Perfectly acceptable accommodations in Swakop. I would especially recommend it for families as they have a 3 bedroom option. We had breakfast only 1 of the days and it was pretty good, very friendly service. Only downsides are that the soundproofing is non-existent and the breakfast did not open on time one morning making for a hungry bunch before our tour. For couples, I'd probably recommend elsewhere, for families I'd certainly consider it.

Good family option 

My husband and I stayed here twice with two different groups in April and May. 
We had had to cancel our visit twice because of covid and the staff were always helpful. Everyone was more than helpful. Our apartments were very clean and comfortable. The English breakfast was cooked on arrival and therefore tasted delicious. The reception staff were so kind and gave us good restaurant tipps. Great unexpected stay at Desert Sands coming from SA on our way through back to UAE. It was very comfortable, clean and nice size for just two people. Staff were wonderful and helpful.  It is in close proximity to great restaurants like The Tug and Audstadt which we highly recommend.

Great Unexpected Stay

This hotel is a hidden gem in plain sight. Although it boasts very modern finishings and a great location, the winning ingredient is the combination of Wilco, Mildred and their team. They assisted with the storage our extra food for our long stay. They also met our dietary requirements with a superb breakfast on our last day. We learned more about the Namibian culture and its people. My boys loved the daily rental of the PS4 (video games) on the rainy days. My daughter and I enjoyed hiring the bicycles and exploring the town and beach (even in the rain). I will definitely return!

WONDERFUL STAY

Quick breakaway to escape the heat of the inland towns. Check-in was quick and easy, with clean, neat and spacious rooms. Google powered techno gadgets in the room, with good WiFi coverage. All the utensils in the kitchen for self catering, as well as reasonably priced mini bar. Close to the shopping and restaurants in the town center. The team were always friendly and ready to assist.

Swakopmund Breakaway

I vacationed in Swakopmund for my End of year travel with a friend. We stayed at Desert sands and we were welcomed by their amazing staff :) Everyone was friendly and very welcoming. Shoutout to Natasha who handled our booking and attending to my never ending questions with so much professionalism. 

We were meant to check in at 2 but arrived earlier and were accommodated with no hassles. The rooms are spacious and fully furnished. 

The establishment has a beautiful breakfast dinning area with city views and breeze. We really enjoyed the breakfast! The food was freshly prepared and served. Keep up the good work guys! 

Also, liked how the owner is so involved in the day to day operations to ensure guests are comfortable. 

Will definitely recommend! Affordable, safe and value for money. Oh! Desert sands is central to restaurants, activities, beach and all other amenities. Now that’s a plus! :-)

Amazing Stay 

We enjoy this little place, very central walking distance from center town and beach.
Good internet, spacious rooms and friendly service.
good breakfast, safe parking 
You have to climb stairs to get to your room so choose wisely.



Lovely central place

Awesome place to stay. Indoor parking, large rooms, free unlimited wifi, dstv, etc. The rooms are really nice with a kitchen, lounge and balcony. The bfast could be better and the brochure boasts of Netflix in every room which is not the case.

Great place in town

Our 2 night stay at Desert Sands was very very pleasant. After 2 weeks camping it felt like an oasis with very friendly and helpful staff, good facilities like free parking (max. 2,20m high!), laundry service and fast wifi. The breakfast is great and you feel very welcome. The only thing that keep us from giving 5 stars is that the rooms are not so well isolated and noise CAN be heard from other guests.
We would definitely go there again!

Very very pleasant stay at walking distance from the town centre

We drove to Swakopmund through mountains desert and sandstorms.  It was cold in Swakopmund but the B&B had the ability to turn heat on which made things much better.  It was very nice to have a fridge and to have a couch where our group could get together for snacks and drinks before dinner.  The biggest problem is that the parking lot is totally for small cars and our Land Cruiser barely fit.  In fact we had to shut the side mirrors in order to get both in the lot and out and into the parking spaces was an act of God.  The new owners talked to us at breakfast and were also very pleasant.  This is not a special lodge but it is convenient, in the city, and all the amenities were nice.  We did need to get to a medical center that we had previously contacted, and the receptionist gave us directions to the wrong one.  Would be nice for them to have a map of the city on hand.
