Chisinau Glorious Shack Hostel

Based on my stay in August, I would highly recommend staying at the Glorious Shack. Along with three friends, I stayed or three nights and it was a great base for our time in Moldova. The hostel owner was friendly and very helpful, answering all of our questions about how to get to various places in Moldova (including the famous Gates of Chisinau!) He also let us drop our bags off early and have showers when we arrived before our official check-in time (we'd been on a long overnight train). The hostel was comfortable. The kitchen was a good size and clean, and both the toilets and bathroom were also kept clean and tidy. The bedrooms were a good size, the beds were comfortable (and long!) and came with space to store clothes/secure valuables. For a small fee (I think 40 lei) we could also wash clothes. The upstairs also had air conditioning. The hostel is in a good location - a short trolleybus ride from the train station, and less than five minutes walk from a supermarket (open until 10pm) and a couple of nice restaurants. Breakfast was not provided, but with a supermarket so close this was no problem. The hostel also arranges airport transfers (ours was about 75 lei for four people), and the journey took only 15 minutes first thing in the morning. If you're thinking of visiting Chisinau, I would suggest looking no further than the Glorious Shack!
