We came here by accident and we’re glad to discover this treasure. It really is one of the best on the island. Every plate was a delight. We took the menu of the chef -surprise 4 courses. It was tasteful, nicely done and the service was kindly. It was really worth to visit. 

A real treasure

Rooms basic but clean and comfortable, I arrived here feeling very tired after cycling from Zandvoort.  I was pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome and they managed to fit me into the restaurant for dinner although it was fully booked.  The food was superb and breakfast was continental style with fresh local produce.  I will definitely return here.

Friendly hotel with excellent food!

Okay location, very small rooms. But you ineed have a free parking space.
But the location is really quiet and not with shops in surroundings. Staff were good.
Breakfast was kind of manageable. To roam around texel is little difficult because of the location.

Okay types

I am reviewing the hotel and restaurant separately, not to end up with an average result that would discredit the restaurant and greatly overvalue the hotel part.

We stayed two nights, early in the season, which may explain some of the issues. The room smelled, it was damp, and floors and walls remained cold the whole stay. We did not even get the dampness out of the bedding. On the terrace, we had no sun, but a good view of some equipment and some discarded furniture. 

The web-page was not up-to-date, e.g., there are no arrangements. 

We had read the negative reviews and were prepared, but we wanted to eat at the restaurant and were not on Texel to spend time in a hotel room. How bad could it be? This was worse than expected. If it hadn't been for the very friendly staff (overlapping with the restaurant), I would have given one star.

In need of renovation (hotel, not restaurant)

The room and towels were surprisingly musty smelling and quite outdated.  The hotel has old and smelly carpet throughout. This was unusual as they pride themselves on their great food-I would have expected the same level of pride to be taken with the decor of the rooms.  

After we booked this place (based upon its restaurant's reviews) we were told the restaurant would be closed.  When we arrived, we realized that this town had NO SERVICES whatsoever.  No shops or pubs or restaurants.  That required a car or bike ride to get to the next town for a meal or bottle of water, etc....

The wifi did not work for us at any point.  Nor did the 4G on our phones, only the 3G worked.   

On a positive note, the staff/owners are really friendly;  one of them even drove us to the ferry port when we asked them to book a bus there.  

Also, despite the room, the little terrace was green and quiet as was the garden and outdoor space. 

The breakfast of breads, cheeses, fruit and coffee was tasty.  Excellent breads.
