I don’t recommend at all. No recomiendo. Stay away. I only choose this hotel for the pool, to entertain my kids. The pool had a foul odor and the kids did not swim.  Also they charge an extra 900 pesos for an additional kid. 500 pesos for a towel that was stained with wine (some glass spilled in our room). They double charges our credit cards. It’s not near the town, it’s on a main road. The bar has minimal, you can’t enjoy drinks near the pool. A lot of staff but not helpful. 

No lo recomiendo en absoluto. No lo recomiendo. Mantente alejado. Sólo elijo este hotel por la piscina, para entretener a mis hijos. La piscina tenía mal olor y los niños no nadaban. También cobran 900 pesos extra por un niño adicional. 500 pesos por una toalla que estaba manchada de vino (algún vaso se derramó en nuestra habitación). Nos cobran el doble en nuestras tarjetas de crédito. No está cerca del pueblo, está en una calle principal. El bar tiene lo mínimo, no puedes disfrutar de bebidas cerca de la piscina. Mucho personal pero no servicial.

I had some issues in my room but the hotel staff they were so kind and efficient, the next time I come back for sure I'm gonna be in the same Hotel also the breakfast here its delicious they have the best coffee

Excelente staff

I had such a good experience and very comfortable stay at this hotel, because it hasnot only the best view from Zacatecas, the rooms are really comfortable and always very clean; but most of all, it was very nice to have a very warm welcome every single day (I stayed for almost one month) to a National Charro Congress and the hotel crew is really capable, from the costume service manager Mrs. Lucy who was really kind and professional to the janitors who were always on point to do their job. I for certainly will recomend it and for sure I will stay there the next year. 

The best hotel at Zacatecas

It was very outdated and the water didn't work the drain smelled like death and water stood in the shower and didn't drain for 2 hours. Things were unplugged stuff was hanging off the door to the balcony would not close and lock. I paid really good money to have an upgrade to a king size bed get there I have two queen size beds? Nobody could answer the question of why they on the last night changed my room to the worst room probably in the whole hotel? It was right at an intersection of the stairs and the hallway people walked and talked all night long plus it was on the highway side of the hotel which you had a hill with the big trucks with their whatever the hell. I wouldn't recommend it no there's got to be better!

I wouldn't let my dog stay there, they claim to be a five star when they're really maybe a two and that's pushing it

We've stayed here twice and are likely to stay twice more due to travel requirements. The staff are numerous and invariably helpful and attentive. The rooms are spacious and well kept. While we didn't use the indoor pool or workout facilities, they are there and look adequate. There is RV camping with hookups available. 

The downsides are traffic noise and nothing within walking distance.

Stayed There Twice: Lovely Campus

Una terrible experiencia nos hospedamos una noche, a las 4 am descubrimos varias chinches en la cama, llamamos a recepcion y acudio una persona a ver la situacion, la solución fue cambiarnos a otra habitacion, sin embargo el gerente atravez del recepcionista solo se disculpo e indico que el desayuno seria gratis. Sin embargo ya estaba incluido en el pago que hicimos a la agencia donde reservamos. Es grave esta situacion, no es un higienico donde hospedarse.

A terrible experience we stayed one night, at 4 am we discovered several bed bugs, we called reception and a person came to see the situation, the solution was to move to another room, however the manager through the receptionist only apologized and I indicated that breakfast would be free. However, it was already included in the payment we made to the agency where we booked. This situation is serious, it is not a hygienic where to stay.

It seems like a lot of people are turned off because the hotel is "outdated" but remember where you're at. Zacatecas is small town Mexico and this hotel is full of the characteristic colonial style charm of downtown Zacatecas. Love it!!

Zacatecas Charm

I had business in Fresnillo and needed to stay at a convenient hotel near the airport. My colleague who is Mexican booked at the Spa Hacienda Baruk and I followed suit without reading the reviews.
Later on upon reading the reviews I started having regrets about my decision but decided to bear with it for the convenience.

When arriving at the hotel there is a large fountain facing the entrance and a outside parking lot with plenty of spaces.
Check in was a bit slower then I am used, but this is because they don't use a computerized reservation system. Everything was paper based, but they had my Expedia reservation OK and after a few minutes I was given my room key. 
They even have a bellhop who would show you to your room. Considering I just had carry on luggage and didn't think its a big deal to be shown the room, I politely declined. Plus I didn't feel like tipping someone for an unwanted ‘service’. I think that this was a rather archaic part of the hotel which coupled with the non computerized reservation gave me a bad vibe.

The hallways are narrow and sparsely decorated with a cold white paint scheme that was repeated throughout the hotel. A pleasant sound of water drew me to the pool area. 
I think that the pool is the hallmark of this hotel. It's clean and though completely indoors, did not have the institutional feel that I find most hotel pools had. From here I saw a decently equipped gym with actual bars and weight plates. One could actually do a real workout here, and not just a ‘hotel’ workout.
When I opened the door to the room, I was pretty shocked about how dark and gloomy it appeared, even after turning on every light in the room. The problem I they use fluorescent light bulbs which give off a very weak and cold light. After a few minutes  they get brighter,  but they do a disservice to the room. In the daylight the room has a spanish appeal to it, but this is all lost at night.
There was also a noticeable damp smell to the room, which quickly subsided once the air conditioner was turned on and cooled the room a bit.
The bathroom has a roman shower in it, with good levels of pressure and hot water so no complaints there. Sconces o the wall could be tightened as they are hanging loose and overall the room could use a fresh coat of paint.
The bed was very comfortable and had no problems falling asleep. Room service was very good, with some nice personal touches. 

The one negative that I read about this hotel was that the restaurant, and in particular the food, was lacking. I had breakfast and supper at this restaurant for 4 days snd have to say that I was very happy with every thing that I had. 
The breakfast was a simple breakfast buffet that was made of Mexican standards, but there was also freshly made eggs and cereals on hand too. Granted this buffet’s selection didn’t have the standards of the typical North American breakfast(sausages, bacon, waffles, etc) but hey, this is probably a place that caters to mostly Mexican nationals so it is to be expected.
The main meals that I had were all traditional Mexican. Well prepared and presented and large portions too. Every meal that I had was excellent. 

Overall the Spa Hacienda Baruk is an ideal location for business travellers who want the convenience of quick access to the Mexico 45 highway and a good restaurant.

Good for Business traveler who just wants a convenience

RV area is a cobblestone parking lot with electric hookups. The electricity kept surging. My surge protector was doing its job. Bu t I was without electricity most of the time. The public restrooms had showers and we're nice. The hotel grounds were nice also. The pool looked good. The restaurant was so so.

Stayed in RV area with small motorhome

Great presence but out of date facilities. We were given a room in a wing that was under repair and the construction noise was really bothersome. I requested to change the room and they always responded, later or tomorrow.  I was only there for 3 days so there was really no change ever made.  The pool is small but attractive and the gym looked complete.  I do not recommend this hotel due to its poor service.
