We only spent 10minutes inside, we got a room in the basement, all walls were covered with dirt, mold and spiderwebs. Two of four lights were also defect. By the way emergency exit leads to a locked metaldoor... 

Such a 'hotel' should be closed!!!

The booking was made by my friend and included 2 nights at Hotel Alfa in Amsterdam for 5 guests (
My friend was supposed to arrive by midnight, while the other guests at 2 PM.
When I arrived to the hotel accompanied with 2 other guests, WE were immediately refused. The girl at the reception was really mean, disrespectful and insisted that my friend that did the booking should be present in order to get the room (although the room was already entirely paid and ready). She didn’t give any other solution (Although I proposed my ID and credit card as a guarantee).
I tried to explain her that it was impossible since my friend is arriving only by midnight and we really need the room (37°c outside). She didn’t propose any solution to us, as clients. Only after long time I suggested that my friend would send an authorization directly to her so the other guests would be able to get the room. She accepted that and we were wondering why she didn’t propose it from the beginning and caused a very nervous and uncomfortable situation. This is not the way clients should be treated. She also said that I was poorly educated. This is not the way a client is treated
We are talking about a 1-star hostel that actually costs 300 euro/ a night, with common broken toilets and mice all over.
We passed a terrible stay over day, from the beginning till the end of our stay.

Awful dirty hotel with mean staff

We went to Amsterdam, to have a nice break as my wife and I could do with some quality time together, I recently suffered a stroke and this break was supposed to be part of my rehab, well we got to the hotel and i nearly had another stroke, dirty, dirty dirty, prices you change should mean that you can at least CLEAN the place, one word to sum hotel Alfa is DIRTY !!!

To be fair, this is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in to date

WHATEVER YOU DO, NEVER STAY HERE!!! This property is by far the worst accommodation I have encountered across a year of backpacking every weekend throughout Europe. There was the smell of mold throughout the room and bathroom as well as actual mold on the wall and bed sheets. Additionally, the paint on some of the wall was peeling while on other sections, graffiti was haphazardly painted over. Furthermore, the lamp and night stand were both broken and absolutely filthy. 

The owner is also extremely rude and repeatedly insulted and harassed me over email when I had messaged him about the room. This man runs a con on unwitting travelers. Do yourself a favor and please stay somewhere else. 

All around, the room and the property were so disgusting that I could not stay there and had to book a last minute stay elsewhere. I’ve dealt with seedy and dirty hostels in the past but this place literally looked like a run down crack house.

Where to start. In the room there was a broken desk and If you accidentally move it one leg went off. When we went into the room we found an old cigarette on the floor( it's a non smoking hotel, if you smoke you get a 200euros fine). Mattress and pillows were good. Very dirty floor, door and handle almost broken. The hallway on the way to the room also dirty it seems like they never sweep. At least they didn't for 4 days we were there cause the same cigarette was on the stairs during our stay. You can hear everything from outside I thought the window was already open cause it was like someone was in the room with us. But the window was never oper as it was broken too and couldn't open it.
 I understand is a low cost hotel but at least some cleaning once in a while and before you take in the new guest would be nice. Not recommended just spend 50-100 pounds more for something better!

Worst stay ever

Hotel staff welcoming, beds surprisingly comfortable and a great location.

Yes it doesn’t have many amenities to offer internally; but it has decent sized rooms and right in the middle of everything. The reviews are very harsh on what is a great value hotel when considering the price/location and cleanliness of the furniture (not the decor, that could do with a bit of tlc)

Right in the centre

Spent one night in this hotel with my friends. It is a small and narrow house. We had a room at the attic of the house. We had a sink in our room. Luckily, the shared bathroom, although having only a space for taking a shower and a toilet, was located on the same floor as our room. Stairs are very tricky and I don't recommend this hotel for persons with disabilities. We payed 150 euro total for a night. Stuff is really generous, nice, fluent in English and glad to provide more info about the town. General impression, it's kinda interesting (rarely seen) and ok for a night or two, but poor value/quality ratio.

Oh god - where do I start!?

Seems like place someone rents for a night or two to get extremely high on heroin or something!

I never write reviews but this place was so bad I just want to warn anyone else who is thinking to book the place (and I have stayed in some bad places before!)

3 friends of mine and I needed a big room so we panic-booked this place as our original hotel cancelled on us just over a week before our holiday.

Reception area shocked us as soon as we got there, kettle, microwave and some tea laid out in a small space just in front of reception desk and a big sign behind the desk saying 'This is not burger king, things are run my way' or something along those lines.

Once we checked in we were walked into a building few doors away from the reception and entered through very dodgy looking hall with extremely steep stairs. Walls and floor were very dirty with scribes on the walls. Door handle to the room seemed very loose and probably could of been broken just by pulling a little harder. 

The room was very simple - 4 single beds pushed to make 2 doubles, small side tables (mine was so dirty I had to clean it myself, had some sort or dark brown stain which was dried to the surface - could have been chocolate, blood or s*it - will never know nor do I want to!). Floors were white tiles at some stage but became some sort of off-white dirty colour due to not being washed (probably ever!). There was so much dirt on the floor that we never walked without shoes on and if we stepped on the floor by accident we would change socks straight away - streets outside seemed to be cleaner!

Curtains had countless amounts of stains, windows looked like they have never been cleaned and we have asked each other countless times if they were open as we could hear everything on the street (single glazing). Walls had stains allover as well as 2 chairs which were in the room. The chairs had to be used as a wardrobe as there was no place to put clothing apart from a desk in the corner and these 2 chairs.

Luckily bedding was clean (we tried not to investigate too much at this point as we had to sleep there!) and bathroom was ok, however 2 out of 4 towels had big holes in them (probably around 5cm in diameter). I was lucky to have my travel towel with me as my towel from a hotel was so small I could just about cover my chest, we used my hotel towel as floor mat in the bathroom as there was none and stepping on the floor barefoot seemed defeating a point of having a shower in a first place. 

Location is great but nothing else about this hotel was good, however if you still decide to stay please bring your own towel, bedding, slippers, extra pairs of socks, bleach, mop, other cleaning products, but better yet, do not stay for your own safety!

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

ABSOLUTE Dirt. Not worth the money. There's nothing good about this place besides the location. Walls are paper thin. Could heard others residents using their toilets which was vile!  My advise is to pay a we bit extra and get a quality sleep.

Nothing to write home about. You are paying for the location and convenience. The building is functional though nearly dilapidated.
Though great location, only 10 minutes walk from the train station. Welcoming staff, overpriced rooms, So pick based on what you need. If you are looking for an expensive place to crash, go for it.
