I had the smallest, cheapest room in the hotel as it was fully booked.  But it was perfectly fine; a comfortable bed (though I always travel with my own cotton linen!) breazy with windows looking out over the garden and mountain.  The staff are lovely, so helpful and welcoming and the place immaculate.

Yasin kindly orgaised a lady to henna my hair on the roof terrace and directed me to a great local hamam.  Eating at the excellent attached El Cielo restarant was perfection.

Such a heavenly spot to have a stay in! The room was surrounded by greenery, and the restaurant was right next to us. Absolutely recommend for someone to enjoy and experience Chefchaouen to the fullest.There is not much parking available on the street. From the street the hotel is located up a few sets of cobblestone steps.

Amazing traditional hotel, will definitely return

It’s a Beautiful hotel. I enjoyed my one night stay. For any first time travelers like me, Be advised there are a lot of stairs which I was not expecting (I had a lot of luggage). Overall the experience and the restaurant were fabulous.

Loved this hotel!  It was very unique and different. Booked two separate rooms and one of the rooms would not have been good for anyone with any type of accessibility issues as there is a high step to the bathroom and the bed area.  We had no issues.  The stairs to the rooms are a little steep as well. Service was great and the hotel had their own restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel staff assisted with our luggage as well which was very helpful.

The stay was pleasant and the hotel is in a strategic location in the heart of the old medina. It offers also delicious meals and a nice espresso. Our room had an amazing view on the two "horns" of Chefachuen.

Great location and staff. We loved it so much we decided to stay another night.

Tranquille and characterful

When you arrive to hotel walking through the narrow and beautiful streets of “Quartier Sebanine” in the old Medina you really feel you are in a fairy tale. It is so pretty my jaw dropped. I was met by Bader who was extremely kind, welcoming and helpful. The hotel is full of small passages and well decorated nooks all in with great taste. My room was on the third floor. Well ventilated, it had all the essentials for comfortable stay, AND THE VIEW was fantastic!! It made me feel likeI didn’t want to go anywhere else.

A jewel in Chefchaouen!!

Nestled within the mesmerizing blue city of Chefchaouen, Morocco, lies a hidden oasis of tranquility and beauty - the Hotel Molino Garden. During a three-night visit in July, my wife and I were captivated not only by the enchanting charm of Chefchaouen but also by the unique allure of our chosen accommodation.

Chefchaouen, with its picturesque blue-painted buildings, is a haven for travelers seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. This quaint city is surrounded by natural wonders, and its rich history is exemplified by attractions like the old mosque, Sabanin, and the neighboring school named after the 18th-century Muslim theologian Soulayman El Hawat. The neighborhood's watermills, notably the hotel's previous incarnation as a watermill, serve as a testament to the city's ancient past.

Our chosen abode, Hotel Molino Garden, proved to be a rare gem at the heart of Chefchaouen. Situated on the outskirts of the old city, the hotel's calm ambiance was an oasis within an oasis. The magical garden, a collaborative effort with the neighboring primary school, transported us to a world of serenity. Designed with impeccable taste, the garden featured bamboo trees, goldfish ponds, and an ingenious layout that cocooned us from the city's clamor, while seamlessly connecting us to the majestic mountain backdrop.

The hotel's rooms were an embodiment of comfort and history. Our first night was spent in the Garden Room, a cozy apartment with two bedrooms and a living room, all overlooking the captivating garden. Despite the summer heat, the room remained naturally cool, eschewing the need for air conditioning. The second night introduced us to a separate apartment adjacent to the hotel - a meticulously restored old house exuding aesthetics and charm. Once again, the absence of air conditioning was hardly a concern, as the natural ventilation kept us comfortable.

Our final night at Hotel Molino Garden saw us in a cozy room on the upper floor, providing a glimpse of the lively alley leading to the hotel entrance. Each accommodation told a unique tale, seamlessly blending modern amenities with the city's rich heritage.

No visit to Chefchaouen would be complete without indulging in its culinary delights. With guidance from locals, we embarked on a gastronomic journey. Restaurant Bab Ssour stole our hearts with its delectable local offerings and incredible flavors. The restaurant's two branches, both boasting stunning terraces and panoramic views, were equally enchanting. Another culinary highlight was Restaurant Triana, where a delightful breakfast and a riverside terrace provided an unforgettable dining experience. Although the food was mostly exceptional, a minor hiccup was encountered with the Tira Asada, where the beef's dryness detracted from an otherwise delightful meal.

For quick bites and refreshing juices, the main square led us to MIDO's. Their impeccable falafel and warm hospitality made it a go-to spot for rejuvenating snacks.

In summary, our journey to Chefchaouen and our stay at Hotel Molino Garden were an enchanting blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. The hotel's idyllic garden, charming rooms, and proximity to cultural landmarks made it a true haven within the blue city. The culinary explorations added yet another layer of delight to our trip, as we indulged in the local flavors recommended by friendly locals. Chefchaouen, with its bewitching allure, will forever hold a special place in our hearts, and Hotel Molino Garden served as the perfect gateway to this captivating Moroccan gem.

