La Catrina Hostel and Breakfast 

I chose 'couples' but none of those categories apply; I travelled with my adult daughter. We spent 3 nights at La Catrina and were very satisfied with every aspect of the hostel. We'd both been in a rural San Miguel home for almost three months and wanted to have a few days/evenings in Centro. $50 Canadian per night for both of us, including taxes, a breakfast of coffee/tea, cereal and toast/jam. I bought juice from the kitchen at a regular grocery store price. The room was immaculate, twin beds, great mattresses and pillows, good supply of hot water. The whole facility was clean and well maintained. I opted for the communal shower simply for more space and a better shower head but the one in our room certainly was adequate. Location was ideal, 10-15 minute walk to our favourite Centro haunts, good restaurants near-by...one really great Italian restaurant a block away from the hostel (Andrea's). As an 80-yr-old traveller I would have no reason to choose a high-end hotel when there are places like La Catrina available!
