I stayed at one of Kien Bed & Breakfast's studios for a total of five nights, and wouldn't hesitate to make another booking here again. It's really well located in a charming, safe, and quiet neighbourhood, and tourist attractions such as the Rijksmuseum are a stone's throw away (as well as a Metro station, too). 

Although we didn't go for the continental breakfast option, there were two major supermarkets not far away from which we could stock up on supplies, and lots of lovely restaurants - Buffet van Odette was a favourite. The studio itself was immaculately clean, and we appreciated having cooking facilities, a good assortment of crockerym and complimentary tea/coffee in the kitchenette. 

Martin was really communicative and helpful, especially when it came to checking us in. He and his team were always very good about asking whether we needed fresh towels, and whenever we did step out of the apartment, we would return to find it neatly and discreetly tidied up.

The only points for improvement that I might mention - and they are very minor ones - are that the WiFi could sometimes be a bit patchy, despite having several WiFi networks to choose from, and that we found the shower head a little awkwardly positioned to use in the bathtub (if you accidentally jostled it, for instance, you'd suddenly find that the temperature changed completely to freezing or boiling water!). But again, these are only minor points, and I would love to stay here the next time I'm in Amsterdam.

Well-located apartments that made exploring Amsterdam a joy

Martin operates this bed and breakfast at a great location in Amsterdam.  It is 3 blocks from the metro and tram as well as a number of restaurants and pubs.  All attractions are walkable or easily reached via the tram. We walked to dam square, the flower market, van gogh museum.  The city is very safe at night.
The BnB is nice; the room we had was a spacious studio with a sitting area, a king bed and kitchenette.  the bathroom was good.  The place was very clean.  We did not do breakfast here so i can not comment on it. 
 Martin is great host.  He takes time with his guests to share history of amsterdam and best way to get around.  His communication is great and timely. LIke all buildings in Amsterdam, there are some steep steps outside the entry; we are 68 and had a large suitcase and managed it. I highly recommend Martin's Kien Bed and Breakfast.

Great place to stay in Amsterdam

Communication prior to the visit was great. The instructions given to find the place made our first time visit to Amsterdam a breeze. Once there Martin and Joyce could not have been more helpful. The place itself is big and central. The little kitchenette is also a nice plus. I would have no hasitation in recommending this place and would definitely stay there on my next visit.

Amazing

Great clean and classy studio in quiet street but within easy walk of everything - well equipped and very spacious feel like you are a local living there - stylish. Nice table and chairs dishwasher fridge sink hob free proper coffee - will recommend to friends and use again self - much more relaxing than a hotel

Great clean and classy studio in quiet street but within easy walk of everything

I volunteered to find a place to stay for myself and a friend. We were splitting the cost so I felt responsible for finding a place that didn't break the bank. I spent hours searching possible accommodation options in Amsterdam and as others have pointed out, most are very small and expensive. Then I stumbled on Kien B&B and the WOW started there. A whole studio flat, in a brilliant location for a fraction of the cost of much smaller, bedroom only options. Ashamed that my immediate reaction was, "there's got to be something wrong with it", but reviews said otherwise. Those reviews were right on.

Martin is a WOW. From start to finish, he couldn't have been more helpful. The Kien is in a WOW location: easy to get to, on a quiet street (even with a major football game on the Wednesday evening), close to major attractions, surrounded by places to eat. The flat is a WOW: spacious, well equipped, immaculately clean and the beds are comfortable.

I still can't believe my luck in finding this wonderful place to stay.

An amazing welcome with a fun host. Would recommend highly. 
Gave us ideas and they all were cool. 
Will come back definitely as so relaxed and good style.
We are here on our 6 month anniversary and it made it wonderful. 

6 great Months

Amsterdam is a wonderful city,I used to live there, but it can be a terrible place for tourist accommodation. The room sizes (small), the service ( very Dutch), the expense ( expensive). Kien in an oasis amongst the canals. Martin is a wonderful host, the rooms are large, modern and clean and the location is in the perfect spot if you just  like wandering the streets aimlessly , soaking in all the the city has to offer.

Fresh and Easy. Better than the 5 star hotels.

Just got home from a wonderful 3 nights in Kien B&B. Martin was the perfect host, taking time out to go over the best attractions etc with us. Perfect location to everything. Will definitely be back. Thanks Martin!
