Vaction

A group of six of us stayed in these cabanas for New Year's.  The cabanas are spacious, and are stocked with all the utensils for you to make food.  They are about 3 blocks away from the main square, close enough to walk to the town square, yet far away to escape the hustle and bustle.  The wireless internet works adequately, and the prices are reasonable.  There is secure parking, and a very good pool.  Prices are a little high for the location, but if you split the costs, the place is well worth it.

I went here because the cricket team I play for has stayed here before, and they said it was great for barbecues, dogs and kids. That is all true. Kids and dogs have a ball ! Barbecue depends on you ! But be warned that one dog of a visitor went AWOL. I don´t know whether she turned up, but worth being careful. 

You probably need to have a car, though we walked into town (10 minutes at the most). The town has loads to offer including a wide selection of cheeses unusual for Mexico. But as it is self catering, you do need to have a car to go and buy what you need. After a poor intro to the supermarkets I was told that vegetables were not common but that there was a lady. (Ask Cynthia who runs the place where to go. She speaks English and Spanish. At least. That is not to say she does not also speak Mandarin and Russian, but I never asked that question.)

Each cabin has a kitchen and the tools as well as a fridge. No microwave oven that I remember. But you will need to buy to eat ! Wives may argue they are on holiday so why should they be cooking ! 

Great fun but probably better if you are young. Having said that I am old and it did me no harm, but I am not sure whether I am really typical.

The Cabañas are not warm in December. In fact they were quite chilly. However, each cabin has a very good fire laid ready to start up in the evening. Don´t start it too early or you will be feeling the cold. But that fire will take the chill off an otherwise frosty cabin ! You will be charged for it, but it is a fair price, and there are logs for later and the next morning as well if you are careful. 

I went there with my family (2 ladies) and my nephew and they all enjoyed it.

We went out to buy soap, partly because we are picky about our soaps but in fact the cabin we had had no soap at all- nor shampoo. (I was told that there should have been soap !) So be prepared not to rough it, but to buy what you need. It is not cheap. But good value if there are several of you. It is informal obviously.

It has a well groomed garden with lawns, and a pool- not enormous-but OK if it was hot. And not too deep so safe(ish) for kids, though keep an eye on them. 

There is also a games room that the kids loved. 

I would go back, but I would be better prepared next time.

Couples might like it but only in the warm weather. Too cold in the cold weather !!!
