The homestay was recommended to me. I had a very nice stay at Govinda’s homestay during a celebration week of the Bönpo Triten Norbutse Monestery, which is 7 minutes by walk near by.
I highly recommend the homestay; the place is very quiet and peaceful, without the strong air pollution as KTM central, although near to Thamel. Rooms are very clean, rooftop with nice views. 
I had very tasty breakfast and dinner. Govinda helped me to manage a rebooking of a flight,  what I would had never been able to do by myself! The family is very friendly and helpful.

Outstanding homestay in Kathmandu

We enjoyed our stay at Govindas Homestay very much. It is well located in a quiet place close to the Triten Nobuste Monastery. Thamel is about 15 min. away. The Homestay is very clean and the rooms have more than enough space. Govindas wife is a very good Cook! Very delicious food. Govinda himself is very hospitable and helpful - a perfect host! Also the Communication with him was absolut perfect and easy. We recommend this place without any doubt.

Best Host ever!

My trip to Nepal this year was even better than several earlier trips with Govinda and his company.   
This is my 81 years, when I arrived at Kathmandu Airport, I was welcomed as always at the Airport, and greeted with friendship and respect. 
I stay at “Homestay in Katmandu” which is Govinda’s home.   He and his entire family welcome me and treat me as a member of the Family, -with kindness generosity and respect.   I enjoy the beautiful home cooked meals, of my favourite  porridge, banana fritters, and apple fritters with honey, and many other fresh and delicious
Nepali treats.
I took some days to see around Kathmandu then Pokhara as well Gorkha and Bandipur, Nagarkot and surrounding areas, -always organised by Govinda, and very capably escorted by Manoj Lamichhane !
I am very happy that I was in Nepal with these friends who cared for me so well !
It is like my second home after Australia where I live ! 
I am confident that everyone travelling to Kathmandu and other parts of Nepal will be equally happy with “HOMESTAY IN KATHMANDU” .
After Gorkha I had 1 night in Bandipur city, which has  old beautiful woodwork in the buildings, -just like Katmandu before the Earthquake destruction. 
Then I had several nights in the beautiful lakeside City of Pokhara, and a very pleasant stay in Nagerkot, which is one of the best places to see the MAGNIFICENT Himalayas. 
Always I was very capably escorted by Manoj Lamichhane.

“YOUR HOME IN KATHMANDU “ !!!!

I stayed at Alobar hostel for 2 nights before I went trekking. After I came back, I didn’t want to stay there anymore, I wanted to have a private room with a clean toilet so I can have a hot shower after 16 days. I found Kathmandu homestay and just took a cab directly here without making any bookings. Rachana and her kids welcome me and she made me breakfast. She even did my laundry. At lunch, when I got hungry, she asked her daughter to take me to the nearest cafe. In the afternoon, she asked both of her kids take me to the red gumba(monastery). Whenever I came out on the terrace, she would accompany me and pointed to me all the places in the neighborhood which I can visit. I was invited to her niece’s birthday where I learned about the Nepali culture. We took this mini bus which is a 12 seated van, but they cramped about 40 people in. Such an experience. Her husband runs Alpine adventure club treks & expedition and he arranged the tour to Bhutan for me. Quite convenient since we stayed at the same place so he can give me the permit and visa at home. I also got a good deal on the room after I booked the tour with him. Very decent guy. I would definitely stay here when I go back to Nepal. Just keep in mind: if you are looking for some night life, you better stay in Thamel. This place is 45 minutes to 1 hour walk to Thamel. Also, since this is a homestay, you might have to follow the owner’s agenda. Rachana knocked on my door one day at 9am and I was sleeping in, she just wanted to let me know she will be going shopping so she will make breakfast for me now. The sweetest lady on earth, but if you are planning to sleep in, it’s hard with the kids knocking on your door at 8am asking if you want breakfast now or later. Also, when we came back from the birthday, 2 other guests were locked inside the house and luckily, they bought grocery and were cooking. 

I had the best stay in Kathmandu 

The room was  modern  and clean...Hotel staff was helpful and friendly..Most of wifi is preety basic which makes me comfortable..I like the ambiance and location of the hotel.it was really nice place which exceed my expectation..

Great and exceeded my expectation

The staying in the Homestay was very pleasant and enjoyable for me. I liked the location very much. The service people everywhere were very nice and polite.
This is a great budget place that i actually preferred..

Pleasant trip

If you do not like to stay in noisy Thamel, Kathmandu Homestay is a great option.
Very quiet and comfortable accomodation in the nice family house near to forest. You feel like part of the family. We were absolutely satisfied.

I do recommanded Homestay fo anybody who visit kathmandu ..I stayed with a great family myself and they were so nice. I felt home while I m here. Thanks for the great experience..nd making me aware of culture of Nepal ..

Felt like home at home stay 

I had the pleasure of staying with Govinda and his family just over a year ago. This followed a 4 week trek I did with his trekking company Adventure Pilgrims Trekking. 
His home is away from the noise and bustle of the busy part of Kathmandu but access to the centre is easy.  The family accommodation is very comfortable and clean. The home cooked meals were a treat and at all times I felt welcome. 
For our trek we had a guide and porter who were a pleasure to be with. At all times we felt we were in good hands and they were fun to be with too. 
Govinda is a great resource no matter what you may plan to do. 
My daughter plans to visit Nepal in December and I have recommended Govinda's hospitality to her.

Attentive hosts and tasty home-cooked meals. Basic amenities. Self-service hand laundry on top floor. Private and shared bathrooms. Affordable rates. Hosts were happy to provide information about the city, and show travelers around. Safe location near the foothills of Kathmandu. Great for a budget traveler stopping through town.
