I stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. I got the large room which had plenty of space and its own bathroom. The entrance was off the main lobby so chilled here to read and hit the Internet. Ahmed was perfect host and helped us with any trips we wanted to organize and busses to get us on our way. The Riad is in the heart of the Medina and easy to find, we used Google maps to locate it and once we had our bearings returned each day without issues.

Beautiful Riad 

The best random search ever! Fantastic place and amazing interior in a great location. Pleasant atmosphere, big comfortable room and super professional service by Ahmad the owner who came up with all the necessaryinfo about fez. From the very first moment you feel at home. This place is highly recommended!

Recommendation

The riad is great and can definitely recommend staying here. The girl working there (Maryam) is very nice and helpful, you can ask her everything and she will do her best to help. The owner (Ahmed) was also very helpful, he arranged all of our airport transfers. 

We had a normal double room, it is not very big, but completely comfortable for 2 people. It was also very clean and the room had everything needed. Breakfast was fresh and quite rich - we had a variety of food every day. The only negative side of the riad is the location - it is at the end of the medina and finding your way to the Blue gate is definitely an adventure!

Great riad - can totally recommend!

First the good news,Maryam (  The day to day running of the Riad  )Yousaf  (  The owners brother )  and Ahmed   ( The owner  )  were all spot on. Good comms and everything was dealt with in a professional manner.  That's the end of the good news.
Although I liked the owners and the staff my loyalties lie with the paying public and a good and fair review should be given.
Now,I've never stayed in a Riad before so I've really haven't got anything to measure the Meski against. Maybe  a lot of my negatives are just synonymous with Riads and I shouldn't be so negative about them.
The Meski had 8 bedrooms,4 for guests and 4 for the family living there. From what I could tell there were  3 smallish bedrooms and 1 family room,which my friends had. The family room was huge,with a double bed and 2 single beds and A decent size bathroom. My room you couldn't swing a cat in,there was a double bed in it however,there wasn't even a wardrobe in it,you had to hang your clothes on a set of 4 clothes pegs. Come to think of it,my friends room didn't have a wardrobe in it either.
The noise levels in the Meski were pretty loud,I don't know if that happens with all Riads because of the design,but this was ridiculous. You could hear the phone notifications pinging. I'm a very heavy sleeper,but my friends aren't,so be wary.
Both bathrooms kept flooding when you took a shower and my friends sink even flooded when they brushed their teeth or shaved. We were told that the pipes were very thin and these things happen,not too happy,it was quite disgusting.
The beds weren't made in the whole of the 4 days of our visit. Surely you shouldn't have to ask for  clean towels or toilet rolls  !!!. There wasn't a TV in any of our rooms,no safe either for our valuables,plus the room door security was pretty weak,a decent shove and your in. The doors were pretty rickety. We did mention the security element to Maryam and she assured us that nothing would happen,all her family lives there and it's completely safe. TBH  it was reassuring,but it may put off some people.
The Riad itself was in the Medina,I'm betting if you hid Bin Laden in there there's no way the  CIA  are getting him. We're quite tech savvy and we just kept getting lost. Until the last day when we clocked it. The local Street kids could see that you were lost and would eagerly take you home,whether you wanted them to or not. They could become very agitated if you didn't give them any money for taking you home. 20  Dirhams would  be good enough,but it's just another awkward inconvenience that you can well do without.
The smell outside the Meski was just terrible,like a dead animal or something,bags of domestic litter were just left on the road,although later cleared in the meantime the smell was awful. Even on the inside there was a terrible smell ftom the bathroom,not in mine fortunately,but in my friends room.
In conclusion I feel that for the same money or just a bit more a better Riad can be attained.


NEEDS IMPROVING 

The riad is very authentic and the staff were very helpful and kind. The manager was very attentive and was always willing to help out with local advise. The overall experience was like being welcomed into a family home and looked after. We will definitely be back!

Excellent service and very authentic riad

We landed in Fes 11pm local time and after sorting our car hire and follwing waze (google maps only shows preview) we arrived near the location. By the time we reached the place it was about 12am. You must park your car on the main road and then pay the parking attendant about 5 DH or less per car is reasonable. It is a 10 minute walk to the Riad. We were thirsty and as all the shops were shut we thought we will at least get water from the staff at the place but ... NO! there was not a single drop of safe clean drinking water available. there was 9 of us in 2 rooms but we were equally shocked to find there was no heater electric or gas in any of the bedrooms. We did receive 2 blankets each but the room was still far too cold and led to a difficult poor nights sleep. In the morning it was a change of scenery, a fully laid out breakfast table with coffee, tea, bread, pastry and yogurt. As we stayed for 2 nights we requested egg omelettes to be served the next day, they initially refused but after offering to pay for the service they then agreed with extra coffee/tea. The shower room was structurally fragmented. The toilet was not set in stone as to speak, it was swaying from side to side as you leant forward or side to side. the wall where the shower was situated had exposed wall where there was no tiling and was disgusting to look at. The only positive aspect of it was that there was a good flow of hot running water and sufficient towels were provided.

3 Stars - only cos of the price and breakfast

Plus: the owner's mom is really a good cooker, and the food is very tasty and reasonably priced.  You might want to mention early if you want to eat at the Riad.

Minus,  this is really a 1-2 star facility and very simple and basic. There is no heating and we had to cover ourselves with blankets.  Shower and bath is kind of substandard.  You can hear noise throughout the property.    Cleanness: okay. 

I would put it in the last place out of 6 Riads we stayed in Morocco.
