We were here early last year, and didn't have a very nice experience, mainly because of the C.restrictions :-(
This time things were quite a bit better, because of the summer, the place was quite busy, the room was fine, bed comfortable, other furniture a bit worse for wear but otherwise OK. Everything was clean, shower was good, but walls very thin and there was a lot of noise from the corridor. The breakfast and dinner buffets were quite extensive and good, but nothing really very special. The staff serving inside and on the terrace were brilliant. The hotel sits in a very nice area for walking and cycling, or touring around. So this time a much nicer experience :-)

A lot better

We stayed here for 3 nights in July. The room was simple but spacious and the beds were good. It was however a bit warm in the room. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent. Sometimes it was however a bit too crowdy in the restaurant. The estate is very nice and is situated in a natural environment with many possibilities for walking and cycling. The service was very good. Very good value for money.

Spacious rooms and very good food

Well what can i say, arriving from the UK straight into 10 day isolation, no delivery of meals as promised when booking had to collect breakfast which in itself was a task, How big do arrows have to be before Dutch people can actually see them????? wondering backwards and forwards, basically doing what they want and they wonder now why the infection rate is sky high, still allowing people coming from the most infected areas of Holland to a low risk area was still baffling.
The noise at weekends was unbelievable young girls running up and down the corridor till two in the morning screaming and giggling, obviously no security, i was there to work but got very little rest or sleep during weekends, nobody interested when complaining and the Dutch could not care less attitude was annoying to say the least.
My pet hate most of all in hotels are the real 'ignorant' 'inconsiderate' if you want to call them people who find it necessary to slam doors as hard as they can to make sure they are shut, now i dont care about arguing with ignorant fools.
If you want peace and quiet THEN THIS IS NOT THE HOTEL FOR YOU, i could not wait to leave even though i had another month of work.

Terrible Noise and Very poor Covid-19 protection, You have been trip Advised

Usually they ask you if you enjoyed your stay when you check out. Here they didn’t bother and couldn't care less………because they had a good idea of the answer I wonder?
Sure, the bad weather wasn’t their fault and to be expected this time of year. 
But - with corona measures - agreeing a certain arrangement re.breakfast and not passing it on to the relevant person, so getting breakfast turns into a very unpleasant situation, is not very helpful. With the result we skipped b/f the next day. 
The fact that they’d arrange take-away meals was known to us; even so, hauling your meal on a tray through the rain and eating it luke warm at best, or more likely cold is not our idea of fun. A stay in a hotel should be relaxing and a bit of a treat, but I’m afraid there was no chance of that here. There were hardly any guests, absolutely no atmosphere , staff difficult to find or contact and only the guy in the restaurant, Melvin if I remember correctly, was pleasant and really friendly. The room was fairly comfortable, but there were no extra's like  f.i. coffee- and tea making facilities , which, under the circumstances, was the least they could have done. And the promised 'coffee-to-go' wasn't even offered :-)
The area is really very nice and we will want to return, but there's bound to be more welcoming places than this one.

First, only and last

The hotel is nice, the room spacious, comfy beds, nice bathroom. Staff is helpful and pleasant. The only minus is that you can hear quite clearly hear whoever is in the corridors. Breakfast is excellent

Winter in Ehzerwold

Lovely setting near a very lovely town in Holland. arrived late evening ,building was apparently an old hospital,  now  converted into a hotel. The meals were very good and the staff took great care in looking after us all .The bedrooms were in a block of buildings separate from the main building. Reminded me of a college office apartments

our first night on our way to Kiel ferry port

The main building of the hotel was built as a hospital a century ago, but converted 25 years ago to  hotel and congress center. The hotel grounds are extensive, with room for two large outbuildings, where the hotel rooms are, and a parking lot. The room that was assigned to us, was spacious and the cleanliness was OK on a superficial inspection. Add free, reasonable fast wi-fi and a breakfast buffet with plenty of choice; this would be a great stay in Hotel Ehzerwold, yes? But the devil is in the details as usual. Our arrival was a bit of a challenge. We arrived in the evening. The reception desk was not in service, so we had to go to the restaurant in search for a waiter to check us in. The waiter gave us some vague directions to find our way around in the grounds to get to the parking lot and the hotel buildings. TripAdvisor friends, it is so dark there in Almen in the evening, that we had a job on our hands to find our way. In daylight we noted that there were obvious road signs directing guests to the parking lot, but these signs weren't illuminated in the evening. Further about the room, the shower stall lacks a door, so taking a shower means inundation of the bath room floor. The small size of the shower stall precludes it to be called a walk-in shower. Furthermore, in the bathroom, the first signs of tiredness can be noticed. When I turned down my duvet, the cleanliness rating of the room was dented, because I found a hair in my bed. moreover, hotel Ehzerwold has joined in the practice to add an extra fee on top of the room price, called green fee or environmental fee. (Maybe to give the guest a feel-good moment). But adding a charge to the room (except the local tourist tax) is a breach of European rules. Every unavoidable cost except local tourist taxes must be included in the room price. I hope this practice will be stamped out soon. Summarizing, zooming in on de details of our stay, then a three point rating is the most I can do. Oh, yes, don't expect a fridge, a safe or tea and coffee making facilities. They are not in the room. You can earn a free cup of coffee by making up the bed yourself and doing another day with the towels. (Just hang a "no service required" sign on the doorknob). To end this review on a positive tone: At checking out a cup of coffee "to go" is offered free of charge.

The devil is in the details

Generally clean and tidy, but my room was definitely tired, and the lighting was ridiculously dim. With modern low energy bulbs, it is not necessary to have such low lighting and yet a powerful hot shower that costs much more to supply.

The breakfast was the worst I have ever had. There was a selection of three cereals, no muesli, very little fruit, no orange marmalade, nothing hot unless you were prepared to cook your own eggs and bacon and no porridge / scrambled eggs / fish etc.

I found the staff quite efficacious and generally not welcoming.

Impressive property and grand entrance, however I will not stay again

Location: nature +++, nice to stroll around after dinner. Fairly close to national park the Hoge Veluwe (45 min), Apeldoorn, Zutphen and Deventer.

Rooms: clean, pillows and martress not really comfortable but allright for 1 night I suppose

Dinner: buffet. Limited options but good taste! Price/quality great!

Breakfast: ok, you have to bake your own eggs on a stove that's way too low. People had to bend over quite a bit.

We were very young compared with the other guests, avarage age is around 70.



Ok for 1 night

The restaurant Buffett was very nice and service was good. 

Unfortunately the rooms let it down though. Very basic, no air conditioning, no kettle, no iron. You can hear every word other guests are saying in the corridor. 

There is no information in the room to guide you on how to contact reception, what time breakfast is served etc. 

It's all very odd as the main building is very nice but the accommodation buildings feel more like a youth hostel.
