Stayed here for almost 3 months. Perfect place with kitchen and a rooftop with great view over Kathmandu. 

It was great staying outside the tourist area, it is only around ten minutes to Thamel. 

Really enjoyed my stay here and hope to be back soon!

Great place in Ason

I stayed here for a month, as I wanted to move to a less expensive place than a hotel in Thamel.  I stayed on the 5th floor, and despite the noisy, busy market downstairs, it was relatively quiet (except for barking dogs, which are hard to get away from anywhere in KTM).  The room had an attached bathroom, and I was amazed to find that hot water was nearly always available.  It had an attached kitchen, and a small terrace.  It was nice to be in a "genuine" Nepali neighborhood, a place where tourists are in the minority.  The management, although offsite, was always responsive to phone calls.  The one problem I had was with the garage door entrance to the ground floor restaurant - at times when the restaurant was closed.  It was sometimes impossible to get it unlocked or opened either from inside or outside, so I had to somehow use a key for a ground-level lock - sometimes in the dark!  At times the key did not work, which is not pleasant late at night when you want to get in and go to sleep.  The management was quite concerned, and they plan to build a separate entrance for the apartment dwellers, which I hope solves the problem. All in all it was a very nice stay, and I recommend it for people who want to stay longer than just a few days in KTM.

Comfortable alternative to Thamel

Firstly I would like to thank KHHS to make my one month stay memorable and very comfortable. I will start with the location, which is what I think is one of the striking feature. Since this homestay is located in heart of kathmandu, I felt close to all the action, be it ease of transportaion or being surrounded in typical nepali architectural environment and typical market place. It was certainly great value for money. At the time, I was staying at KHHS, whole kathmandu used to have 15 to 18 hrs of black out(no power), in this situation too the management did a great job, they had solar system for both electricity and water. There were one or two times when technical glitch occured, but it didnt bothered me much because I was taken good care by mgmt at those moments too and  I fully understand since the whole city went black out for 15-18 hours in a day(24 hrs). I would like to thank the mgmt, specially the manager who was ready and willing to help anytime we needed. I have seen how helpful and friendly he and his staff were to others as well. More to that, I felt very safe to stay in Kantipur Heritage Home Stay. I will definitely stay at KHHS next time I visit Nepal and would recommend everybody to stay here. I had a great experience.

Excellent place to stay!!!

This is a good looking hotel well kept fron outside but it has some cons.  First of allt has no AC this is a serious problem for me thetoilets are on the bad side for sure and it has none amenities in the room no fridge no tv just the room. For the price I paid you can find much betteroption 25 meters arround. The staff is very nice and the breakfast is quite good. We needed a late check out and they provided us with another room to stay and have a shower. The room was very bad no windows and very hot no even a fan for us. We got to stay one hour more and then we decided to leave. For me this hotel is nice to take a picture but not to stay even less if you are paying 60$ for a standard room with breakfast. 

Beautifull but...

We have stayed 4 months in this place, having some ups and downs, but overall a okay time. We started on the 2nd floor, the room is spacious and clean, this floor does not have a balcony. The kitchen is really small, not big enough to stand with 2 persons.It's really noisy from the downstairs restaurant,  with yelling people until 10 of 11 in the evening.
Later we moved to the 5th floor, which has a balcony and a huge kitchen, the bedroom is the same.
It's not a homestay, this name is misleading. It's a apartmentbuilding.

During rainshowers water came pooring down in the bathroom, but didn't cause any problems, there is 24hr hot water. Unfortunately the fridge doesn't work 24hr, only during powertime. Power supply in the bedroom is good during powercut.
The owner is a helpfull, friendly man, but will hang around a lot and does not seem to be honest all the time. To get some more privacy we hanged a cloth on the outside fence.
The internet isn't functioning well, we complaind about it several times, but the owner didn't do much. 2 weeks before we left he said he'd change provider, but in these 2 weeks nothing was done.

Safety is really good. Between 2nd and 3rd floor is a fence which you can open either with a card or a code and almost all the apartments have a private fence which you can lock with your own lock. Location near Thamel and busstation is good. Slightly overpriced though.
