We had only one night to visit San Miguel and decided to book this place not only for the 5 star rating but all the positive reviews. First of all location! location!  It is truly in the heart of San Miguel’s beautiful city center. All the rooftops, amazing courtyards and picturesque cathedrals are steps away. We stayed in the King Superior Suite and it was spacious, clean, and the bed was incredibly comfy. Parking was valet and best of all free!!! Staff was super polite and courteous. Yes there are larger hotels outside of downtown with more amenities like pools, etc But if you are just looking for super lux place to rest after a long day of exploring, this place is just right. And the rooftop view is amazing. Only one slight bit of advice to the cleaning crew, the landing before the stairway was full of laundry bags and cleaning supplies during our stay I really think it would be better to stash store them elsewhere, kind of an eyesore. Other than that we loved it!!!!

Great place, excellent service, thank you!! I recommend it we had a great time and enjoy our night and our continental breakfast in our room hopefully we will be back, busy street though but nice to walk to the square

Great experience 

I loved this little place. The room was spacious and comfortable. It was very clean. The bathroom was big with the most fabulous alabaster basin. The mattress was a dream, just the right balance of firmness and softness with Greta pillows. The staff were so helpful. We had to leave early on the final morning but they went to the effort of providing fruit, yogjurt and granola with orange juice. Having said all this we had trouble with the shower every morning, it was almost impossible to get the temperature right, but I know that the staff tried to sort it when we told them. 

Delightful quality small hotel. 

Very cute boutique hotel in an excellent location just blocks from the main square. Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful, clean and well maintained rooms with an amazing rooftop with views of the city.  Bed was comfortable, with a good mattress and bedding. Great continental breakfast served on the rooftop terrace or in your room. You also have an option to have a full hot a la carte breakfast in their sister Hotel Casa Don Quijote located on the same street about 10 minutes walk away.

Nice boutique hotel

Very nice place to stay in SMA, we stayed here a few years ago and it’s still a great value.
Continental breakfast is included, delicious fresh fruit, coffee ETC. My only complaint is no fresh milk, only coffee mate artificial creamer.
Beds are comfortable, shower is great!
Overall a very nice experience.

Very nice friendly place.

This hotel is very well located close to all main attractions in SMA.  Room was very clean, bed comfortable and breakfast on the rooftop with a view was amazing.  Would stay there again without hesitation.

Cozy and comfortable

Small boutique place with only six rooms, but each room has a decent size. Walking distance to all attractions in SMdA, lovely rooftop terrace both in day and night time.   Very kind housekeeping and room service staff, good healthy breakfast. Make sure you pay in advance to secure one of their six rooms, it's well worth it!

Small but excellent!

There are many world class luxury hotels, many highly rated boutique hotels, and many more charming B&Bs in San Miguel de Allende (SMA).  It is a challenge to choose one!  I carefully chose a boutique hotel in "El Centro Historico" of this magical Spanish Colonial masterpiece.  Casa del Tio is just a short walk from the Centro Historico and the majestic Parroquia Cathedral, as well as numerous restaurants, several noteworthy cafeterias (just 1 or 2 blocks from the hotel), galleries, and boutiques.  The only disadvantage of being in the center of SMA is the vehicular noise and smog, especially in the afternoon, but Casa del Tio was surprisingly very quiet and tranquil.

This was my second visit to SMA in 12 months, in March 2019 and in 2020, and although I gave another boutique hotel where I stayed in 2019 a very high rating, it was in the hills on Santo Domingo which was a strenuous walk from the Centro Historico.  It is much better to experience this magical place by staying near the Historic Center for the reasons given in the first paragraph.

The Casa del Tio exceeded my expectations of a boutique hotel in the Centro Historico.  The hotel only has 5 or 6 rooms, each named for a color.  I stayed in the Marron Junior Suite, which was at ground level in the hotel courtyard or patio.  Typical of SMA, there is a rooftop terrace which offers a wonderful view of the city and its cathedral and the hills.  See photo.

The room is adequate in size and well appointed, typically in SMA rustic style, and very clean.  The weather in SMA in March is incredible: warm days and cool nights, and so I only needed to open my window for fresh air at night.

A delightful continental breakfast is included, and I enjoyed breakfast each day in the patio outside my room.  The generous breakfast consists of fresh juice, coffee, fresh fruit, yogurt with granola, and a pan dolce or croissant.  See photo.

In closing, I can confidently recommend Casa del Tio (or its companion boutique hotel, Casa Don Quijote) for a short term stay of 2 or 3 nights, or perhaps even a one week or longer stay in SMA.

Superb Boutique Hotel Experience "En El Centro Historico" in San Miguel de Allende

What a gem! We stayed in the “chocolate room”! Would highly recommend it. Lots of space, beautiful bathroom with great shower. Bed was awesome, good mattress and great bedding. They served breakfast on the rooftop terras. Simple yet excellent, coffee, juice, fresh fruit with some yogurt and granola and fresh buns.
The view up there was amazing!

Charming Boutique Hotel!

Wonderful, small hotel in the center of town, just blocks from the main square.  We had a wonderful stay here for our week in SMA.  The staff are friendly and most helpful.  Breakfast on the roof is not to be missed.  The hotel is clean and comfortable.  I cannot recommend it enough if you want to have an enjoyable and relaxing time in SMA.
