We stayed in the Apartment for 3 night arriving on Fri 2nd June and were checked in in minutes by the very efficient staff.
The apartment is very high spec, very well equipped, very clean and well thought out. The WiFi is strong and more than fast enough. 

The location is PERFECT in Alkmaar being less than 2 minutes walk from the main square and inside the pedestrian only zone.

It is walking distance the mainline Station and the local bus depot (we took the local bus to the seaside at Egmond aan Zee on Sunday, only €2.90 and less than half an hour ride)

All in all a WONDERFUL experience,  I'd go as far as to say faultless!! Well done guys!!!

Great location, great staff... An absolute joy +++

Excellent reception by owner who guided us through the busy streets of Alkmaar to the hotel parking on King’s day.
Very pleasant and helpful husband-wife team running the operation. Clean, spacious and updated accommodations. Great location in the center of old Alkmaar. The staircases could be a problem for those with disabilities or for those who have indulged too much in the local brew, otherwise it is not an issue. Would definitely go back.

Great experience in a beautiful city

We stayed in Familie hotel for a month and it was our most horrible stay! Housekeeping was only once a week and quite poor but they do expect you to clean rooms very tidy! The owner sent me letters (see attachment) and sms with complaints about 'not clean' apartment. In the middle of the day I could get a message: "When you will be back? I need to talk to you about the situation in your apartment". I believe it's very unethical and unprofessional to make any comments of this nature while we are staying in the hotel. After two weeks we started receiving threats of charging us extra fees for 'damage to the walls.' They said the walls were dirty and flour was sticky. All these accusations were false. In order to prove it one of our agents came to inspect the rooms along with the owners in our last day. The hotel owners checked every corner (walls, furniture, beds, mattresses, etc.) and concluded there weren't any damage and everything was good. Obviously, the owner intended to make extra money by submitting baseless claims. Furthermore, unlike what the name Familie hotel suggests this place is not a family place at all. On several occasions, men would ring our bell by mistake stating that they had an appointment with a girl named ... only to realize that they entered the unit next door for some illegitimate business. We regretted that we didn't call to the police that night!
By the way, we stayed there for so long because they never refund back. Our agent made a mistake buy paying for a whole month in advance. This hotel doesn't meet hotel standards!

Angry owners

I visited Alkmaar for a weekend trip, the hotel owners were very welcoming and were very patient after a flight delay, they were also at hand to help no matter what the problem (my flight home was cancelled and the owners helped me by offering to extend my checkout time and even to print my boarding pass) the room was slightly dated but was very clean and I had my own roof terrace which I asked for in advance. The facilities in the hotel are open to all guests (tea, coffee, cooker, washing machine etc.)
I will definitely be booking again and would recommend this hotel to anyone 

Very welcoming, excellent location 

Just come back from Alkmaar. We stayed in Familie Hotel for 3 nights so we could get to the Liquidity festival. Bob the owner was very welcoming, friendly and approachable. The apartment we had slept four and was perfect. Very spacious with bedroom areas, seating area, shower room and kitchen sink. Reminded me of Ikea. There was also a massive shared seating area and kitchen area with fridge freezer, sink, cutlery, glasses, plates and everything else that you would need. The hotel is in the centre of alkmaar town with a variety of shops, bars and eating areas. Would stay there again. Recommended

Very happy stay

Good location, blandly new place, just like an IKEA catalogue :)
Possibility for parking (for an extra fee). The rooms are nice, big and clean. However we had a fight with the heating system. Even stopped, it was still running. So we suffered a bit during the night. But i do not think that is the case during summer ;)
Breakfast is good and healty. Mostly designed for not-meet-eaters. 

Nice staying with friends

Where to start? First, there is no sense going to the Pay Glop address to check in, it is just a door to the street. The alternate location on Boterstraat is a shop that is open regular business hours only. While we didn't ask, we had no way to contact management outside of those hours so be careful about check-in and check-out. We were able to get a parking spot through them in a nearby basement garage (3 or 4) blocks which was pretty handy, but a little difficult to get out of. ( steep grade and narrow street at the top of the ramp) The streets are closed to car traffic around the apartment, so plan to carry bags a few blocks from nearest public parking when you get there and leave. 

We had a flat up two flights of moderately steep steel exterior stairs with a shared common area with a full kitchen and dining area. Our flat was nicely appointed with a couch, large table two sets of two single beds in two big rooms, but the bathroom and shower were off the common room. I believe that the other flat which shared the common room had bathroom and shower facilities in their area, but I'm not sure of that. Also there are other rooms associated with this facility occupying other adjoining buildings which appear to be somehow connected internally. 

We were there on Good Friday so there may have been more than usual, but we could hear a lot of carillon and bells from multiple places throughout much of the night. 

The wife appears to handle the cleaning and she seems very nice. The husband runs the shop and checks people in and out but was not as friendly as he could have been, but we were a little early to check in and there was a little issue with the parking so maybe that explains the response.

All-in-all, interesting, clean and spacious with idiosyncrasies.


Familie Hotel is interesting!

We are staying here still as I write, I have been traveling to Alkmaar for the last 25 years. It is a wonderful city. So clean and the people of Alkmaar are so friendly. This hotel is the perfect place to stay to explore! It is between the Laat and Langestraat two of the long streets that run the length of the city centre. They are intercepted by small streets that are also packed full with shops and cafes/bars. The accommodation is spotless and extremely well equipped. Home from Home has its true meaning here. Our hosts are lovely people and very friendly. I can say with certainty that I will spend many years to come in this fabulous hotel
