This is likely the best accommodation available in the charming town of Bolsward. And the hotel is charming and recently renovated to a high standard. The issue, however, is that the owners went for style over substance. The rooms look nice, the bed is comfortable but that’s where the comfort stops. The manager was very accommodating when I asked for extra pillows and towels, he even brought a mini fridge when we asked about it. But these things should have been in the room already. Our suite was roomy but too many of the requirements of comfort were overlooked. The sink is in the main room, which is ok, but there was not a single towel bar or hook. The shower has no shelves or soap dishes so your shampoo, shaver etc has to sit on the floor. Breakfast cost as much as the full buffet and hot options on offer everywhere else. However, it is a served breakfast of small portions. Everyone was very nice but our overall experience was not very comfortable for a 3 night stay.

Not good enough

We stayed at "Het Weeshuis" for 3 nights and had a perfect time! The atmosphere at this very charming place felt really nice and warm. It was lovely to enjoy a nice tea and a glass of wine in the garden. The owner was very helpful in planning our bike trips and all the staff at the Weeshuis was really friendly. We also liked the availability of the honesty bar. The typical set Dutch breakfast was nice as well. All in all; a really lovely stay at this special place which we can't recommend enough!

Great place in Bolsward!

A really nice, comfortable and charming hotel in the center of Bolsward. Friendly owners who dont hesitate to help you with anything. Lovely terrace where you can have your breakfast or eat the home made pizzas. There are two donkeys in the garden and the house dog is really kind. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathroom is also clean and spacious but a little bit outdated. We would recommend to stay here. 

Lovely and charming hotel in Bolsward

We stayed here during the Christmas period for 5 nights.   The rooms are comfortable. The location is superb.  Breakfast is typical Dutch with a good variety of fresh produce.  What made this stay most memorable is the amazing customer service received by Mylan, the owner,  who went above and beyond to accommodate us for an extra night in his fully booked hotel after our car breakdown.

We will be back.

Het Weeshuis offers a quiet peaceful location in a repurposed historic building. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Our two room suite was spacious and opened to a lovely terrace overlooking the donkey paddock.  The bed provided comfortable sleeping. But there were a few negatives. The room door hardware did not function properly, the Wi-Fi is sketchy, breakfast did not include any hot items, and there was no shelf in the newly remodeled shower making it a little inconvenient.

Peaceful get way

A very lovely place in a very nice village. The house has a lot of character and charme - with a few small issues, i.e. we suddenly had the handle of our bathroom door in our hand...
The rooms are quite big and all a little different.
The breakfast offers a great variety of food and the dark bread is very delicious!
The staff is absolutely helpful and supportive at all times.
Sitting outside enjoying the sunshine in the very lovely garden was great fun too!
Overall a stay not to forget!

Weekend with Charme

We stayed here for 4 nights as a base for our tour of Friesland and were very happy there. At first, it's a bit strange as it's nothing like any hotel or  b and b that we have ever stayed in, but the unique atmosphere definitely grows on you. The special house, rooms and grounds , furniture and historical artifacts all contribute to its uniqueness. The owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast room was lovely with its one long table which gives you a chance to talk to and get to know different kinds of people. The breakfast itself was most satisfactory. We got two large rooms which were  well-equipped and comfortable. The large bathroom was lacking a few basic items but I understand there will be improvements soon. Wi-fi is a bit erratic but we made do. All in all, I can certainly recommend the hotel .

A unique place

Het Weeshuis in Bolsward Friesland is an emotional paradise where pleasure is Manon and Mylan’s top priority. This pleasure is induced via the beautiful façade of this stimulating building that greets you and is further enhanced by the warm feeling of home. From registration to departure, what appears to be casual, is in fact both strategic and well planned. This unique décor coupled with the quality of same is matched by the friendly professional atmosphere. We are certainly looking forward to our next visit.

Five star comforts in a five ster athmosphere.

The family apartment we stayed at was huge, nicely decorated, modern, with own exit to the back yard, very suitable for children. The beds were comfortable. I would maybe improve a bit cleaning. Otherwise the staff was really friendly, they even had a small surprise for our kid. The breakfast was stylish, relaxing with great service. Wifi was rather poor, but we finally managed to read some books.The hotel is in the town center, easy to go for a walk.

Friendly staff and lovely back yard

This hotel offers you spacious, clean rooms with very good, quality beds. The rooms and the rest of the building are lovely decorated in a modern, fresh but also homely way. We had booked a special deal through the hotelwebsite, of 4 nights with breakfast and dinner included. Both were really very good: fresh, local products. The meals were so tasty. Bolsward is a wonderful Frisian city, our base for cycling the Elfstedentocht in four days. When the weather is good, you can enjoy a drink and or meal in the well kept garden of the hotel. At the back parking lots are available also. We were also able to stall our bikes inside the building and recharge them (e-bikes) druring the night. The  friendly and helpfull staff make you feel at home. I would highly recommend this hotel ánd restaurant to anyone who wished to visit Bolsward and/or explore Friesland.
