The characteristic charming inn is a bit tucked away in the hilly countryside of the south of Limburg, the Netherlands’ most southern province. Besides the charm of the place we were enchanted by the comforting, relaxing way of the service. Arriving with a party of 10 during some 20 minutes, we were served the drinks almost immediately, and the food within a fair amount of time. The food is in fact regional and not complicated but suited very much our purpose of an occasional family lunch. All dishes, even many different ones, were good of taste, be it my romadou (strong tasting local cheese) be it the veal ragout, be it the vol-au-vent all of them tasty. 
In conclusion, if you’re hungry for a simple but tasty meal, go there. 

An excellent countryside inn

Born in 1978 just about 400meters as the crow flies from "De Geulhemermolen" I just had to celebrate my 40th birthday party at this smashing authentic location, right next to the river Geul. Exactly in the middle between Maastricht and Valkenburg, the very "Dirty South". We now live in 'Holland', about 200 km's from my birth origin. 
With 5 couples and 10 kids we enjoyed this smashing former watermill. What a picturesque location. We had the most fine dining bbq diner from chef Fred and dedicated service from patron Henri. These are the kind of staff you happily hand-over with their best of skills to serve your very closest friends. Every wish you have is met at best service, and even better they top your request with even better suggestions. In the neighboring garden we enjoyed the swimming pool and closeby are several playgrounds. Simply heaven for celebrating parents and children. The bar has multiple beers on tap and 40 special bottled beers. Wines too are exquisite. All staff have the Southernmost hospitality, this region is so famous for. The rooms have recently been completely renovated and the beds are a killer. I've never seen my friends so rejuvenated after a night out. Geulhemermolen, what a feast in the Dirty South!!

A must visit in the "dirty South"

The Tavern is in a lovely setting, nestled by the river and it has a great pub restaurant.  However the bedroom was the noisiest I've ever stayed in.  There was no sound deadening at all from the hallway so you could hear every word of the other guest's conversations and the staff working in the kitchen.  I'd have accepted this as I have in other hotels, but the staff then proceeded to have a shouting match at 1:00 in the morning when their shift ended.  This went on for approximately half and hour with no consideration for the guests whatsoever.  When I raised this in the morning, politely and clearly, I received just a shrug from the manager.  Terrible service, I'd never stay there again.  The place is the complete opposite of the Dutch word "Gezellig".  Unless the translation actually is "rude noisy and uncomfortable".
