Our room was nothing like advertised - do not believe the pictures, it was very dark and in my opinion outdated. Relatively clean. Great location. Nothing to write home about. Check in is a 5 minute walk away and no staff on site. 

Pictures are deceiving 

I was emailed about the cancellation of my holiday at the Flowermarket Hotel, and I am absolutely disgusted that I have only been told a few days prior to my arrival on the 25th April 2019! I BOOKED THIS HOLIDAY IN JUNE 2018!! This is absolutely outrageous. How could it have taken 10 MONTHS to tell me it has been overbooked (that they were aware of!?). I booked it so far in advance!! I am now spending more money to try and sort this out in such a short space of time. This was meant to be an anniversary present! On top of being told it was cancelled, the email did not even say the reason why. I found out when I contacted the customer service team from booking.com!!

It is disgusting that they have told me now and had all of that time to tell me that they overbooked. This has absolutely ruined so much for me. Thank you for ruining my holiday!!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING PLACE!! DO NOT BOOK HERE!! RUINED EVERYTHING!!

If it wasn’t for the great location this hotel would never survive. The sounds from the club next door and the other guest are so loud, we listened to thumping music till 3 in the morning. The walls are so thin it feels like the guests next door are litterally outside your door. the bathroom is cold As there is no heating on the floor and the shower took forever to get warm. The beds are two beds put together so during the night they divide in the middle so one of you end up sleeping in a crack. Would not recommend it to anyone.

Worst hotel ever

Booked this hotel for my daughter and friends through BOOKING.COM. on arrival at the hotel they were unable to get into the hotel despite my emailing them more than once with their time of arrival, which was about 11.00pm not to late in the day really. Instead had my 20 year old daughter in a manic panic because she couldn't check in to the hotel. I had to ring BOOKING.COM's London office and still no joy. Eventually they did get in. Hotel was average. When I made the reservation  the BOOKING.COM said we would get 10% refund when the booking had been paid for and they had stayed at the hotel, what a nightmare trying to get back £43.84. Have made a number of calls trying to sort out the refund and every call makes a different excuse. Every time I think they have it sorted but so far no luck.

Nightmare

We were in this hotel four nights. Maybe I start to say that the only one positiv of this situation was place in the middle of city. Now I will explain you why sleeping in Flower Market Hotel is not good idea:
1. If you need a sleep as every normal person forget about it in this place. Absolutely all nights long since Wednesday do Sunday all room vibrated and rumbled from heavy basses and music from some music club.
2. Our room on photos was very clean, tidy, undamaged and brand new. In reality room is dingy, dirty, extremly small(type „standard”....) and there are no wardrobe or consol, which are on the pictures from booking.com! I can’t unpack my suitcase. There are many disgusting stains of blood from mosquitos on the walls and ceiling.
3. Hair dryer is not working! It’s so inadmissible, because weather wasn’t good and I could not dry my hair, when outside was windy and rainy! 
4. In building is four floors. Stairs are so tiny and dangerous, that only person with cabin luggage will go up. 
5. Bed is very old and it’s cover by wird mattress bigger than bed size, so it’s very uncomfortable. My back was very hurt. 

SUMMARIZING - NO RECOMMEND

misunderstanding 

It was just next to a nightclub so was very loud even on a Monday night, steep stairs, no sign saying it was a hotel, no reception, filthy window which overlooked another bed in another room, underpowered fan, curtains didn't close all of the way, didn't patch holes on wall, wifi hanging from wires in hallway just outside of the room, toilet seat coming off, almost no toilet paper, we asked, and then no holder. Key was at a managing business about 2 "blocks" away. Good area but other real hotels in the same area. I didn't want an Air B without B. We wanted a hotel!

No disclosure, misrepresentation

The pictures look great, but the room you get is far from what you expect. From the beginning, the hallway has marks on the wall, the floor is dirty. After a rather complex process of getting access to the building arriving at night with a closed reception (which was explained in an email before hand) we headed up the very narrow and steep staircase - no elevator, so not suitable for anyone without a strong pair of legs. We opened the door to our room and the door pretty much hits into the bed. There is hardly enough room to walk around the bed. The sheets were clean, but there was a lot of dust and dirt on the floor - the cleaners must have done a very quick job. The view out of the back was terrible, a graffiti covered wall and AC units.

Now, the worst bit was the fact that it shares a wall with the Supperclub. This was not mentioned in the hotel description. Considering they have ear plugs on the reception desk, the owners/managers know that the noise is an issue. My partner and I spent 2 nights, one night the club was open until 2am, the next night it was open until midnight. Both nights the noise was unbearable... The bass and low frequencies could be felt in the bones and rib cage. I have been to my fair share of very loud nightclubs, but I have never felt like I am sleeping in one. The Flower Market Hotel is just like that. I mentioned my dissatisfaction to the manager on reception on the first morning and negotiated a discount (about 20%) As trying to find a decent hotel with a few hours notice would prove a headache during a get away with my lady, moving hotel wasn't and option. I would have preferred to see a mention of the night club in the hotel description / booking email. If I knew this, I wouldn't have paid good money for a tiny and poorly cleaned room next to a huge sound system! Transparency is vital in the competitive market of Amsterdam hotels.

An overwhelming let down - Next door to a night club

There’s no reception, some one from the nearby office may meet you to take you to your room. The stairs are very steep, access is very poor. The higher you climb the warmer it gets. I was unfortunate enough to be staying on the top floor. Bin was never changed, towels changed once. Stayed during a very mild time - no aircon. Requested a fan, staff said they would look and buy one - that never happened. If you stay in room 10 you might still benefit from the fan that I personally bought from an electrical shop down the road. No window in bathroom, very steamy. As if the stairs weren’t a struggle enough, there are often obstacles in the way on each floor, ikea bags full of used towels, fag butts in water bottles. Basically it’s in a good location the staff seem to try their best, but the hotel is pretty poor - I’d avoid at all costs  

Avoid - there’s much better in Amsterdam

I do not recommend this hotel to anybody, their service has been awful through the whole stay. The hotel was going through refurbishments... terrible conditions! We had builders all over the place, no reception open after 7pm ( bare in mind we had to walk to the next road anyways to see anyone). I think I should also say that we found out about works happening in the hotel about 1 month after we had booked it and when we emailed them we were ensured the works were going to be done by the middle of April, 2 weeks before our arrival. 
So, once we arrived one of the room still smelled of fresh paint, but rather than that they were fine. However on the 2nd morning there, we had a massive leak of water coming through the light in the bathroom... instead of having the guy apologising and offering a compensation as we couldn’t use the bathroom for the whole day, he started harassing us because my friend’s card details were not completed and he wanted to take the money ASAP. 
In addition, even if it is just a 2 stars hotel there are minimum things you expect from a hotel, like somebody coming and sorting out and cleaning the room and bathroom,we were there for 3 nights and nobody has come once.
The only reason why I am rating the hotel 2 instead of 1 is because the location was on point! Right in the middle of Amsterdam... perfect for the Friday when kings day festival was happening, the Saturday wen we went out for our Hen night and in general to have the chance of explore the city. 

Hen do stay over kings day weekend... terrible service

DOn't book if you want your whole trip ruined.  The suggestion they offered was not even in the city. Horrible people. avoid at all costs, the staff are unfriendly and the people on the phone were unhelpful
