The hotel is run by a friendly, helpful and energetic host.
Lovely location a bit outside of the town but you can rent a boat and have awesome trip.
Some rooms have terrace on canal view. Our room was tidy and breakfast was good enough. Do recommend that place.

Friendly host

Hotel du Harmonie is a wonderful peaceful place to stay. It is located in a quite area south of Steenwijk. You can take a 70 bus direct from the train station to the hotel. Rooms are basic but functional and clean. Nice boat rental which we did and bike rental which we did not have time to do. Dinner was also enjoyable. Recommended.

Quirky and really good

This hotel attracts a lot of attention across many review sites but I just didn’t work out why. It is nice enough but extremely average. They make a great deal about the location and some rooms having exceptional canal views, but even these are underwhelming. The rooms are clean, small, and rather dated. The breakfast is adequate but not outstanding in any way.

What’s all the hype about? Very average hotel

My wife and I visited with my 2 grown sons . The hotel was very accommodating as we arrived late in the evening and kept the bar open for some evening refreshments. Unfortunately the restaurant is closed on Thursday evening and it would have been helpful to know that if you want to eat in the restaurant you need to let them know by 5pm with your menu choice. Unfortunately we didn’t know this so where unable to dine in the restaurant. The breakfast however was very pleasant and well stocked . Our room was delightful and the view from the terrace was stunning. Overall a great hotel with very pleasant staff and management

A very nice family hotel

A family owned hotel that provided a friendly, personal touch.  The moment we walked into the lobby we were greeted with a warm welcome and smile.  Not just the owner, but her entire staff treated us the same way.  The rooms were comfortable and very clean, a mini fridge in the room was also very convenient.   The morning complimentary breakfast was very adequate, offering many choices.  Located a few km’s from central Giethoorn,  it was very quiet and peaceful place to come back to at the end of the day.  The restaurant was wonderful, I enjoyed a delicious salmon dinner.

A last minute decision that turned out to be wonderful.

We didn't stay here, but we rented a boat from De Harmonie with a small group of friends. The owners were lovely, cheerful, and helpful. The 3-hour rental/tour was excellent. Very handily, they have an app to map your route so you can get back to the property without a problem. We had a great time, and thought the service was top notch.

Horrible!
The owner of the hotel is very rude and loudly.
We came for 1 night and the room was dusty.
At the beginning, she even didn’t let us to park out of the hotel.

Really poor hotel - do yourself a favour, and don’t come here!! The price is not worth it…

Awful holiday

Dont go to giethoorn they are verry racist and don't want forneres in their village as a toerist you are welcome because you are givving them money and work but accutually they hate everybody from a foreign country. I saw it today in a documentry witch is called zembla on national television

We had a great stay at De Harmonie. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We spent a fantastic day on their rental bikes in the morning and on their rental boat in the afternoon - an amazing experience. If you get the chance, we definitely recommend both activities. Thank you so much for everything.

Great stay at Hotel de Harmonie

Especially in Corona time, it’s not easy to run a hotel-restaurant. But after a long closure, hotel-restaurant ‘De Harmonie’, in the rural surroundings of Giethoorn, is doing fine. 

Owner Jan Beenen seems a bit like the Dutch version of the sympathetic hotel-owner John Cleese (remember: Fawlty Towers, BBC). His main passion is to successfully make his guests feel at home! 

Unlike his wife Kathinka. Please brighten up Kathinka, what’s your problem? Find yourself a yob you really like!!! 

Otherwise: great hotel, great surroundings; interior could do with a make-over.
