Chisinau Hotel

On their homepage it says: "It's like visiting your granny, not modern, but clean, warm and relaxing". True! I don't agree with those comparing this with old Soviet hotels. It may be built in that period, but they lacked warmth and service. I think their own description gives a good account of the place, but myself I describe it purely as a "great experience". The welcome at the front desk was just great, lovely woman. I was upgraded as I'd arrived one day late due to flight cancellation but promised to pay for what I'd reserved. I was also warned that it might take some time before warm water comes from the shower as they're connected to the city's warm water. It's good that I was warned as otherwise I'd thought that there's no warm water as it really took 5-10 minutes to reach the fourth floor. The room was big and spacy and everything was functioning although it looked outdated. The A/C was modern and worked also as a heater. Everything was clean. The hotel really have no special facilities except the bar by the entrance. Breakfast was included in the low price and it was served in the same building, but you had to go out from the main entrance and in from another door. Before you went there you had to choose your breakfast out of three options and receive a ticket from the reception. Simple dishes. The breakfast room was in the same style decorated with old pictures from times passed. They also serve a daily two-course business lunch for just a couple of euro. Maybe the best deal in town. Only downside of the breakfast was that it didn't open before eight. Well, if you need to leave earlier, they can fix it for you. They'd made me three sandwiches the morning I checked out. The location is also great, a couple of malls and several good restaurants in the neighbourhood. The nearby huge park is perfect for morning running. I shall return!
