A group of long-time friends (couple and solo woman) stayed at the Hotel Essalam in mid-April 2018.  We stayed one night before taking the spectacular gravel road from Tamtetoucht to Msemrir.  It is a basic hotel with basic rooms and with beautiful views out over the countryside.  We like being able to walk down before dinner to see how the women controlled the irrigation for the fields.  Eat your breakfast outside on the terrace if you can.  It has a view over a small but charming garden.  It was not busy when we were there lending the place a slightly forlorn air.  It is close to the climbing area in the Todra Gorges so in climbing season it might be busier and more lively.

Th owener is a great and very polite person and a faboulos chef!

Great hotel to be

The hotel is located past the Gorges (about 20 km) in the middle of nowhere. The rooms are extremely poor. The pool is not used, and will not be used by anyone sensible. When we were there, we were the only guest. They have no bar. The staff was friendly enough, but then there was nothing to do for them. Food was okay.

Very little is good about this place

Tamtatouchte isn't very large and we weren't expecting as nice a hotel as Kasbah Essalam turned out to be.  Everything was immaculate, the rooms nicely appointed without being opulent and the staff outstanding.  Indeed, if there is one thing to say about Moroccans in general, it is that they are very polite, very welcoming and always helpful.

Our room included Half-Board, which means that dinner and breakfast were included, and the chicken tajine we  were served, along with Moroccan salad, fruit desert and tea was excellent.

It was too early in the season to use the pool, but the pool and the grounds were very well maintained and looked wonderful.

A great place to stay.

this hotel is very clean,
has big terraces to enjoy the sun,
secured parking,
wireless internet, etc
but the most important is the staff.
there are warm and welcoming, without being pushy.
even the owner comes to talk with you.
We really enjoyed our short stay.
