We absolutely loved this hotel.  Going back there this July.  Room was spacious , and bathroom was big. Loved the coffee and tea bar in the room, as well as the fridge. Plenty of places to hang our clothes. Location was perfect. Enjoyed being able to sit outside

Best hotel we ever stayed in.

As the manager said "we are the cheapest in town" but in this case we paid a price for 'cheapness'.  Although our room was spacious with clean comfortable beds the curtains were dusty and would not draw properly. The bathroom was terrible with a broken shower, broken mirror light and curtain hanging off. There was mould above the shower and a damaged window in the room entrance. Don't even thing about the stairs if you don't like heights. Anyone with mobility issues should avoid the front rooms. Overall poor and in need of a major overhaul.



Cheap but not cheerful

Warm room with gorgeous view of Windmill. Piping hot water, warm, quiet, cosy, all that was needed. Very helpful lady on reception. Kettle to make a coffee in the morning. Nice homely Dutch hotel. I visited mid tulip season no problems

Excellent

Very early check-out, and it's almost impossible to agree with the staff on extension. Most hotels have later check-out times to start with and many let you stay even beyond that either exceptionally or as an extra service.

The cleaning staff is knocking on your door 10am during your stay even after explicit agreement that you don't want to be bothered in the morning. Rooms should be cleaned when it's convenient for the customer and not when it's convenient for the personnel.

They're also not doing the extra effort. After staying there for a few days I asked if I could receive something at their address and they said no.

I'm leaving a one-star review to get the attention of the people in charge, especially because the check-out can be a serious problem for some travellers and needs to be fixed. And it's always good to provide that extra service. Otherwise the room was good, reasonably priced and the staff was friendly.

Good hotel but needs better service

Ideally situated close to station and on the square. Breakfast a bit pricey but nice to have lovely walking along side the canals right out side the hotel. 
Trains take you into Amsterdam, to Schipol airport, Harlem , or Den Hague. 
An Amsterdam 3 or 4 day travel card is highly recommended

Leiden a lovely spot

The worst hotel we've ever stayed in; a complete and utter dump. I have never before awarded fewer than 3 stars to any establishment. I would not have given this place 1 star if I didn't have to.
We started in Room 10. In the bathroom the shower did not work (would not stay on wall), the bath was rusty, the door handle broken, the towels in rags, the basin cracked and the taps non matching. Bulbs were broken and the corners of the floor full of grime. The vanity unit from the 1980's. The 'balcony' was a dirty concrete projection with an old and dangerous brick parapet with the pointing falling out. I advised my wife not to lean over it lest it collapse into the street below.The external door lock was broken and not usable. The room was shades of brown with stained walls.The single bed, thankfully not required, was decrepit. I have seen better stuff in a rubbish skip.
When we asked for another room we were asked 'What's the matter with it'? 
However, we were given Room 1. Just a different list of defects....no mini fridge, faulty TV, light bulbs out, no bedside lamp, silver backing peeling from the mirror...you get the picture. Walls not brown but still dirty and stained. Balcony worse than Room 10 with bricks missing.
All the fittings in the hotel are very old and tired and the photos on the website look as though they are about 15 years old. There was even an old, discarded Christmas tree on its side (in July) broken fences, long dead plants and broken floor tiles (a lot) in the communal 'roof garden' as well as dirty plastic furniture and cigarette ends. 
Breakfast each day was the same mix of cereal, toast and hard boiled eggs with some tired looking cheese and ham served in a dingy and worn out room.
The place looks decent from the outside and is well positioned. Leiden is lovely.

Just Don't go Here.

Cold night in one of the outer bedrooms, one heater in the hall, bedside light cables a metre too short  to reach bed.... opening to decrepit exterior (!!) landing sheltered by a flimsy clear corrugated plastic roof  - no walls - covered in green mould, photo s available if I made the effort....

Seedy!

Good location. 5 minutes walk from Leiden centraal. Hotel facing nice river view. Happenings at evening and walking distance to any place of interest. A very relaxing town will friendly people. Can just rent a bicycle to ride along. 

Leisure

Good location if you like lots of noise all night from adjacent Macdonalds and other outlets en route to the main railway station.  Untypically Dutch staff - rude, unwelcoming, swathed in cigarette smoke.  Large room but very poorly decorated and a bathroom from the 80s with a shower that could only - just - be used by hand since all the fixings were broken.  Outrageous price for a dump.  Avoid at all costs - a park bench would be better.

An overpriced and tatty joint with uncivil staff

Stayed here for two nights, unfortunately.  The hotel and rooms are tired and shabby, and in need of a good refurbishment.  Everything in the room was either damaged or broken.  I can never understand why these sort of places can't supply plugs for the wash basins! Overpriced at nearly £100 for a double/twin room per night and the breakfast was distinctly average for a further 9.50 euros per person.  The staff seemed uninterested in assisting guests with the simplest of requests and the foyer continually stank of cigarette smoke.  In it's credit it is centrally located on the main square - ok if you don't mind being kept awake by revellers from 2 to 5 am in the morning.
