Moulay Idriss is a very traditional hillside small town, there are no conventional western style hotels. we wanted to stay somewhere near the Volubilis Roman town site and this fitted the bill.

We had planned to stay two nights. We received a warm welcome and offered traditional mint tea. Our room was satisfactory, but the place was generally very cluttered.

Unfortunately I caught a dose of the local version of Dehli belly, whether or not it was the result of eating something here I dont know. The food we ate was very good.

We had to stay an additional night because of my illness. They were very understanding and helpful.

Would I stay here again? Probably not, but you could do worse.

Very sympathetic when I became ill

I couldn't help but irked that there are only negative reviews for this gem of a budget hotel (in a town where not many foreigners are staying). Kasaba Senhaji, where I spent a night, and its proprietor (a friendly young woman with glasses who speaks mixed English-French) are actually real gem.

First, every parts of the hotel are spanking clean, a rarity among Moroccan budget hotels where generally there would be a little (albeit acceptable) stain on something. The owners must have paid very good attention to details here. There's even the only "bum gun" I've seen in Morocco, probably a rarity in this part of the world (and a real treat for me as someone from Bangkok, the bum gun capital city of the world). 

Contrary to what the other reviewer stated, the proprietor had managed to calculate the price I paid through the online converter app, which is 167 Moroccan Dirham (converted from 15 Euro quoted on booking.com). This gives the impression of fairness.

I didn't dine here (I dined at a Kefta parlour named Grillade Albanna, a Moulay Idriss specialty).

Overall, my best stay in Morocco (Casablanca and Meknes Area) trip as a budget traveler.

Such a crime there are only negative reviews! Sublime place!

We asked to be moved from the first room because the smell from the shower was sickening (obviously no 'S' bend). 
The bed in the 2nd room sloped to the left and we had to put a rolled up blanket under the mattress so I didn't roll out during the night. 
Shower basic.
The owner cooked us the best tangine we've had in this country but we omitted to ask the price first and ended up being charged about 35 Euros, which was exorbitant for what we got. Breakfast excellent. 
Owner very obligingly arranged a taxi to Fez and then took us to where it picked us up. 
Owner very keen to impress, and get good reviews, but needs to improve in a few areas.

Average

The accommodation was very uncomfortable and I don't think they are quite ready for prime time! The beds were sorely lumpy, the bathroom sparse and unclean. The price was reasonable and the location to Volubilis was good. The town had not opened to non-Muslims until a few years ago and it was obviously apparent here. Dinner was good and plentiful.
Perhaps, make other sleeping plans if you can.

Only location and nothing else!

We saw their price on booking.com at 14$ per night, when we arrived the rate was 200dh, about 3x more the the actual price on booking.  When we ask for tea, she charged 20dh and breakfast another 50 dh. She charged us for something else that was crazy. We were supposed to stay two nights, but we left after the first night.
