We stay at the spacious garden apartment at De Pijp. Bigger and newly renovated, it was quite a surprise. But the place absolutely stank of cigarette smoke, no matter how many doors or windows are open the smell is in the curtains, lounge chairs, bedding. Also the overflowing ashtray that has fallen over hundreds of times has left a pile of cigarettes all over the ground. Apparently they have a no smoking policy, but it's obviously not enforced and certainly no extra cleaning if this rule is breached. Spraying toilet spray before we turned up to hide the smell of the apartment wasn't appreciated as didn't work. Have to say the greeter was friendly and kind. This place needs love.

Great apartment but being maintained

Our stay was just what what we needed! We came for a sport competition and our rental was an extraordinary one indeed. High quality apartment with all the amenities for a perfect stay. The hotel had a fitness room and a sauna which was deeply appreciated. The location was tranquil with a bus station in front of the hotel. A chic and modern lobby with a great bar and a restaurant in which we enjoyed breakfasts. The staff was positive and well behaved and that made all the difference in our book. This place brought us luck in our sport endeavours and we would not think of spending another night in an another hotel if we ever came back, 
A big thanks to all the staff members who made us feel welcome and at home, 
You are a proof that the staff is still a number one factor in the service industry. Thanks a million guys and I hope we will meet again.

Just what we needed for our trip!

RATS IN THE APARTMENT.

Rats had eaten our food during the night...we had a nightmare in this apartment. We told them we got rats and they offered two options 1- stay with the rodents 4 more days until the rat extermination company arrives or 2- move to another apartment very far, cheaper and smaller. Of course we chose option 2. Then we had to complain more than 5 times until they agree there was a price difference between the to locations. After a very atresfull situation with the company they accept to refund ⅓ of the difference we have overpaid. (I hope they keep their word). This refund didn't even cover the cost of Ubers we had to take every night because the new apartment was too far. They really made our holidays a nightmare. It is impossible to reach them outside their set range of working hours, even in an emergency. They claim to have 24/7 assistance in the website, which is a lie. 

The excuse they gave us about the rats: There is a construction next to the building, so it is common to have rodents. And they advised to use boxes to keep our food safe. Unbelievable! . The problem is the rats eat the boxes too!

We come to Amsterdam every year and this is by far the worst experience we have had.



RATS IN THE APARTMENT.

We are so pleased we chose this Cityden apartment for our first family trip to Amsterdam, and we would return here ~ no hesitation.

We booked 6+ months ahead directly through the Cityden website and got both excellent service and an excellent price.(€213 per night plus taxes.) Note there is a minimum 7 nights stay to book this way. We had multiple apartments and locations to chose from and the reservation staff were able to help us whittle down the best apartment for our stay. 

We chose Keizersgracht 391 apartment # II, a 2 bedroom/ 1 bathroom decent sized apartment which is on the second floor. (The second set of stairs in the common hallway is fairly steep but has good handrails and is carpeted) It is directly on the Keizersgracht canal, and you have a beautiful view from the living area sash windows.

The apartment was very clean, and had no odour issues from the plumbing that other reviews have mentioned. It is, in my opinion, well furnished and supplied with crockery, cutlery etc. There were 2 big fans and plenty of opening windows to deal with the warm weather during our stay. Plus a great washing machine and dryer too.

The staff member that was assigned to look after us was Casia, an energetic, local team member. She was friendly, helpful and pretty quick to respond to contact via Whatsapp.

The neighbourhood is a standout location. It is in a very safe, quiet area that is full of history that appealed to my Dutch ancestry and we felt very privileged to be able to stay here for the week. There is big a Albert Heijn supermarket a 6 minute walk away. (But note you can only pay with cash or a local Dutch card, no Visa or MasterCard.)

The only issue I could pinpoint is that the communal hallway and staircases needed a good clean and vacuum, but that is no reflection on Cityden as there are other apartments within the building.

We plan on returning to Amsterdam in 2021 but with a larger family group and we would definitely stay here again if available. Cityden operate 2 additional apartments within the same building which is great for family groups.



Keizersgracht 391 ~ Fabulous location, Fabulous Apartment.

Where to start...
Been staying here most weeks for 3 months, but my mind is made up, not staying here again.
Room - smelly and I am sure that everyone’s bathroom waste is somehow routed through the apartment walls.
No Wardrobe? Seriously, no hangers, but no where to hang anything as the wardrobe has no hanging bar.
No instructions for the microwave / over thing, making it impossible to use.
TV unwatchable, unless you log into Netflix or Amazon Prime as the networked TV is useless.
Fire alarms every night at 10pm..... the list goes on.
I think they rushed the opening of this building, as almost everything needs repair / correction.
Sorry CityDen, but this is the last you will see of me

Dissapointing

We had a clean and spacious apartment for 10 days. The host was great and responsive. My only criticism was the beds. They were a bit uncomfortable. But great location,  lose to show, restaurants, bars and grocery store. Within walking distance from everywhere.

Great location

There was almost no attention from the property in the emergency situation (robbery in the apartment with no door/windows breakage). Rare answers in messengers, skipping calls, no actions (relocation, locks change) - when you need it most. Police came in 10 min. Someone from the property - only in 4 (!) days. I consider all our stay turned to be a complete fail from Cityden - just because any other service doesn't make any sense if you feel unsafe in apartment that was robbed with own master key and locks have not been changed for days. Disgusting experience. Neighbours say another robbery happened just week before. Contact me if you need details.

Unbelievable ignorance in emergency situation. Stay away from such hospitality!

You can't beat the location of this apartment for sightseeing and getting around in Amsterdam.  The apartment was very clean with the exception of the stained sofa.  Having said that, it also needed some attention.  The base of the  lamp in the downstairs BR was broken and swung about wildly.  There were 4 adults but we had 3 wine glasses.  The tv went out the second day.  Someone did come right away to look at it, but it was never fixed during our stay.  The water pressure in the shower was poor...or perhaps we Americans couldn't figure the shower out.  not sure.   Dutch stairs do take some getting used to, so I agree with an earlier comment about elderly customers.   Not of that took away from our great vacation in Amsterdam.

Steps from the Magere Brug

Our family of 6 stayed in a spacious comfy apartment within walking distance of the Anne Frank House and numerous tram stops to other locations.  We loved the wonderful bed linens and nice bathrooms.  The kitchen was sparsely supplied with dishes & utensils, but it was enough for us to prepare several quick meals.  There was a lovely garden with a big table out back... if the weather has been better, I’m sure we could have used that feature!  It was great that there were 2 grocery stores and lots of other shops very near to this apartment.  We enjoyed our stay & we would use CityDen again.

Comfy Apartment, Close to Great Sights

We stayed in their apartments for 30 days and had a bad experience. Apartments were not clean at all and not sure what was on the walls.. Heating and television did not work. Bad smell in the bathroom. They were responsive through whatsapp but no actual actions were taken. The mattrasses were old and sagging. Kitchen was not clean at all and the window could not be closed. It took more than a week to repair. Television was fixed in our final week. A refund was promised but no response to follow up once we left the apartment. In summary, a bad experience and would not recommend to book.
