Situated in the sand hills on the edge of the Kalahari the location of the lodge is perfect. The individual chalets are spaced across the sand around the reception and dining lodge. The lodge overlooks a small waterhole and feeding station for animals and there are generally some about.

Game drives are available and quite good but the number and variety of animals is limited as you would expect in the desert.

Meals are provided and are excellent with an option for game at dinner.

Staff are excellent, welcoming and efficient.

The thatched rooms are spacious and very quiet complete with air conditioning and the beds are comfortable.

Great lodge great location

Comfortable and well-organised accomodation with helpful friendly staff. Rooms near the water hole are best as lots of wildlife there including giraffes very close. Sun downer drive was great and we also found the walk with San people very interesting. Kalahari area is stunning and was the perfect first destination on leaving Windhoek. The outdoor dining area is very atmospheric at night and the buffet meal very good with the best vegetarian selection  we had in our three week trip.

Wonderful desert lodge - don't miss the sundowner drive

Very quiet and laid back getaway with most beautiful sunset atmosphere. One has the freedom to walk around the farm. Rooms a bit small and dark but nice veranda from which one can observe the closeby waterhole. 

Most stunning landscape

Stayed here for two nights as part of a three week road trip. The rooms are lovely, with just the right balance between rustic and luxury, though the A/C was quite noisy. The dining area / bar is well laid out, with some nice tables to sit and watch the sun go down and a pleasant swimming pool.  Staff were friendly and welcoming and service was excellent.
Breakfast and afternoon tea are served on an upper terrace with lovely views over the surrounding desert.  Dinner is served around a firepit / BBQ area and the main course was buffet style. Although the food was generally good, some of the meat was a bit tough.
We went on the bushman walk (which was highly entertaining) and the afternoon local game drive which was a gentle introduction to the wildlife of Namibia. We also walked around the area ourselves, taking advice from the very knowledgeable local management.
Overall a very pleasant experience.

Pleasant rustic lodge in stunning surroundings

We spent two days at this wonderful location. 
It has the benefit of being a relatively small lodge, so we really felt we received a personal experience, with the staff  greeting us as we arrived and always ready to help us. 
The rooms were clean, comfortable and with a shaded veranda to sit outside and watch the wildlife. 
Our room had a view of the local water hole and we were treated to a variety of wildlife wandering past our room, including a brace of giraffes.
Dinner was in the open air around a camp fire. Our only complaint was the meat, pre barbecued, which could be mediocre, but the other food at the buffet was generally excellent. 
There are plenty of tours and you can (as we did) go for walks on your own. 

Watching the wildlife from your shaded veranda 

We arrived in thé afternoon and where welcomed by Seth, in English and Afrikaans which was fun for us, as we speak Dutch. We got an icecold applejuice as welcome drink which was much appriciated in this dry and hot environment. Thé rooms are separate small houses around thé reception/bar/restaurant and are clean with a nice rainshower and stocked mini-bar. You can hike around thé lodge or book a game drive or morning bushwalk. For dinner you sit around a campfire (Boma) and get treathed with delicious good in a very cousy atmosphere

One night in thé Kalahri Desert

Very nice Lodge. In the middle of nowhere, surrounded by animals. Staff is super nice and the service really great. Dinner is served at a fire place and very good. The lodge has everything you need and is super sweet. Beds are comfy and the surrounding is great for a walk.
Totally recommended.

Super nice African Lodge

We absolutely loved our stay at Camelthorn Kalahari Lodge! Seth welcomed us both in English and Afrikaans and immediately gave us all the information we needed. We really felt welcome in the middle of the beautiful Kalahari desert!
The property doesn't have any paved paths, so we kindly accepted one of the employees carrying our suitcase to our chalet. The room was spacious and cosy, with a neat ensuite bathroom. Mind, since it was winter in the middle of the desert, the room gets quite chilly in the evening. The lodge however took care of it by placing hot water bags in our bed to preheat, a lovely touch!
We did both the sundowner drive with Ivan and the bushmen walk with Bertus, both are really recommended and worth the price!
Do take a warm sweater and scarf with you, as both dinner and breakfast are served outside. The firepit makes it cosy and not as freezing as it could be, but you do need some warm clothes. 

Extremely friendly staff in a mesmerizing environment

Since the entrance from the main gate the experience ha been great: you drive 10min in a beautiful reserve to reach the lodge. We receive a warm welcome from the staff and did our check-in quickly. The room is a full bungalow, immerse in the nature. The room is big, clean with a great bed: best sleep in Namibia. The dinner was good and prepared under the stars with a fireplace in the middle of the yard. Very nice pool to chill. Good breakfast.  For some problem at the airport we didn't make it on time to enjoy the game drive in the evening but looking at the reserve it should be nice.

Great relaxing time

We stayed here as a transition heading up the country and loved it. We did an afternoon game drive and a morning bush walk. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our guides on the activities knew their stuff. 

Supper was a delicious BBQ with lots of choices. There was tea and coffee available as you wanted.
