Beautiful setting and great location for visiting Maastricht. Impressive gardens and scenery alongside the Maas. #Book the room including with a picknick basket for breakfast. You can easily enjoy it at one of the great sides of the accomodation.

Great romantic setting and location.

A really spectacular place! Lovely room, very nicely furnished with some quirky bits.  Also coffee machine (with instructions!). Very generous free mini bar, lovely breakfast basket delivered which we could eat outside, full of goodies!  Really super 

Excellent!! 

A really lovely place - we had a very luxurious studio and really enjoyed staying there. Great attention to details  ~ it had everything we wanted for a very comfortable stay. Exceptionally comfy bed. The grounds are divine right on the river and the location perfect. We got a taxi in to Maastricht for 15 euros and walked back along the river - very nice location but don’t walk unless you enjoy walking. It’s 45 mins. You can hire bikes too. We had a lovely champagne breakfast delivered to the room and it was so huge we made lunch from it too. Would most happily return for longer next time  ~ it was perfect. Oh great parking and staff too! Thanks for a lovely stay. The free minibar was a nice touch.

Idyllic

Very nice location at Maastricht Marina. Close to the city yet far away for a quick escape from people if needed.
We spent a night here enjoying the calm. Rooms located in an little castle are clean and functional. I would say that they need some retouching and a little love. 
Team was very nice and a little Highlight is the breakfast service in the room. 

Quick escape

The hotel is actually interesting and located in a beautiful unique location. It served its purpose: we slept well! It's close to the city center and easily accessible. However, it has some major improvement points. Upon arrival, it was very difficult to find the entrance as there are multiple gates leading up to the property and no signage indicating where you should go. This was made harder due to the hidden location of the reception. The room was spacious and there was a clear effort for a contemporary and quirky decorations, the sink is a must-see. A wonder of physics. But all in all, it suffers from major flaws. The bath is in the middle of the room and does not provide much privacy and the water goes everywhere. Something else that was not very clear on their website is that our rooms were not in the castle, but in the adjoining house that used to be the servant's quarters. Our friends got a room in one of the castle towers and they had a much more real experience. Breakfast was simple but had everything you need. It's certainly not the breakfast of a 5-star hotel but it was good. The gentlemen that welcomed us was very friendly and the cookies and macaroon we found in our room was a nice touch!

Beautiful property but lack of planning

Stayed in the Royal Suite with my birthday, which was beyond perfect. Great hospitality and service. The place is a piece of art. Would definitely recommend and will visit again. My compliments to the staff.

Perfect

We had the privilege to stay in the Castle de Hoogenweerth in one of the suits on the first floor. Plenty of room, very relaxing suite. Restaurant Sofa around the corner for the evening meal and breakfast in the castle, fantastic setting.

Great location in a busy city

Where to start. Let’s see. Changed our room from the Royal Suite to a hobbit room at the last minute. Then told us we couldn’t enjoy the grounds because of the wedding they added. Promised a refund for the inconvenience. Still haven’t gotten that. Virtually no staff. They leave at night at 6 and lock everything. Front gate didn’t work. Do not stay here!

Book a different Castle

Great location just outside the city of Maastricht.  Old castle and buildings on the premises are beautifully restored.  The suite we stayed in was simple, but nicely decorated with coffee and tea making facilities,  small shower area, good bed, but no choice in pillows; ours were quite big, warm and thick. Lovely gardens, green surroundings and close to a small harbour. The restaurant next door (SOFA) is excellent. Nice outdoor dining area,  very good foods. 
We skipped the hotel breakfast in the morning,  because we thought it was quite pricey and the reviews were not that great.
All in all, we enjoyed  our stay very much, mainly because of the perfect atmosphere.

Awesome location 

The property is a fantastic environment. Very beautiful gardens along the river Maas / Meuse, old but refurbished castle and coach house. Staff very friendly. And a very good and beautiful restaurant on the same property, although not the same business group. 
So why not a 5-star rating then? Avoid at all cost the two suites Adam Love Suite and Eve Love Suite, next to the reception, in front of the parking lot. The interior architect of these two rooms should have never graduated. These rooms have a bath tub in the same open space as the bed, but no shower facility at all, not even using the same bath tub. As such, you forgo a shower or you splash the whole room wet. In 25 years of very frequent business and private hotel stays I have never seen a more worthless bathroom facility, if you could even call it a ‘bathroom’. The next morning after complaining about the same, initially no alternative rooms were available for the second night. After stating that we would leave then and not pay for the reserved second night, we were given two much better alternative rooms with a proper bathroom with shower. The second reason for my lower rating is that this business is completely understaffed. You start to feel sorry for the few staff, if around at all, for the amount of multitasking they are required to do (combination of reception, bar and breakfast service done by one person…). If not at the reception, you are asked to call the central number. Once in the morning this took me 3 calls and 15 minutes in total, to no avail. Another time, past 23:00 calling the same number connected me to the “Black Label Hotel Valkenburg”, the person only spoke English, and was not at all aware that calls from Kasteel De Doorenwerth were forwarded to the other hotel, let alone could help us to get in the tower rooms general staircase access, with the access door closed. Only with help of the off-duty restaurant staff did we discover a ‘hidden’ door on the other side ‘camouflaged’ in the castle wall.
So, if not staying in the Adam or Eve Love Suites and all else without any problems, your stay could be a truly 5-star experience. But when problems arise this business really leaves room for improvement.
