Hassan is such a fantastic host and the hostel he has built is one of a kind. 
The hostel is lovely and unique and Hassan made our trip to Merzouga.
 The hostel is decorated with generations of travelers art work. Hassan welcomed us to add to the walls our own peices. It was a really cool to leave something behind and also a nice chill activity to do during those Saraha afternoons. 
He offered a welcome to his town and an insight into life in the Sahara I couldn't imagine us getting otherwise.
Hassan went above and beyond the expectations of a great host and I would definately recomend staying at his hostel.

What a fantastic experience!

I was travelling for some months and I have to say this Hostel and experience was my favorite Hassan, was such a great Host makes you feel like home with all his helpfull and friendly attention, such a great person. I will never forget my experience in this hostel and in the desert highly recommended (:

BEST EXPERIENCE

Hassan, the host, is friendly, accommodating and very relaxed. He provided breakfast every morning, even when we slept in the sand dunes not the hostel, and went out of his way to help all guests with anything they needed. The hostel felt like home, and is easily my favourite in Morocco. Treat it with respect and Hassan will do the same for you :)

Definitely Stay Here!

I stumbled upon hostel Hassan a day after I arrived in merzouga. I had stayed at a hotel the night before because I did not realize there was a hostel in town. Hassan welcomed me in right away and offered breakfast, tea and coffee even though I hadn’t even stayed the night yet. The property is nice with an awesome courtyard you can take your bed to and sleep under the stars. He has 3 cats that are super playful in the morning and evening (2 are kittens). Hassan himself is the nicest hostel owner I’ve met. He can arrange any activity you could want in the desert and he always has the lowest prices of anywhere else I asked. If you want to go somewhere on your own without paying for a guide, Hassan is full of knowledge and will tell you all you need to know to get there. (He told us how to get to flamingo lake by foot, best time to go, and the best spot on the lake for a sunset view!)
He also speaks perfect English and will even teach you some of the Berber language if you want. Instead of just checking you in and out, he likes to hang out if you’re on the property and he’s the chillest guy I’ve met in Morocco. He even went grocery shopping for a few of us and we all made tajine together for dinner. I’ve Ben at some great hostels all over Asia, Central America, and Europe, but so far this hostel has been above and beyond the best. It is also the best value in town. I paid only 60 dirham (6usd)/night for my own room! If you come to merzouga as a solo traveler (or a social traveler), you would be mistaken not to stay at hostel Hassan!!

BEST HOSTEL IN THE WORLD!

Hassan, the host is super chilled, helpfull and friendly. He always makes Breakfest with delicious tee and/or Coffee. If there are enough people, even traditional marrocain Dinner in the evening. 

The place is best for Just relaxing and living into the day. There is a garden behind the Hostel where you can grab fresh dates from the trees. 

The rooms are easy but confortable. No Bugs or anything. Hassan makes sure that everything (incl. Bathroom) is Clean.  

I really enjoyed my stay and can stongly recommend this Hostel.



Best Hostel in Marokko!

I truly frothed this experience, Hassan is a top bloke and he's a real fair dinkum battler. If you arrive to his hostel, he will give you a fair go; what more do you want? Unbelievable hospitality, he goes above and beyond to ensure his guests are comfortable. If you want 5 star facilities, then go somewhere else but just know that I would stay in a roofless mud hut if it meant experiencing the desert experience with Hassan. We also arranged our camel trip through Hassan and he organised everything - no hassles at all during our stay. I would leave the hostel 6 stars if I could, and everyone we spoke to felt the same. Don't listen to the other drongos leaving bad reviews, this place is as true blue as it gets.

Hassan is the single greatest human being on this Earth

This is by far the best hospitality I have experienced in Morocco. There is 24/7 hot water, clean working toilets and are free to wash and hang out you’re clothes. Hassan is a wonderful cook and is more than happy to teach you if you ask. From the day we arrived we felt strait at home and even extended our time there. He made us breakfast everyday, put himself out way further than anyone else to make sure you have the correct bus tickets/tours. I defiantly reccomend this beautiful hostel located a short walk from the sand dunes. I loved my time here and I can’t wait to come back. Experience this place !!!!!

This hostel is ok if you are in your early twenties and want to slum as though in a dope commune.

The mattresses are so worn that the stone bed that they are on is more comfortable. The beds are made with some of the sheets missing, and the bed throws, while being warm, are both dusty and grimey.

We didn't eat dinner at the hostel, although a communal dinner is cooked each night. The fly infested stale breakfast buffet is served in the waiting area for the hostels desert experience, next to the small grease covered communal kitchen. Tip: best to get up early for the breakfast to avoid eating stale donuts.

The showers and toilets in the hostel are miserable with broken seats and dodgy locks. They are however well supplied with toilet roll, including the floor of the showers. 

The walls of the hostel are covered in nice murals presumably done by the grateful youths who have shared a joint and a meal with the hostels friendly staff.

We left a mostly positive review on hostelworld, which can still be viewed, and in response to this the hostels owner found my girlfriends facebook page and left her an offensive post (screenshotted).

Do not stop here, do not support bad businesses. Go instead to the wonderful  high quality and cheaper Auberge La Source in the next village.

Unclean, uncomfortable and offensive following a mainly positive review

Hassan was an absolute legend! We stayed here one night plus one night in the desert that we organised through the hostel. We got a warm welcome after a long day on motorbikes and got treated to a delicious meal which we helped prepare with some of the backpackers in the hostel kitchen. We all sat round together for dinner and chatted, everyone we met was lovely and we had such a fun evening hanging out with everyone. Hassan organised our overnight camel ride and desert stay which was epic (approx 350D) and we kept our baggage at the hostel. We had problems with our motorbike and Hassan got his brother over to help us. They were both awesome and helped us with getting the bike repaired. We made some awesome friends at this hostel and would highly recommend it! We were a group of 3 (me, my husband and brother-in-law) and we shared a 3 bedroom room which was great. The beds are singles and small but comfortable for a night or two. Our room was warm and we had plenty of blankets. The bathroom/toilet facilities are basic but the hot water is never ending and we were also able to do some washing out the back. Hassan also gave me a jar of chilli to take away with me that his mum made - amazing!! We had a fantastic stay, thank you!! 

Great hospitality, comfortable and warm stay

I loved my stay here :) Hassan goes over and above what I needed and takes amazing care of his guests. He accommodates early arrival from the overnight bus and helps with desert tours - just get yourself there and he will do the rest. Highly recommend 💜
