A friend and I stayed here while in Amsterdam, we enjoyed our stay here and the couple was very nice. They are happy enough to help you with any needs.  The boat and room was very clean and the beds were extremely comfy. 
The location was great just a 10/15 min walk from Central train station. The furthest we had to walk was around 30mins to the anne frank house. 
The breakfast was lovely and would definitely recommend the pancakes. 
A few things I would take note of before booking  - 
There is a small metal ramp to get on and off the boat.
There is no amenities in the rooms except for plug sockets,  and one towel each, but there is tea and water available 24/7 in the breakfast area. 
Don't expect a large buffet for breakfast but there is a small amount to have some choice. There is around 2 or 3 different types of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, a selection of bread and pastries and the host asks if you want any eggs or pancakes cooked, however the food is delicious. 
We stayed in a room with two single beds, the room and bathroom was slightly cramped but this did not cause a massive problem for us. 
We were allowed to keep our bags on the boat on the last day until it was time to leave which was extremely helpful. 
Overall I would recommend staying here! There was people there of various ages and a mixture of friends/families and couples. 

Lovely stay for the price. 

For something different try a cabin on the Gandalf. This barge plies the canals of Holland in the summer and serves as a hotel during the off-season, moored in Amsterdam’s harbour in easy walking distance to downtown’s attractions and the central rail station. The young host couple, Micaela and Carlos, are a delight, with ready advice and information if needed. The buffet breakfast is good, and Carlos will fry up some eggs if you wish. Prices are very reasonable by Amsterdam standards. Fair warning though that the cabins though adequate are small and many are split-level which entails climbing some stairs to get to the toilet. As such, they might be more suited to younger guests than senior citizens. A neat experience. 

Something different in a great location

We chose the hotel ship, because it’s close to the city and has a small size. It turned out to be perfect. 
Carlos and Michaela were the perfect hosts, the breakfast was very tasty and the views great. We walked 10 min to the central station, right at the water front. 
The rooms were small yet functional, but of course, that’s what you expect when you book a cabin on a boat :) 
We loved the possibility of the common room, so our son could sleep in our room and we could play cards and drink some beers. 
We’ll come again :)

Perfect for city trip

This hotel ship is brilliantly located some 15 minutes walk from Central Station, and many of important attractions. Science Museum Nemo is just next to it. 
The service here is excellent, it's run by an extremely nice couple who speaks really good English. You simply feel very well cared of.
Rooms are small, it's a ship after all, but warm and comfy. Shower provides warm water and it's pressure is good (not normal thing in so many places). Breakfast is basic, but good enough. Rooms, or cabins actually, are well sound proofed. Highly highly recommended for a budget traveller or for somebody seeking alternatives to too pricy, faceless chain hotels.

Amsterdam's alternative gem

Accommodation is expensive in Amsterdam. This basic accommodation does everything it says on the tin. Cheap basic cabins with ensuite facilities. Outstanding breakfasts, tea and coffee available all day and best of all situated right in the heart of the city by the science museum and the quieter old Jewish quarter. We were able to walk to all the main sites museums etc quickly and easily bypassing the 'seedier' areas. There are two good and one outstanding Restaurants within 7 minutes walk.
The proprietor and colleagues were friendly, very helpful and relaxed. If you want to pay for luxury this isn't for you but as a family we found it perfect! Will definitely return! During the time we visited (October half term) it was full every night families, couples and a few youths out to explore the delights of the city. Although situated in the oosterdock in the centre, it felt safe, secure and was quiet at night when we were there. 
One minor niggle was the lack of a room freshener in the ensuite shower which would have improved things!
Apart from that, would whole heartedly recommend.
