Me and my boyfriend stayed at White pearl for 3 nights the first night we arrived was late but we have already done the booking by Agoda but they couldn’t check cause of the internet but they just let us take a rest anyway. The room we stayed the first night was really private, kingsize bed and private bathroom the aircon didn’t work so well but staff is really helpful! We changed the room to the two beds and share bathroom. It was alright! Still have aircon and working so well. Also you can rent the bike per day around 9.000 kyat from the hotel. Just let the staff know you want it. They are helpful.

3 nights stayed at White Pearl

My partner and I transferred to this guesthouse after a horrible night in a place nearby. White Pearl seems to be the go-to place for budget travellers in Myeik - staff is very friendly, although only the duty manager could speak good English. WiFi a bit slow in the rooms, but good when sitting in the hallway. The guesthouse is in a quiet side street so there's no noise at night, and the seaside night market is only ten minutes away. So far, so good.

Breakfast is included but is - like in many budget accommodation in Myanmar - average at best; toast, fried egg, jam, butter/margarine and fried noodles if I remember correctly. Our room was a twin bed with fan; very hot but you get what you pay for, as the White Pearl seems to be cheaper than other guesthouses in the same suburb. One thing to note - we stayed in a room whose windows face a corridor extension of the hallway, leading to a cleaning cabinet for staff (second floor I believe). On other floors these corridors are dead ends but on our floor, staff will use it in the morning to get equipment in and out, meaning you cannot open your curtains nor your windows if you want to avoid early morning noise and having no privacy. Might not be an issue for early risers but was for us. What else... Communal showers are basic but sufficient. 

All in all decent enough, given this is a guesthouse in a little-visited part of a country that was off-limits to most less than a decade ago.

PS To all those moaning about price - Myanmar still retains government-mandated foreigner pricing which accommodation wanting to take foreign travellers has to comply with. In a few years the situation hopefully improves, and in the meantime there's dirt-cheap food and transport!

Decent enough for a few nights

Friendly staff, good location, and ok breakfast. I rated 3 because I couldn't sleep due to being itchy all night. I was sitting in bed working most of the day and was fine but when I slept, I was very itchy. It was NOT bed bugs, it could have been the blanket.

First of all the staff is quite nice and tries to be helpful although there English is not very good so it’s hard to communicate. 
My room was very basic, no air conditioning only a fan. No window which resulted in a lot of mosquitos in the room. I preferred to use my sleeping bag not sure about the bed. The shared bathrooms not even had a western toilet (all other hotels and hotels in Myanmar had) the breakfast was ok but not more. No WiFi in my room so I had to go outside to go online.
I don’t know how to describe the overall atmosphere. It did not feel like a guesthouse more like a communist functional building (sorry for the comparison, but coming from east Germany this comparison just came to my mind)

Worst hotel of my trip so far

We booked the budget room on booking.com. As we arrived they told us, that the budget room is with shared bathroom (no sitting toilets) and the fotos on booking are the wrong ones. They said the room we booked was the deluxe one which is 12000kyatt more expensive than the one on our booking. We had the choice to pay the price on our booking and get a worse room (worse beds, no ac, shared bathroom) or to pay more to get the room we booked. We stayed as we knew that there where no cheaper options and other hotels where booked out. This was the last hotel on our 7 weeks myanmar trip and it was the worst. Lots of moskitos in our room, no good breakfast, but actually the worse was that they sell something that is not true. Be prepared to have a plan b.
The good thing was that they rent scooters. 

Info on Booking incorrect

First of all, you have a breakfoast included, but the owner of the place does not tell you. So I "missed" it the first day. The second day I had it, but I realised that it is so bad that I did not miss it at all. Second, the room look like a jail, it is smelly, hot and no window with mosquito net. No hot shower for the price of what you pay for a room there is expensive. You have too options let the window open to breath but you get the mosquitos and no privacy, or you close the window and you suffocate with the smell and the heat ! The wi fi is also very bad. I dont recommend this hotel. the only good point is that the staff is good and friendly, but not a lot of them are speaking English.

Expensive for what it is.

Made a booking to stay with a Myanmar friend. When we got to the hotel, they said that we need to extra because I am a foreigner, and both of us should be charged as foreigners. The conversation took place between my Myanmar friend and the receptionist, and the receptionist seem to be to be very rude and aggressive in his behaviour. We decided to walk away and look for another place. I asked my friend afterwards what they discussed, and she confirmed that the man at the reception was rude and pushy, saying that we will not find a similar price in Myeik. We were happy to walk away and find something provided mg better value for money.
