I stayed here in Feb 2018 since it was close by (5-minute walk) to the San Miguel Writer's Conference hotel, but served breakfast! I have nothing bad to say. The proprietor (Josephine) was responsive to emails, waited up for me when I arrived at nearly 11pm, and was so affectionate and sweet that I felt like I was visiting Grandma. Her native language is French; I speak no French and we communicated fine, even if she's not near fluent. 

The room was spotless, the Wifi was fast, and the breakfast (cereal, fruit, yogurt, toast and jam, tea/coffee, and on-demand eggs + bacon) was yummy. The only tricky part was paying cash since local ATMs don't like to dispense large amounts out at once. A couple times, I managed to get the equivalent of US$200 out at a time, but sometimes, I could barely get $50. I had to ATM-hop over a couple days to get all the pesos for my 6-day stay.  The place itself is charming, spacious, and safe, located in a quiet neighborhood, but in close walking distance of dinner options (my personal favorite - $1 tamales out of the back of a car). The TV had a fair amount of channels, the shower had good water pressure and temperature, and a bottle of water was provided every day. For a few days, I was the sole guest so felt like a queen. Loved my time here!

Josephine took great care of me!

Posada Francia is a beautiful B&B with patios with colorful bougainvilleas and many hummingbirds.  French and Spanish-speaking owner Josephine was extremely welcoming and kind to my sister and me.  Sometimes her advice was a little off, esp. for walking distances, but the map she gave us was helpful, and she tried very hard to speak some English.  Breakfast at the dining room table was family style and it was nice to meet other guests if we happened to choose to eat about the same time. We also could encounter them when we brought our bottle of wine to relax by the fire (it was cold) in the living room after a hard day of tourist activities.  Other than coffee, tea, and toast there were no hot options for breakfast, although once Josephine made us eggs to order and once she made delicious muffins hot from the oven.  Our room was comfortable and clean.  We found the location handy, just 2 blocks from a thoroughfare where taxis (cheap) could be found, and close to some good restaurants, not hilly, about a 15-20 minute walk to the main plaza.

Warm welcome to pleasant B&B

My wife and I loved our stay at Posada Francia. The place is a well built and spacious house with plants and flowers surrounding every outer area of the house. The inside has quality and sturdy materials like brick ceilings shaped into a dome. Josephine, who owns the business, is very sweet and relaxed. We had a european style breakfast with jams, bread,muesli and fruits. It will be hard to find a place with high quality and cleanliness for the same price. We enjoyed the smell of the flowers while dining in the garden area. Best of all, you come back every day to a made up bed and fresh towels and toiletries. Nice place to stay for couples and I would recommend this wholeheartedly. Don't be worried about the distance to the center of San Miguel, it is only a 10 minute walk to the center. Worth it for the peaceful and quiet sleep you get at night. Also, just  3 blocks away is a 24 hour convenience store and lots of delicious restaurants to choose from. Enjoy!

Highly recommend

Posada de Francia is well located in a charming neighbourhood. The owner is a delightful French lady. The room was clean and spacious and the bed comfortable.
It was quiet. We only had breakfast there the first day. But it was fine unless you like strong coffee!! Nice jams. 
I didn't give the place a 5 star as I didnt like the fact I couldnt pay by card and the Posada only takes cash which for me is tedious.

Pleasant and welcoming bed and breakfast

Gorgeous decor & stunning gardens.  The french speaking owner Josephine was very friendly & helpful.  Produced a map on our arrival which helped us understand San Miguel straight away. Little detail like that helps & is much appreciated. The room was comfortable & clean, with TV (loved watching an English move after quite a while.  Beautiful doors & windows with lots of fresh air coming in from the garden & a fan as well.  Location was perfect, a short walk from the restaurants & bars, & not much further to the centre of San Miguel.  The breakfast home cooked by Josephine was delicious, especially the crepe suezettes.  French breakfast & really homestyle. The gardener (I think Alex) was always around doing his jobs & was really pleasant.  Can highly recommed this accommodation.
