Sundown Guesthouse is the only place I'll stay in Maputo! They never disappoint! Denis and his staff goes to great lengths to make your stay as warm and friendly as can be. They start to feel like family! 
Everything you need in Maputo... Quiet, clean, excellent service and excellent pricing. The food is divine and even on a strict diet they went all out to please and assist.
Well done guys! 
You'll definitely see me (and my family) again and again!

Convenient hotel. Rooms were well kitted out. Nice central location. Helpful staff. Breakfast was also good. I would suggest arriving before dark as the area is not the best and I would park my car behind the hotel gates 

Does the job..

I stayed at Sundown several times over three weeks of traveling around Mozambique. Denis, the manager, and his team are wonderful and were flexible and accommodating, making life really easy, when my plans changed. They really looked after me.

All three rooms I stayed in were immaculately clean and had great water pressure in the shower (not always the case in Maputo).  Air con was great and mosquito nets effective. Beds are super comfy and the the decor is modern and inviting.

Really reasonable laundry costs (I paid three times as much somewhere else).  The room rates are great as well.

Great selection of breakfast options, including cooked breakfasts, waffles, muesli, omelettes.

I will definitely stay here again when I return, hopefully later this year.

Our first time at this modest guest house not far off Kenneth Kaunda and a short drive away from the airport, but it’s not likely to be our last. Compared with other lodging in the same price range, Sundown represents good value. Rooms are not huge, but ample for a short stay. There is a very good satellite tv service, a good work table, plenty of sockets (Mozambican and 3-pin South African), and a very good shower. In other words, all that is needed for a stopover or short stay on business. Service was friendly but also efficient (a speedy check out and payment even very early in the morning). We left a pair of reading glasses (we had no idea) and received a call from the owner later on the day of our departure – nothing exceptional perhaps, but an indicator of a good standard of customer care.

Well-run, good value lodging

I came in from the airport fairly late, so it was a pleasant surprise that the drive over was so short. The room was spacious and clean, quite nice, but unfortunately there was no hot water. Staff were helpful, it's in a quiet area, can't really ask for more!

Quick stop-over, very convenient

This is a good B&B to stay, in a good location at Sommershield, the rooms are spacious with minibar, good bathroom, space to preoare coffee with a French press and a small sofa.
It is walking distance to the beach and other tourist places.
Breakfast is continental and good. Internet available as well. 10 min drive from the airport.

Good place and location

If you are looking for accommodation in Maputo look no further than Sundown Guest House in sommershield Maputo.  From owner Dennis to all the staff you are so well looked after.  The rooms are of an exceptional standard well equipped and so clean.  Food of a high standard too.  An all round little gem.

First class accommodation

Stayed 1 night as part of 6 member team. Rooms were not bad. Food was not good. Breakfast is included but you are limited to a preset menu with small portions.
There was no water in this guesthouse on the day I arrived so bathing/showering was an issue. Water was restored the following morning when staff came to switch the pump back on.The aircon for one of our colleagues was not working. She was told it would be fixed on arrival and 2 days later it still was not fixed.
We decided to check out as we were not happy about the water issue. We notified the hotel that we would be checking out and requested that our bills be prepared. When we came to pay, the owner said we should pay for the full duration of our booking even though we were leaving. An argument followed and the owner then told us he does not want our money and we should immediately vacate our rooms.
This type of behaviour was uncalled for and was a shining example of good business acumen. We did leave at about 1900hrs.
Positive note WiFi worked well for me although my colleagues noted that it was not good late at night.

I really did not enjoy my stay so I would not recommend this place to anyone.