Enchanting Escape to Chefchaouen: A Magical Stay at Hotel Molino Garden

This was a perfect hotel in Chefchaouen. Beautiful house with well decorated rooms and terraces, as well as a lovely garden. The hotel has both Moroccan charm and modern amenities. The breakfast and tea are excellent. Bilal and Mohammed were wonderful hosts. They suggested an amazing family restaurant for dinner which we would not have found otherwise. Bilal also helped us discover things to see in Chefchaouen. The hotel has a great location on a cute street and very walkable to all of the sites. Highly recommend overall

Beautiful hotel with amazing service

I am so glad we stayed here for two nights.  Bilel (?) greeted us and was the perfect host, so welcoming and helpful with local information.  This was the perfect place for us.  The room and bathroom were of good size, the bed so comfortable and the view of the garden from our windows lovely.  Bilel took us to a neighboring restaurant for breakfast and it was spectacular - delicious food, wonderful freshly squeezed orange juice and a beautiful view from the terrace looking up toward the Spanish mosque.  Bilel shared directions on walking up to the Spanish mosque and it was so worth it for the view.  The Molino is a great location for exploring the town and was easy to find.  Thank you for making our time in Chefchaouen special.  We highly recommend this hotel.

Spectacular find in the medina!

We really enjoyed our short stay at Molino Garden. The staff were very nice and helpful, the room was different from every hotel i have ever been! All blue and beautiful with a little terrasse. We loved the location, the peace, the homemade breakfast and above everything, the friendly and fluffy cats! They were loved and well treated by the hotel. There is nothing we didnt like, thank you for great stay! 

Perfect stay!

4 friends comfortably shared an apartment in the old town. An authentic experience made even better by the staff. Request for late breakfast allowed us to sleep in. The apartment has x2 bathrooms with showers. Gas stove available for cooking but plenty of restaurant options nearby. Yasin spent the day showing us the best parts of his city. Make sure to walk up to the Spanish mosque for a magnificent view. 

The best of Chefchaouen 

What a lovely little hotel!  In a great location a short stroll from the river in one direction, but also close to the hustle and bustle of the medina in the other.  Full of character, the hotel is a great choice for a stay in Chefchaouen.  My room was on the first floor, at the front of the hotel, overlooking the tiny square in front.  When I first walked into my room there was a very strong but pleasant aroma which I initially thought was from some kind of artificial air freshener, but I soon realised that it was actually from the large jasmine bush that grows on the front of the hotel, so was entirely natural!  

The private garden to the rear is beautiful - as I write (April 2019) it's currently under renovation, with a new pond being installed, but it also has another pond already full of fish, with a small waterfall that makes a lovely relaxing sound.  There are also many tropical trees and plants.  I understand they're also in the process of building a restaurant at the rear.  If you choose to eat breakfast at the hotel, it will be served on the terrace that overlooks the garden.

The shower room in my room was small, but functional, with a good, hot shower.  The building is of course very old, and as the name suggests, was originally a mill rather than a hotel.  This does mean that there are staircases that those with mobility issues may find a challenge.  In my room there was also quite a high step up from the small entry vestibule area into the room itself, which some may find a little challenging.  But to me, it all added to the character of the place, as did the predominantly blue decor, which blended in perfectly with the blue medina of Chefchaouen.

Some have said that the hotel is difficult to find, although personally I found it quite easily.  I had taken a taxi from the bus station, which takes you as far up the mountain as cars are allowed, and stops at the bottom of the steps that lead up to the hotel.  I was advised by the driver to head up the first few steps, then to take the first left and continue to follow the steps up.  When you get to the top of those steps, look to the left and there it is!

A word of warning - the local mosque is literally next door to the hotel, so unless you're a heavy sleeper, the chances are that you will be woken by the call to prayer at around 5am!  Personally I found that on my first night at the hotel it woke me up, reminded me I was in Morocco, and I went straight back to contented sleep.  Although the second morning, for some reason it seemed to go on forever...I struggled to get back to sleep after that one!

Overall, I loved the place, and hope some day to return!

An oasis of calm

Hotel Molino Garden is a very homely, small family establishment with a warm atmosphere, beautiful garden and perfect location to go up hiking in the Rif Mountains, Ras El Ma Waterfalls and also to visit the blue streets of Chefchaouen.
The team is always there and ready to help with a kind, friendly and gentle approach.
 
Our room was beautifully decorated with an extra heater and blankets that came handy at night during our few nights stay in mid February.
There's a Mosque next door and the prayers do start very early, however after our first morning this became part of our daily routine & experience of our cultural journey.

Petit taxi cost us 20 Dirham to the old blue town from the CTM bus station and the driver dropped us off at a square about a minute walk away from the hotel. Don't miss the Old City, Kasbah, Medina, the local berbere artisanal shops for a bargain shopping and the local hammam (2-3 minutes walk from the Molino Garden).
There are specific times for males and females and you'll get a proper taster of a traditional wash and a good scrab lasting your entire holiday leaving you refreshed and feeling fantastic.

Prices are very fair, the best value for money compared to our other riads we stayed at and the shop owners seem also to be way more relaxed and laid back versus our experience in Fez el Bali or Marrakesh.

It's easily one of the best places to stay at in Chaouen and it's certainly been the highlight of my Moroccan roadtrip.

Landed in a fairly tale 💙

After a long days drive and exploring it took us 1/2hr in town to find Molino. Google maps have been a pain in the butt and have not been giving accurate directions so even getting close seemed a streak of luck. People are always willing to help but as always there is a price. In the end we found parking about 250 metres away(20DM). Someone directed and carried our bags(60DM). 
Check in was great and we were made to feel welcome and offered the choice of two rooms. We opted for the rooftop with separate bathroom. A small but comfy and warm room as temps outside were cool.
Proximity to Medina is great. It is a very beautiful spot and look forward to breakfast. Cost was reasonable.
