Special monumental building in the heart of Grou.  Fraukje is the owner and has so much love and dedication for her business. She goes the extra miles to give you everything you wish and need and has so much knowledge about the area, what to do and she is the best host we have had in years.  Excellent breakfast and super sleeping.

Marvellous Intimate Place

Beautiful house, very clean and comfortable. Two rooms. Nice living and eating room. Great location. Extremely customer friendly. Totally recommended if you are in the area. Liked it a lot! All easy and relaxed. And amazing breakfast!!!

Fraukje was born to do just what she does. She provides excellent service, the breakfast is huge and memorable, the rooms are clean as is the living room. We were quite lucky with the house being 'all ours' for one night. It is so quiet and the space is cozy. We had one of the wines which we drank quite slowly so we were able to notice it got better and better each day We had a fun boat trip with a picnic basket; a real sweet tooth's delight. We changed our minds about what day we'd take that boat, then changed our minds about what time we would take that boat. And again. Basically, I'd be rather annoyed with us, but not Fraukje. She really is adamant about making this experience perfect. Very much recommended!

Beautiful place, great hostess

Wonderful find in the tiny village of Grou.  A gem of Friesland.  Just two bedrooms so perfect for a family.  To see a 400 year old building in such a wonderful condition was such a nice feeling.
Fraukje and her husband and child are so friendly and warm.  This place is definitely a must and I have been handing out their postcards since my visit.

Best Ever!

Stayed here for one night with four persons (2 bedrooms), which means you have the whole place to yourself, including the sitting-room, kitchen, outside (small) terrace and historic setting.
Kitchen is well equipped with drinks and food for very reasonable prices, which came in handy since we had reserved (with Fraukje, the innkeeper, directly and for a very reasonable price) a barge to check out the surrounding lakes. A meagre 100 meter walk brought us to the barge and we enjoyed a fantastic and relaxing 5 hour boat ride, helped by great weather. 
Breakfast was served by Fraukje the next morning and was absolutely fantastic with many local ingredients.
Really, nothing to complain about. It was just perfect.
With the sun out, in this village on the water, staying in this B&B, life is simply perfect.

Unique Friesland experience

This b&b is in a 400 year old house. That in itself is cool, but everything has been totally renovated in a warm and casual way. We felt at home here from the moment we drove into the beautiful village of Grouw. . We stayed here 3 nights and I think we enjoyed this part of our trip more than the 7 days in Amsterdam. Fraukje, the innkeeper, was so nice and so helpful that we felt like family (especially when her cute 3yr old son came along). She tailored breakfast times to our schedule and was very helpful giving good directions and sightseeing tips. The village itself is on the water with several marinas, a church from the 13th century (!), and a village square (1 block from inn) with restaurants where everyone sits outdoors in the summer. If you're looking to unwind and discover the beautiful Frisian countryside we highly recommend De Thuiskamer. Great for couples. Families would be fine if kids are old enough to sleep in their own room. I understand that there are a few festivals during the summer when it gets loud into the night but it was pretty peaceful and quiet when we were there. being from the US and on our first visit to the NL, we couldn't have asked for a better introduction to the country.
