We had a great time at Riad Dar Assia. The owner is the friendliest person you will ever meet and very helpful if you ask anything, giving us directions into the medina and to the bus stations with the best times to go making sure to get to book the bus we wanted (which was very useful since it indeed solds out very quickly after opening). Sad to see some bad comments here from people expecting a 5 stars hotel treatment, this is a riad not a spa! Breakfast is not included but the price of the room is very low and it says so! We had clean towels, several blankets and air conditioning, no need for more. Only thing I have to complaint was the mattress, I have back problems and it was a bit hard and not straight so I had a bit of pain in the morning, but that was not terrible either.

We had a peaceful time which was what we wanted, a big room at a cheap price, only another couple on the other side of the hall so we felt like kings. Rooftop with a table to enjoy some time alone with a view during evenings or morning. Very quiet place which can be a luxe in Morocco right inside the center of the medina. 

We would happily come back again. Gael & Helena.

The perfect place to stay in Fes

Finding the general location is easy but it was slightly difficult to find the door itself.  I think it was mostly the people around trying to misdirect and "help" us.  The door was also closed.  We knocked and called to no answer.  We had to wait over 2 hours in order to check-in.  Luckily one of the other guests finally opened the door after we had been banging on it so much so we were at least able to put our luggage down.

Check-in was weird.  They showed us the room and gave us the keys but that was it.  It was when we were tipsy in the middle of the night that they asked for our information and money.  My friend booked this hotel and was supposed to be able to use his credit card.  Nope.  Cash only.  Luckily I had just enough on me.

The room was nice.  We had the downstairs suite.  Except for the black mold in the shower, it was clean.  The bed was as hard as a rock but comfortable enough.  we didn't have any extras such as breakfast but they did let us use the kitchen to make coffee.  The WiFi was ok.  

The manager (I think) is very nice and tries really hard to speak English.  He may have been a bit too friendly but that's ok.  I appreciate he would offer us drinks.  

The view from the roof is great.  And I felt like this riad was super quiet.  You could not hear the street noise at all.  The location is great as well.  Not too far from the blue gate so you're not lugging your luggage far.

Highs and lows

The whole experience was so unforgettable. The clean and simple room was spacious and moroccan style. I like the whole living space. In addition, the host was so hospitable and helpful. He was humble and able to meet your needs. He even treated me with that wonderful and delectable moroccan lamb chops with mint teas. Awesome. Love to come back if I can.

4 Nights Stay in Marrakech

the riad is in a narrow street on one of the main streets of the médina, close to the blue gate. you are close to anything in the old town so the location is convenient. staff was nice and welcoming. good value for the money we paid! not too clean, beds were a little hard, wifi is slow. no breakfast included (but we knew).

Nice stay in Fez Medina

The riad is difficult to find. The entrance is in a small street and there is a small sign next to the entrance door. Maybe they could make a more visible inscription. 
But location is great, close to main attractions and close to parking outside the medina. 
But they accept us as a friends. Even if man does not speam great english, we were communicating in german. 
He prepared us mint tea as a welcome drink. He offered us also a evening snack and moroccan vine. :) 
The room was clean, with own bathroom. 
They have also air-conditioner and we could heat the room. In December it is quite cold and im evenings is good to have heating what is not common in Fez. 
They offer also the breakfast for 2eur/person. 


Great location

Upon arrival, we had a hard time looking for the place, even with the help of a local porter. But once we got our bearing, it was quite easy and convenient as it is in a side street just off a main street. Saeed, the manager, took care of our every request, including putting a street light to light the way to the riad at night. The room was comfortable and big enough for 3 people, it was quiet(we were the only 3 guests) in the riad, the location is not too far from one of the main medina gates, Bab Boujluod. The breakfast was more than enough and we always had refreshing cold drinking water and fruits welcoming us after a hot day outside.
