I stayed in Dar Zahia for two months (!) - January and February 2024 - and found it the most beautiful and charming home from home. I was lucky to have the room by the roof terrace where I could enjoy the warm winter sun and listen to the birdsong in the tops of the trees growing in the courtyard garden. Although Darzahia is practically in the middle of town a blissful quiet reigns, punctuated only five times a day when the muezzin very near by starts up his call to prayer. My friends and family who came to stay loved it. Heartfelt thanks to Zahia herself who, although prevented from being there, kept in close touch and especially to Sana, the wonderful manager. Sana was is not only an inexhaustible found of knowledge about Taroudant and its surroundings and excellent organiser of expeditions but also a veritable guardian angel who took care of me when I was ill and who helped and translated for us at the police station after my son-in-law was injured by a hit-and-run motorcyclist. Thanks also to Fatima Zahra, an excellent cook, and to Jamila who keeps the place spotless. An unforgettable time.

An unforgettable time

This riad is truely wonderful. It is a designer delight, renovated by an architect and his interior designer wife. It is beautiful with wonderful gardens and each room includes collector items placed in inset wall nooks. Shady and cool in the summer months. We spent many hours on the top floor terrace reading and enjoying the afternoon November sun and the garden.

The traditional Moroccan food in this riad is sensational. We ate here every night and the food here was the best we ate in Morocco. As a pescatarian I had a different meal each of the 4 nights we stayed

Truely wonderful, a designer’s delight with sensational food

love this house, so simple so beautiful, there is an harmony here, not show off at all just genuinely sincere.
Decoration is monochrome, garden look like wild but in fact it s like a arty creation, rooms are comfortable, mine was so cute with a private covered balcony, spacious sharing bathroom, some rooms have their own , don't worry.
Sana was a great host.
Breakfast and dinner are tasty and generous.

unique and Stunning

We have just returned from a seven-day stay at Darzahia, and we are missing it already! It was a tremendous privilege to have rented the entire Riad out for the week, nestled in the heart of Taroudant, it’s an oasis of peace and tranquillity. The surroundings are sumptuous: ginormous, tropical, cacti plants, trees in full bloom, pink and white flowers sprinkled the floors adding a magical touch. Not to mention, the delicate fragrance of jasmine flowers beautifully complementing in the design of the house. 

The house is generous. It is filled with local artwork carefully chosen and placed discreetly, in the and around their home, by Marc and Zahia. We had a particular fondness for the ceramic, green, dishes, displayed in the kitchen, and it was a real pleasure serving the food we cooked in them every evening. 
 
I was so exhausted from my job in London and welcomed the comfy beds. I would have been happy staying at the Riad, reading, drawing, cooking and taking it easy. The main feature for us all was the dipping pool. It gets incredibly hot in the afternoon, and after an excursion, a refreshing dip in the pool is most appreciated.
 
Some of our days were well spent enjoying the gardens of Darzahia. The gardens are a ten- minute drive from the house in a car. Again, an enchanting, abundant garden designed by Marc. The centrepiece is ‘Le Couloir’, a welcoming swimming pool, paired with a curtain of tropical plants, where we swam laps. There is a generous selection of spots to rest and soak up the atmosphere: hammocks, ample comfy loungers, small Japanese teahouses. Where we could take a nap – the whole garden is lovely and a must-see.
 
Lastly, we would like to say a big thank you to the personnel at Darzahia. Sana, thank you so much for arranging our excursions and Gitta’s birthday evening. Thank you, Said, for the tour of the local villages, the valley, the walk across the river bed, mountains and the delicious, generous meal we shared with your welcoming family. The chicken and olives tajine was to die for as was the charcoal oven bread. The best meal we ate during our stay in Taroudant!
 
Our last evening was sharing time with lovely Zahia, she showed us some of her favourite stores, local artisans, in the Souk. We shared stories until late into the night over G&T’s and a bottle of wine. 
 
It was our very first time in Morocco and at Darzahia. We will visit soon.

An oasis of peace and tranquillity

A little heaven on earth! We had the best stay at DarZahia, perfect for travellers who enjoy relaxing as much as wandering through the city of Taroudant. You are right in the centre of the city. The house offers lots of corners where you can enjoy reading a book, drinking fresh tea or watching the stars. It’s very spacious and you only share it with a few other people. The food is the best we had in Morocco and no need to go elsewhere if you can stay in and enjoy three courses every night. The interior is to dream of and the garden is magnificent. Can’t wait to be back!

A little heaven on earth!

We had a fabulous time with our family staying at Dar Zahia over new year. The Riad is immaculate and the hospitality and catering excellent. Communication in advance was prompt and thorough and every effort made to meet our requirements of our two families with young children. A real gem to be revisited.

New Tear at Dar Zahia

I can't rave enough about our experience at Dar Zahia. Totally unexpected, as the B & B is a hidden gem at the end of a quiet road in busting Taroudant. Zahia is an extraordinary host. I was sick when I arrived, and she doted on me with care and attention. Immediately settling into a charming room with windows overlooking a lush, green garden, she set me up with medicine and a hot water bottle and checked on me occasionally to make sure I didn't need anything. The following day she sent us off with some unique suggestions on places to visit and then prepared a lovely dinner at a communal table in the courtyard. The house is itself was a haven of sophistication and peace, but with interesting a discreet fellow travellers, comfortable shared spaces and wonderful attention to detail I would whole heartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for something out of the usual in fascinating Taroudant.

Amazing stay in a sophisticated place with a  homey touch

wow, just perfect.very warm welcome with tea. beautiful rooms, a lot of chill out areas. but the best was that we had the feeling to be in a indepentent self guidid holiday but dar zahia made it much more relaxed. if you want a bicycle - no problem ,they will arrange it. if you want to visit beautiful claudio bravo museum - no problem, they arrange taxi and entrance to museum. very easy and relaxed arrival via agadir airport by the booked taxi driver. another nice extra: if you want you can eat dinner in the beautiful house or in the amazing garden, very tasty! thanks a lot, we had a great time and will return. martin&einar
