Our stay at house 140 in Bodelaeke was fantastic! Jacqueline is an incredible host.The location is amazing, as it is in a relaxing village on the lake while still only a quick 5min bike ride away from Giethoorn. The bedrooms were very comfortable, and we were able to enjoy many meals outdoors, indoors (kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, plates etc). The house has a lovely pier into the canal which has very clean water - perfect for a morning swim or afternoon boat ride. I highly recommend this spot for both families and friends looking for a getaway!

Wonderful stay in Giethoorn

We have just returned from 11 days wonderfully holiday. It was our first visit to Holland and we loved every minute. The accommodation and site is first rate. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome and nothing was to much trouble for the staff.
The village is so picturesque and We would recommend it to all.
My husband had a great  time fishing , while enjoyed the excellent cycling.
We are already looking to book for next year .

Bodelaeke water resort consists of deferent type of chalets, each chalet has its own water view, the resort is very calm and the chalet I booked was very clean. The staff of the resort are very friendly and tried their best to make my stay enjoyable. There are many activities that you can do at the resort such as swimming in the lake, boat riding, fishing, cycling, walking, BBQ, etc. Moreover, you can visit the lovely nearby town of Gethoorn. The chalet I booked was not air conditioned which made one the hot nights uncomfortable due to high temperature (35 C), other days was fine. therefore, I advise to check the weather at the resort before you plane your trip.

The most relaxing place

What a great place, luxury houses all on the waterfront. 
You can rent a boat or bike or bring your own. 
Take a swim in front of your house or you can go fishing. In winter when there is ice you can go iceskating. All in the nature in front of your beautiful house. 
all houses have a lot of space inside and nice big gardens. There is very good restaurant on the park with harbour view and for the kids there is a playground on the small beach. 

The best place to be for a holiday in Holland! 

Best luxury waterresort in Holland

The first thing I should say is that this is not an easy place to get to if you do not know your way around North Holland. There is a lot of water and a lot of small cantilever bridges. Holland is famous for its love of bikes and they have right of way - but so do the boats around here and if you are unlucky you might find even the shortest journey can take forever as you wait for bridges to rise and fall.

But - it is worth the wait. The scenery is outstanding and there is not a single hill to mar the panorama. Green, green and more green greet you alongside the water and of course the wildlife.

which brings me to the site - which is why you are reading this in the first place. The resort is set in a massive national park. Each plot has a jetty and double parking bay. Each plot is different from the next because they are all owned individually. This is also not a Pontins or Butlins and each property is individually designed. There is no IKEA furniture here! We were deeply impressed by how well apportioned the property we had rented (306) was. Rooms were large, every window had an insect net over it so no mozzies or midges unless you invited them in, the kitchen was a proper kitchen and the crockery and cutlery was not Tesco Essentials! We even had a Nesspresso Machine and some complementary pods for it!. The two bathrooms were basically wet rooms and this meant the dog could get cleaned as well. The accomodation in all was really nice and the resort, like most of Holland itself, was very dog friendly (our neighbours were not - and even seemed to hate the waterfowl being anywhere near them so why they chose to come here is beyond me!). We can only thank the staff to the highest degree - my mother-in-law accidentally threw her rings into the bin and the bags went to the main bins at the front. We thought they were gone but the staff allowed us - very un-health and safety - to rummage through with the help of the local garbage people until we found the rings! It was a miracle but they were so helpful and we cannot fault that. The surrounding area was of course beautiful - lots of long walks and bird watching without being nerdy. Also take some time going into town and hire a boat - roam the waterways and get some fresh air. Put the mobile phone away for the day and just marvel at nature - it is worth it!

Just a note here to say that the Spar in town is good for essentials but not cheap. If you want more stuff then go into Steenwijk which is about 8km away and they have lots of supermarkets. Also try the local beers because they are superb. For the cheese lovers then make sure you visit the cheese shops that are dotted around. You have never seen so much cheese but they will let you sample it and then of course buy it. I like mature cheese and some of the varieties of Ould are amazing. Tell them what you like and they will find it for you!

Other places to visit are Meppel, Groeningen, Vollenhove, Kalenberg and any number of small towns and villages dotted around Giethoorn.

Put the mobile phone away for the day and just marvel at nature - it is worth it!

If lighthouses, coloured wooden houses, boating, lakeside views and a phenomenal cuisine are your style: you have GOT to go here. Rent a lovely cottage house with thatched roof, enjoy the tranquility of nature right from your garden. Guaranteed you will love it!
