Just a view rooms (the family apartment is great)  in an beautiful garden with very nice staff. The beach is not far and the pool is perfect for the kids. The restaurant is nicely placed beside the pool and the food is good. and all that for a very fair price per night.

nice and friendly little hotel

A sweet small inexpensive hotel a 5 minute walk from excellent snorkeling at Yal- ku lagoon. Excellent restaurant on site serving 3 meals (except Tuesday). Small clean pool, AC, responsive friendly staff! Large clean room w porch (2 porches, one shaded, for our room 5). 15-20 minute walk to Akumal Bay; Half moon bay closer, several decent restaurants close by.  Would definitely stay again!

Sweet hotel close by Yal ku lagoon.

We were spoiled because went in June (low season) and we were the only guests for most of our visit. Friendly staff, grotto-like ambience with outstanding landscaping. (Just a 2-minute walk to the beach). Free snorkelling equipment and bikes to use. Amazing breakfasts. The room was basic, but cleaning service was outstanding and beds were comfortable. Small, beautiful pool. Highly recommend!

Great place!

Well, we have been in Akumal couple years ago, we stayed at the vacation condo literally just right at the property corner. The difference we experience this time is the beautiful traditional Mayan roof just right above us. Weather is mild, my wife loves to stay at the balcony enjoy the tropical breeze. I, who is targeting by mosquitoes, who can still stay indoor with 24 C AC but swing in the hammock, staring on the Mayan strew roof whole day long. Beautiful and different tropical bird calls are our daily morning calls. Jungle animals as Agoutis and White Nose Coatis literally roaming around in the early morning, daily. Akumal properties are focusing on beach access, Hotel Que Onda gave us more Mayan tropical jungle living experience. But if we want to go to the beach, walking distance to Yal Ku lagoon just around the corner, or ask for free bikes from hotel to a free beach access a few hundred yards away. Hotel Que Onda itself runs the pretty cozy restaurant. But local hot join, Buena Vita also not far away. We enjoy staying at Que Onda as a base for sightseeing Mayan ruins and Cenotes. If we are tired of paying expensive beach front establishments, you should try the Hotel Que Onda.

Wonderful 8 days stay!

The warmest and most genuine smile on the coast.
From check-in to check-out , we have met different staff and always had the most caring service.
Beautiful rooms and suites , all with a different atmosphere and with amenities ( Ac, fan, fridge, coffee machine...).
Bikes to rent . Ideal to visit the surroundings ( marina center and beaches).

Best stop in the area

The rooms are fine, clean, bed was comfy and the staff friendly. It is very convenient that has a Restaurante with tasty options (e.g.spinach lasagna) Only two 'buts'... we stayed in a room  (number 9) next to a private house, and the people in there were noisy in the middle of the night, chatting and screaming, and we were really looking forward for a good sleep as  next day we were getting up early for a tour. The property is nice, but needs maintenance, the pictures from the platform (bookin.com) were not accurate we arrived to a very plane version of the room, as they had removed a lot of the furniture that made the room cosier (e.g. bedtime table, two chairs and a table).

Comfy bed, lovely quaint character, needs maintenance

Small hotel but with very well thought thru and organised territory, spacious rooms which also allow comfortable relaxation even if you travel with kids, excellent restaurant. Hotel is located near to Yal-ku (5 min walk) - beautiful natural water park - it can be one of few places where you can swim in calm waters and see plenty of fishes - great time for kids. Big plus - no sea weed there, crystal clear waters. There is no beach in the hotel and you need to go to the water park (day access to be paid) or walk/ cycle to the closest Half-Moon Bay or Akumal Bay for swimming. There you will need to find a place to swim - too much sea weed this year. Akumal Bay also requires 5$ fee for entry. Most of shore is private beaches, you can only enter thru public access or best to stay at a beach club where you can buy drinks and food and therefore will be allowed to use their facilities - toilets, sun beds, umbrellas. We had a great time, but had to walk quite a lot to the beach and back. Taxi is ~ 120 pesos from Akumal Beach. 

Good value for money

Hotel Que Onda is at the north end of Half Moon Bay, right next to Yal Ku lagoon. The hotel is very small and quite a bargain in this age of expensive hotels and resorts. The room where we stayed was very basic and clean. We opted for the least expensive room as we we waiting to move into a condo that we had just purchased. 
We were impressed with the balcony and that the room overlooked the pool. 

Food was very good in the restaurant.

This little hotel is quite a gem and will thrill anyone who wants a budget friendly stay in Akumal.
