We stayed at WhereEls for 10 days in July 2021. The location of the apartment is very convenient. Also, the place is spacious and well-equipped. However, there were also some flaws in our stay. We find the host unprofessional, for example, there were house visits without any notice or even our presence in the apartment (we were surprised to find the host's things in our luggage). We asked the host to let us know when she wants to come in as we have a newborn baby with us, so we don't want to have him wake up every time. It was not well received. Finally, we complained about the smell in the house - there was a lot of moisture in there. Again, the host seemed to be pretty annoyed and she just ignored the whole thing.

Good location, not so good service

The location was great…. Close to shopping, restaurants and the train station to get to the Central Station and all parts of Amsterdam.  The restaurants near the apartment were wonderful and we especially enjoyed breakfast at the De Volkslust Bakery and highly recommend breakfast there. Great neighborhood.
Regarding the apartment we rented….Els ‘Haarlem House for 5’ street level… we were very disappointed!  Nothing like the pictures shown on Airbnb and Trip Advisor.  Not clean and did not have the amenities that were advertised.  We were two couples and the bedrooms were very small and cramped with no place to even lay out of our suitcases nor less hangers to hang anything up.  No dressers to store clothes.  There was not a living room for sitting even though she advertised one…there was a small room with a love seat but no room for more than two people to sit.   The patio was totally unusable with rotten furniture and flooring.  The kitchen was so small, and counter was so corroded that we couldn’t really use the kitchen.  No expresso machine as pictured.   No amenities, not even paper towels.  Heat didn’t come on until the day we left even though we tried every night to get the heat going. The internet had a strong signal so that was good.
The owner sent us a text with the combination for the lock box… the entire time we stayed there she never once contacted us, and we checked out without ever talking to her.  Very uninviting place to stay…could not recommend this apartment It is not a B&B). Here are the pictures we took of the apartment to show what it really looked like when we rented it.  Way overpriced for what you receive.

Good location - disappointed with the apartment

Initially, everything went well.  I booked the Room Around the Corner for 2019.  But I forgot to ask about steep stairs and if they would help with the luggage.  Owner replied that there are stairs and could not guarantee they would be there to help with the luggage.
I wrote back that I can't do stairs for medical reasons, and ask to change to the first floor The House Next Door.  My emails were polite with Thank You's.
The last reply from the owner was very terse stating he could not book The House Next Door for 2019 and he has cancelled my reservation.  Nothing else.  No pleasantries at all.  Really odd and weird.
Well, he did me a great favor.  I found a nice new hotel, Niu Dairy, on Booking.com

Owner is abrupt

Our Airbnb was changed and so we stayed at WherEls.Els was very welcoming and friendly
Els has two lovely rooms with bathrooms and kitchens attached.
WherEls is brilliant for both the station and town square all  within about 3mins walk
We liked the way Eco products eg washing up liquid and bathroom products and local beers were on offer.

Birthday weekend

Els has two nice and well-equipped appartments near the center of Haarlem. It is a quite street, but so close to the shops, restaurants and the railway station, that we didn't used the car during our stay. Els gave us good hints for restaurants, backery and transportation.
