Bud Gett Hostel in Groningen is part of the Martini Hotels Group. The hostel is located in the Martini Hotel in the center of Groningen city. Besides bunk beds in dormitories the hostel offers a few small 2-person-rooms with a pre-fab bathroom. Much more privacy than a dormitory and your own shower for a reasonable price. I needed a room for one night on a weekday and paid 65 Euros in July '23 (high season). A standard room in every hotel is much more expensive in high season (over a 100 Euros).

The people were very kind and helpful, the room was small, but very clean and comfortable, the location is great to explore Groningen and you are surrounded by restaurants and bars. It's a hostel so I expected some nuisance in the night from the dormitories, but that wasn't too bad. I had a good night sleep.

Next time I am visiting Groningen I will absolutely book a room at Bud Gett Hotels again.

Private room for a reasonable price in a hostel

The hostel is centrally located.  Check-in was a bit complicated via the Martini hotel next door.  It's worth renting a bike for €15 per day.    Don't expect any creature comforts and you'll even need to buy your own soap (never experienced that before).

Any port in a storm

I understand it is an hostel and "maybe" I shouldn't expect anything, but my bed and my towel were dirty so I asked to the reception and I received a cleaned towel, but for the bed the answer was just "I'm so sorry".
So.....I think before receiving guests it's important to control the room just to be sure to offer at least a basic service: a room cleaned.

Located in a good position....but....

I spent 2 nights in this hostel (private room).
Location is great, around 10 min from the train station, same for the Grote Markt. In front of the hostel there is a bus stop. Around there are restaurants and also a supermarket.
Reception is not open 24h, so in case there is nobody it is necessary to go at the Martini hotel.
I had a double room, but room size in my opinion is more for 1 person than 2.  Room is very basic. Bed, 2  small cubic boxes for personal stuff, a night desk and 3 hooks to hang clothes. There was also a tv that I have never used. The bathroom was super small. In the bathroom there was no soap but I got some at the reception after I asked. 
Breakfast buffet  was extra (but at reasonable price) with good choice of cheese, cold cuts, drinks, bread, eggs, etc. It was good. It was served at Martini hotel.
During Saturday night there were people doing noise outside...not sure if it was would have been the same with somebody 24h at the reception.
There is also an common area with tables and microwave, glasses, cuttlery, etc  that I guess can be used by the guess can be used by guests but didn't ask.
In my opinion this hostel a good choice for a short period.

Good accomodation for short period

We were cycle touring and needed a place to dry out and recharge our devices.  This excellent, large hostel did all that and more.

We were able to put the bikes in a secure store and our two person room turned out to have two bunk beds so there was more room for us to spread out.  There was a 24 hour supermarket less than 200 m away and a fully equipped self-catering kitchen; so our evening meal was taken care of.  We chose to have the hostel breakfast, which was a big, buffet with everything from fruit to meats to cheeses and many different types of bread.

It was easy to find, the staff were very helpful and we had an excellent night's rest.

Clean, welcoming and just what we needed!

A cheap, clean place to spend a night or two in the city center. It is very basic but clean, and the beds are comfortabel enough. The location is perfect. Each bed has it's own walloutlet and nightlight.

Cheap and effective

I was in this place 3 times during one night and they didn't incheck me, but reservation was paid. Portier should loose a job. I had paid 60€ room and I had to stay on station.
So much arrogance, disrespect I never meet before.

PLACE WITHOUT RESPECT

We were very happy with our three person room at Bud Gett Hostel in Groningen. It was very easy to get to from the Central Station and very near lots of shopping and restaurants with lots of info about places to see and visit in the area (wish there'd been info about the great bicycle "knooppunt" system). The room was very basic - three beds and a locker with a bathroom. Everything was very clean. The community space included lots of seating with plates and utensils. Tea and other hot beverages were available for sale in the lobby (but hot water was free). I'm not sure if there was a refrigerator available - it was cool enough that we stored our leftovers in a bag hung outside over our balcony. We did not do breakfast there. There was nearby bike parking for guests, free good wifi, and pleasant helpful staff. I would stay here again and recommend it, especially if you can get a good rate online.

Great location for a basic, affordable hostel

The hostel is in the city center however the room which I booked was pretty quiet. The staff was helpful and a nice touch were the linens and the soap bar. Apart from that everything else was below average. 
With my boyfriend, we booked a room thinking it had a double bed, however, the "double bed" was actually two bank beds one next to another with a hole in between [since it was impossible to connect them due to the metal frame around the beds]. The room itself was not meticulously clean however it wasn't that dirty either. There were some hair strands here and there. The bathroom seemed clean. The biggest problem which I had was the heating system. Firstly, it took more than 20 minutes to start heating up the room which was rather cold due to the poor isolation of the windows which covered the entire wall facing outside. When it finally started heating, regardless of trying to change the heating direction, the fans always seemed to blow directly to the face. On the other hand, the poor window isolation had the wind blow right into the back of my head. It was a bit impossible to sleep being blown simultaneously with hot and cold air from two sides, so I ended up sleeping 3 hours and having a huge headache in the morning. Sincerely, I wouldn't recommend it.
