Valladolid is a very noisy town and this place was the quietest I found (among 5). The kitchen is very nice and the place is clean with a great, relaxed and free atmosphere. They also rent bicycles and the cenotes are a few minutes away.

The best in Valladolid

This place was super chill, we wanted to camp so it only cost us 75mxn per person.  Bathrooms are clean, they have a mini pool, and some pretty neat wall art.  Totally recommended for people on a budget who dont mind sharing space.  Its very conveniently located too! 

Super chill and a good price

I am the Canadian Bertha V. is talking about. I was helping out for a few weeks, i am a traveler, not the owner. She showed up without luggage and no passport. Most hostel staff everywhere would tell her that she could not stay. I explained that in Canada I cannot stay in good hostels, in the USA, Americans are not allowed to stay,.. it is for the protection of the international travelers. 
Cinco Calles is the best value for the money in Valladolid. Close to everything and the owner Erwin is the nicest person I know. Sandi goes out of her way to help everyone. 
Try it, you will like it and the pool, wow so refreshing:-)

No discrimination at all,..

Lots of good things, and lots of possible improvements.

Good : location (close to the center, SUPER close to the bus station) ; price (impossible to beat, although breakfast is not included) ; rooms and bathrooms pretty clean although very simple (my number 1 requirement); good wifi.

To be improved :
- depending on where you sleep, you can be exposed to the noise of the street as if you were sleeping without walls ;
- the dorms are separated by walls that do not prevent the sound of passing through, so when a group leaves early, comes back late or just doesn't behave, you get all of the noise, unfiltered. During the 3 days I've been there, 2 groups of youngsters passed by and really annoyed the rest of the clients. I think it could be changed with a set of rules that any incomer would have to agree on when checking in. What's more, more sound insulation would really help.

In short : if you're like me, you'll probably have a great time because it has the basics right : low-budget, clean hotel (I was sorry not to get the breakfast but with such prices...), quite confortable, not even one cucaracha. Just what I was looking for.

Potentially very good, depending on what you're looking for

I was mistreated by the Canadian owner. He told to a group of friends and I that the place doesn't allow Mexican people, but he could make an exception... Come on! He is a foreign living in Mexico :( I'm very disappointed.
