Located directly opposite a cycle path through the woods was perfect for our stay.  The ground floor apartment was very clean, very well equipped with lots of space.  The garden area leading from the lounge was in the sun all day  with good seating for eating outdoors.  Any queries we had were dealt with very promptly by the Reception team who all speak good English.  There was always parking available close to our apartment - the complex was very peaceful - there are no facilities on the complex which we knew before our arrival.  Due to a travel delay we were arriving after Reception had closed so a quick call to the main reservation number enabled them to give us details of where to collect our key.  The location was easy to understand but the access more complicated.  Fortunately a guest came to our aid.  If you need to rent linen there is one charge for bed linen and an additional one for towels (no t towel).  A toaster is available from Reception (no charge)

Excellent accommodation

The accommodation is located near Ecomare, Paal 17 and the National Park. Many beautiful destinations can be reached on foot. For destinations further away, bicycles can be rented. 

For grocery shopping in Den Burg or De Koog a car is recommended. 

Although the residence was built many years ago, you don't notice that at all in the apartments. Everything is clean and well maintained. The furniture was renewed, a new kitchen was installed and also the beds are new. 

The apartment for four people had two bedrooms, a toilet, a living room with balcony, a bathroom with whirlpool bath, shower, rainforest shower. In one bedroom there was also a sink and shower. There were three televisions and a well-functioning wifi. 

It should be noted that the equipment of the apartments offered varies greatly.

On the premises, you can always find a parking space when you return from your excursions. There are also two charging stations for electric vehicles.

For nature lovers!

First of all we had a nice stay in Texel and in the Residentie Californie. The place is easy to access either by car or by pubblic transport. We find the Residentie well located, in between Den Koog and Den  Burg; near the beach (15 minutes walking) and with a nice woods just cross the road. The appartment is well equipped and clean, the owners helpfull. The bike rental is a plus. 
And now few details that we do not agree with: the booking has to be paid in advance and it is not refundable. 
Bed linnen and towels have to be paid (ok, but at least not with holes)
Overall we reccomended Residentie Californie

Few details.....

We were there right in the time of corona crisis. Every thing was cleaned, linens were in sealed plastics, sanitizers in all common places. The property is just beside the forest, and very near to Ecomare and the beach.

Right in the middle of nature

The apartment is like a home away from home. Great decor, storage facilities, living room and dining room facilities (books, TV, dining table, coffee table, sofas, etc). It's just very cosy, and the kitchen is great with everything you need to prepare food in the evening. It was just like being at home.

Toilet roll isn't provided which is an added inconvenience to go out and buy some. The mattresses are also way too soft and bouncy, and therefore don't stay on the bed so well. However, the day was excellent apart from the very end (checkout) when we needed some assistance to carry our luggage to the car. I was on crutches due to an accident, my wife is heavily pregnant, and my father-in-law has polio and uses a walking stick. Unfortunately, we were told no one was available to assist us due to a busy reception. My pregnant wife therefore had to carry all the luggage on her own. I would expect a residence such as this to at least offer assistance with baggage to disabled guests, but it wasn't the case on this occasion.

Very cosy, great facilities, a home away from home

Our family booked two apartments during the famous largest Catamaran race Round Texel. California Residence is conveniently located near Peer 17 giving easy access to the beach. The apartments are fully equipped with everything one needs except toilet articles making it easy to prepare your breakfast and any other meals there. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Good value for money!

We come back every year for a weekend with friends. We rent a huis for all of us. Everything's there. You only need to worry about food. You get the camping feeling but with a luxury and easy touch. My idea of camping 😁 the staff is also very welcoming and supportive. 

Perfect! 

I would like to rate this accommodation a 'good' since it is not average but also not very good. The apartment was very clean and fully equipped. Although it was a pity that there are to tablets for dishwasher and no liquid soap for doing the dishes. 
The bed for 2 persons is far too small, when 1 person is 2 meters tall. The other beds were soft and pillows can be filled up. The interior is a bit outdated. 
Water pressure was good and we had a nice stay.

Long weekend get-away

We got great value on a two-bedroom apartment.  It includes a full kitchen, a large living room, and a large patio balcony.  The kitchen has a stovetop, microwave, fridge, and a dishwasher.  It's about a 20 minute walk to the beach, or must faster on one of the bikes that you can rent here.  The staff is very friendly, although the reception is only open at certain times of day.  It's a great base of operations for enjoying the island.  I would definitely stay here again next time I visit Texel.
