again and stayed with a group in Jan '14. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They let us use some of the courtyard space as a meeting location and also made a fire for us in the hearth. 

It was cold overnight but they will provide more blankets if you need. It is very close to the center of town but don't count on the front desk Señora for directions--she pointed us in the wrong way a couple of times. However, they do give away free maps when you check in. 

They aren't currently accepting credit cards which was a slight bummer but overall, great price and this place has what you need!
