Entrance looks very inviting and comfortable. Reception was pleasant. Room quite small, but very clean, with all you need for a short stay. Beds quite hard, shower not much more than a trickle (maybe shower head needs replacing?). Breakfast is - very 'old fashioned' these days - served at the table but varied and plentiful. Evening meals were decent fare (nothing very fancy), but tasteful and well presented.
Service (mostly owner himself ??) was pleasant and friendly. One point though: beside the wines there wasn't a drinks menu with prices to be found ?!?!

Small but sweet

I just love the name of the town Dwingaloo!

De Drift staff were amazing!   Went out their way to make us feel welcome and kept the kitchen open for us.   

At dinner the food was delicious and plentiful.   

We had two rooms.  One on the first floor and one on the second.   Both were about the same size.   Smallish.   For the price, I was willing to forgo space.

Rooms very very clean and comfortable, just not spacious.    There is very little sound barrier in the door so the next door neighbours talking in the hall and going in and out of their rooms.   was loud.

That was the only sound we heard.   There was no traffic, bar noise or anything else, so once the neighbour went to the room it was silent even with the window open.

I like to try local establishments when I travel rather than always be in the big hotel chains.    It adds to the adventure. 

De Drift is worth the adventure.

Small Town charm

This hotel is for the able bodied with the narrow stairs. Don't bring too much luggage. The rooms are smaller than the web site does imagine, but it is all very functional and clean. No balcony or terrace to spend time in your room. Tiny tv above the beds. The food is very Dutch, unsurprising but very tasteful, well prepared and appealingly served.
The downstairs lobby has been updated and looks inviting, with a tv, magazines
