I'm so happy that we found La Quinta Amada. Everything about our stay here was wonderful. To start off with, our room huge, our bathroom with a walk-in shower was wonderful, and both were immaculate and very pretty.  There was also a room next to ours that we could enjoy that had a TV, couches and a kitchen. Added to all this were the  grounds, there were about 2-3 acres of grounds with beautiful plants, seating and hammocks. And the views! We could see many volcanos, one of which was erupting!
La Quinta Amada was about a 10 minute colectivo drive into the town of Tlaxcala. it was worth the drive because all the hotels looked very tired in town. Next time, we'll just stay at La Quinta and eat close-by.

The very best  place to stay in Tlaxcala

Stayed 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it despite it not being in the centre of town.
Their warm hospitality, personal attention and Jaime's delicious cooking more than made up for that. They offer a list of day-trips which they conduct themselves and you will not feel isolated even without transport. The view from the rooms and rooftop terrace are stunning.
They also offer transfers from Mexico City and the airport, making it so convenient to get there.

Excellent chef and atmosphere

Jaime and Sharon Sanchez were great hosts during my 4 night stay in Tlaxcala last week.  My room was large, comfortable and quiet.  The breakfasts were generous and tasty with a lot of variety - homemade tortillas from the lady across the street one morning and truly excellent biscuits the next.  Jaime makes an outstanding cappuccino.  

Sharon took me on a personal tour of the town the day I arrived.  We took a collectivo and, within 15 minutes, we were in the zocalo.  She was very helpful and generous with her time answering all my questions.  Jaime drove me around  on 3 day tours; I strongly recommend hiring him to do so since you will save a lot of time; he was very knowledgeable.  The highlights of the trip were the colorful murals of Cacaxtla and the extensive ruins of Cantona.  Cantona is about a 90 minute drive from Tlaxcala in beautiful desert setting; it's not as well known as other pre-Columbian sites, but it is well worth the trip.  Jaime also showed me a bit of the local scene when he took me to a bar/cultural space called Los Contenidores (very friendly and nice owners) along the river where I enjoyed looking at the art and tasted a locally-made craft beer.  

Next time I come back to Tlaxcala, this will be the place were I stay.  And by the way, while I originally thought that 4 days might be a bit long to stay in this charming but small town, there were so many things to see/do in the greater area, that I did not get to everything on my list.

A Great Stay in Charming Town

I've long dreamed for a colourful house with a lovely garden.
And this is exactly the house I want!
Auntie Sharon cooked nice breakfast for all of us, and uncle Jaime spent two days with us, taking us to Huamantla(an exciting bull fighting festival there) and the downtown of Tlaxcala.

People here (not only Tlaxcala, but most places of Mexico) are very friendly, and this gives me the reason to learn Spanish.
Looking forward to visiting here again~
And looking forward to seeing auntie Sharon and uncle Jaime again!

The owners, Jaime and Sharon, could not have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful.  From the pick-up from the Puebla bus station to taking us to the Tlaxcala bus station everything was perfect.  Jaime was a great host and guide to attractions both in and outside Tlaxcala -- providing background information and other helpful hints.  The breakfast menu starts with juice, fruit and yoghurt and then additional choices from toast to crepes and almost everything in between.   Just a mention of a food item often meant it was on the table the next morning.  The rooms were cheerful with a delightful Mexican ambiance.  We have already booked our visit for next year.
