We stayed at Villas Mercedes several times on our way to the States and back. Jorge, Elena and all the staff provided excellent service. Room 4 has a nice tub on the balcony, and we also stayed in room 8, off the pool. Rooms were clean and comfortable. 

Best Choice in Zihuatanejo.

Villas Mercedes has a great location and thoughtful, friendly staff. My spouse and I stayed in Rm 2 on the 1st floor,  that looks out to the pool. It features 1 bedroom, a kichenette with a regular size refrigerator, hot plate, toaster, and a coffee maker. It has a large living room with couches that could double for single beds. Jorge was very helpful in allowing us to print out boarding passes on the front desks computer (American at ZIH does not allow electronic boarding passes). The front of Villas was repainted white while we visited. The beach is only 2 blocks, and many good restaurants are across  the street. We spent a great week and will be back.

Another Great Stay at Gem of a Hotel.

We have been returning year after year before going to our stay at a resort. We love the location to all the different little restaurants on Calle Adelitas. It is amazing how many restaurants that have sprung up since the street had been closed and reopened. So many now offer the grilling on the street. A few it seams on some nights to have reservations. If we don't have reservations at our favorite and is full, we will just walk along until we find one that has what we want. The hotel is small and have guest that return year after year and your choice of rooms may not be available in the high season. The returning guest will make reservations while there to make sure of the choices available at the time. We have have waited a week before making reservations and the room we wanted will not be available.

Favorite little hotel in "Z".

Villas Mercedes is a lovely little boutique hotel, very close to El Centro of Zihua. The employees were all so friendly and helpful. Our room had everything we needed, and the hotel is located within easy access of everything we needed. The price was right as well. There is a nice pool and deck area to lounge at if you don't go to the beach, and it is easy to walk or take a collectivo pretty much anywhere we wanted to go.

Great little boutique hotel, with easy access

We try and stay here a week before our Timeshare. We had some problems in the States because of having to Change flight dates. We were not sure when we could come down. This was Monday before our flight on Sat. We were told we would be reimbursed for each night that wasn't booked. Was glad we got back to the hotel soon enough and only lost 1 night of our 7 nights(our room was held). We love the hotel for it's location. We tell everyone when  at Mercedes we are staying in the real world and when we go to our Timeshare we are in Fantasy Land. Basically you have to book before you leave for the 9 rooms fill up fast. Within 2 days after leaving the room we wanted was gone. We had to book our weeks for 2020 at the Timeshare before booking Mercedes. It's really surprising how many people that you have met the previous years are there- says something about location and hotel. This is just a nice clean hotel that offer the basics. If someone is looking for Luxury, this is the wrong hotel.

Back Again

Jorge is the most helpful person!  He is the person that makes the hotel awesome.  He hauled our big heavy suitcase up the stairs (no elevator). We asked about drinkable water and Jorge brought up a 5 gallon jug of water. If a light burnt out it was changed right away.  If needed assistance speaking to a taxi driver, Jorge was our helper.

Kitchen has a couple of knives, silverware, cutting board, 2 frying pans but NO pot. There is a mini fridge but the small freeze door has been broken off so all our vegetables froze in the fridge and if we turned the fridge down, nothing would stay frozen and the bar at the bottom of the fridge door was gone so we couldn’t place milk or pop or tall items upright on the door. The room 6 mini fridge needs replacing. Unable to use the BBQ currently because of Covid so it is only for employees.  

It took awhile for hot water to arrive but there was hot water. There were small soaps and shampoo.  Needed to borrow the hair dryer from the front desk. 

Pool was very cold but certainly cooled us down! Pool Towels supplied at the front desk and returned to the front desk.

The safe is very small, it was difficult to get our 2 ten inch iPads into it. Our larger concern about the safe was we had to open it with a key and didn’t know how many other people had access to the same safe key.  If the keypad worked, then only we would know the keypad number, this is the one item I wish the hotel owners would update. 

There are double locks on the balcony door, only 1 door handle lock on the interior door, no deadbolt or swing bar lock that would give extra security. And as other reviews, all keys are still on 1 key ring.  We brought a couple of small lights that hang so if we needed to take the power key out to open the safe, we had light. Suggestion to owner is to add a battery powered light in the closet that sticks on the wall.

It was very nice that the Villa Mercedes has a lot of restaurants around it but if you want to go to the Malecon, it is only about a 10 minute walk.  

Villas Mercedes is clean, has hot water, and is in a great location.  Jorge is very helpful.  I have already recommended Villas Mercedes to friends and we will return in the future.

Nice, clean, well located hotel.

It ticks all our boxes. Small, quiet and a great location. Only seven room, most have kitchens and balcony. Clean, friendly staff. Located on restaurant row and one block to Playa La Madera. Walkable to downtown Zih. 
We've stayed here a few times. There has always been a good mix of guest...friendly.
Can't complain about the price...around  $30.00 a day.
We usually combine a few days here with another week elsewhere on the beach.

Small, Quiet, Location

We only stayed a couple of days while moving from a hotel on La Ropa to La Madera.  Small hotel with an excellent staff..friendly and helpful. Our room was quite large with a small kitchenette and balcony overlooking the pool area. We were worried about the noise but it was quiet. Comfy beds...hard to find in Mexico. Great pool area with loungers and umbrellas. Can't beat this location..close to downtown Zih, loads of great restaurants and La Madera beach. Prices here are incredible...we paid around $30. a day. The room, common area and pool area were keep very clean. We were lucky when we stayed that there was a good mix of guests that made it fun.

Great Location and Price

I stayed here at the end of April for a couple of days when my usual condo wasn't quite ready. Couldn't have picked a better hotel. Great value for the money.

For those who don't know Zihuatanejo, the hotel is on Calle Adelita, which has lots of gringo patronized restaurants within easy walking distance...as is downtown.

The place is immaculate, well run with friendly efficient staff. There is a small courtyard with pool, lounge chairs etc. My room was small, but had AC, fridge, microwave etc, and an ensuite.

I was able to peek inside one of the suites. They looked tailor made for longer stays.

All in all I'd highly recommend.

Nice little place!

A great location for people who really would rather not be in Mexico, just somewhere warm and sunny, surrounded by gringos, Canadians and Quebecois.  Rooms are clean, comfortable, (except for the rock like pillows, some choice perhaps?), in a building with more lock up security than Alcatraz, which I’m sure makes the majority of fearless tourists feel safe but tends to be a real inconvenience with a pocketful of keys to deal with.  The weird electrical set-up and spotty wifi are off-putting, and small maintenance issues - falling apart paper holder, window screens held in place with tape are typical small hotel Mexican issues.  So ... if you are uncomfortable around locals, feel insecure in your ability to deal with normal travel issues, and your normal holiday routine is a cruise or a condo, then this definitely is an adventure for you, but one that will make you feel safe, as well as brave.  Prices vary throughout the year and the fact that people consider the prices inexpensive just highlights my previous thoughts on the type of people who stay here, most of whom never seem to leave the compound.  But, overall, a nice place, always full.
